Meet Body Paint - an Arctic Monkeys-inspired lion!

Ten years ago, Arctic Monkeys were part of our Herd of Sheffield trail, with their iconic black and white elephant-which has pride of place in the Winter Garden n

Now @arcticmonkeys have a beautiful lioness to add to their collection.

And there's also a lovely story behind the artist they chose.

A few years ago, Sheffield artist @szabohaslam was close to giving up on being an artist when he got an unexpected call from the Arctic Monkeys team asking him to create the artwork for their Hillsborough Park tour poster.

So when we approached the band for Pride of Yorkshire and they selected Alex again, he couldn't quite believe it.

In his words, he's still "stunned" they know who he is!

Inspired by the soundwaves of their song Body Paint, Alex painstakingly cut out the right length strips to match the song, sprayed in beautiful copper and then peeled off the tape to reveal this stunner.

The lioness is one to look out for on the trail!

I just had to post this (in honor of pride month, and because it just made me laugh). I called my dad this morning and he was quoting Murphy’s Law adaptations. One of which was, “Don’t date people crazier than yourself,” and well I think Milex did that perfectly.

Happy pride to everyone’s favorite, 40 year old, shenanigan-causing, laughter inducing, slightly-more-than-friends, British musical couple.

Josh [Homme] comes and sings on this one. He’s very dominant, his voice. When you record his voice it just sort of leaps out, it’s great. What else can I tell you about that one? It’s got another reference to cowboy films. It just says, “I’ve been watching cowboy films on gloomy afternoons” which were something I were doing at the time. It’s also where we let ourselves have a bit of a wig-out.
