I've got two. Lawrence Prince, my WoD character. A golden boy from northern louisiana. Ma was a witch who died as he was being born, and Pa was a struggling corner store owner. Very typical favourite child of the town, helped around the shop, helped pretty much everyone around town, until some sort of beasty ransacked the store, killed his Pa along with several other people, and ran off into the night leaving him scared. Turned that grit into fight, and started huntering.
And an unnamed Firblog for a high level game who I do actually have plans to play, and is so completely setting specific if those fall through, I'll never play him. In that setting, firbolgs are nomatic planeswalkers, part of one of two major tribes, who very much do not get along. Firbingus (the only way he has ever been referred to) fell in love with someone from the opposite tribe and he was outcasted from their tribes and thrown into a place in their homeplane (which is a bunch of pyramids connected by bridges) outside the eyes of a god. His partner wasn't as they feel seriously ill, but Firbingus was left there to die. He didn't do this however, and instead killed one the unknowable alien beasts roaming down there, and, in so doing, impressed a powerful creature who saved him and offered him power, which he accepted only enough of to escape. He took his sick lover to another plane, a massive mountain where they built a home until the sickness became too much and his partner started to die. Preying to the gods, one of them offered to find a cure if he would work for it, and prolong his partner's life until then. This was, of course, complete bullshit and after years of working as a paladin for the god, he realized that no cure would ever come, only a treatment that would never help his partner. During this time, he moved across the mountain out of shame, unable to face his own failure. Every month, he delivers the medicine to treat the sickness (dropping it and a letter at their door before fleeing), and for most of the month, his partner is able to live normally until the last week where they're basically in agony. Unable to keep going like this, Firbingus accepted the being from below the pyramid's offer, and swore to end the lives of the gods who betrayed him. Now all of that is fun, but what makes me love the character is how much he just fucking sucks. The guy goes from one plane to another selling resources that plentiful in one place to somewhere they're not for massive profit. He leaves object tied to the setting's evil beings (chairs) just sitting around as a bit, is willing to kill and maim anyone who gets in his way, and is also just kind of a dick. I love him. He's also got this sick ass sword that starts as a tooth necklace and expands into a massive fuck off great sword. He's my prime example of why high level characters can be fun and have things going on but still have a lot left for the game itself. Love him to bits
