okay everyone it’s okay we’ve figured it out we’ve fixed it. it’s okay. so hear me out. it’s been well established that dean does not have the will to live without cas. we’ve seen the desperation every time cas dies and we saw dean unable to go on with his life in that flash forward with cas in the ma’lak box. with this in mind, we have to look at how seemingly meaningless dean’s death was: he didn’t even die directly from fighting those vampires. he couldn’t — he’s too good a hunter for that. it had to be an accident. it had to look like an accident for sam to accept it and to let him go. you can’t tell me that after all of that, dean’s cause of death is a purposeless fluke. dean was not the same dean ever since he got up off that floor after watching cas sacrifice himself for him. once he knew he couldn’t get cas back he didn’t mention him. when sam brought cas up in the finale, all dean could tell him was not to dwell on his grief and to keep living. dean found that case and knew it would be his last. that pie festival felt like a greatest hits type callback because he knew it would be his last. it had to look like an accident. he’s not clumsy. he never had the will to live without cas

anyone else felt that sudden burst of pure hope and joy when bobby said cas helped jack restore heaven, implying that cas was there and that dean could actually see him, only to wait and wait and wait, and feel that hope slowly die as they wasted those precious last minutes on sam's ugly ass wig and dean driving around heaven, leaving you with the worst case of emotional blue balls when cas never showed?! loved that 🙃

and when dean was looking across the bridge like the perfect end to a hallmark movie, wind on his face, and then he sensed a presence and all my hope kicked its way out of my lungs because there was gonna be the gravelly voice we were waiting for, “hello, dean” and dean would turn around and hug cas and say “you stupid son of a bitch i missed you so much” and cas would breathe into his hair and say “me too” and dean would look up saying “me too, cas” and cas would tilt his head im confusion, blue meeting green, and dean would repeat, “me too, cas; i love you too” and we’d get a kiss but wow it was sammy🙃

okay so i’m not watching supernatural but based on reactions on my dash, they just called castiel the “third winchester brother”, which is wild both in the sense of queerbaiting and also because, if i recall correctly, there is a literal actual biological third winchester brother who went to hell in season 5 and was never mentioned again

Thinking about her (The version of the finale with the brothers trying to hunt like the old days, realizing that it's not the same because they've changed and grown and want new things out of life now with their free will, and therefore making the CHOICE to live their own separate lives, while still being in each other's lives of course, just no longer codependent. Sam goes to be with Eileen. Dean pulls Cas out of the empty by making him human, paralleling Cas pulling Dean out of hell, and then them getting together. If they wanted they could show a montage of them ALL growing old together and eventually dying and ending up in heaven together.)

While sam was on earth living his life and growing old dean could have found cas in heaven and told him he loved him back and they could have built their own life but NO dean had to take a 50 year long drive in his fucking car.
