beauregard lionett from m9 c2 and imogen temult from bh C3 are actually very similar and I don't know if anyone has pointed it out but they're my faves from each campaign so I can make everything about them actually-
to name a few similarities:
they come from small towns that are pretty well known (kamordah for lionett wine, gelvaan as a trade hub)
they come from neglectful families, particularly the fathers who are presented as the biggest active source of neglect in their home life
they are viewed as some kind of curse/omen/burden/erc
they left eventually be it by force or free will, and say it was most likely the best thing that has ever happened to them
their homecomings were to seek out their fathers for information on a potential enemy, who is someone that has haunted the family (the hag, whose prophecy is implied to have caused the lionett family's misery; liliana, who left relvin with his guilt and unprepared dto tackle the budding powers in imogen, who knows no other like her)
said reunion was filled with emotional tension from their abrupt departures, as well as their own personal growth away from their old home, which gave them some insight of the Situations they were in before, while they are backed up by their new found families
they are raging lesbians who had to endure a slow burn before they got together with their respective current partners
I can't believe home depot literally produced a wildly successful science fiction musical and we all just pretend it didn't happen. on one hand yes it had a boring white guy main character but like.... home depot just... Made it? And it had shit ton of box office sales? and no one even talks about this. this is like avatar (2009) all over again
OK so. After a lot of frantic googling I realized this was all a dream. home depot did not in fact produce a wildly successful science fiction musical. I was on allergy meds and took a nap and my brain simply prophesized this. slightly disappointed because I wanted to watch it.

my most ungrounded and unresearched fear is that so many companies are pushing AI in part because it builds them a pathway towards a subscription model for a huge number of things that should not be subscription, but theoretically could be:
do you want to talk to verizon's help desk because there's an error on your bill? to access a real agent, you have to pay for Verizon Access+, only 5.99 a month.
want to filter out all the fake job postings from the real ones? subscribe to Indeed: Advanced Tactics and only verified postings will appear on your dash.
sick of the infinite ai slop? buy Google Premium; it'll automatically detect ai within a site and gives it a credibility score. with premium plus, you can shuffle high-credibility results to the top.
do you want a "luxury" experience? well, you'd have to pay for that luxury, and since the company sure doesn't want to pay its employees; the cost would fall to the consumer.
when automation has made every experience unpleasant; the experience of genuine humanity will be commodified.
This is already happening – one of the softwares used by a museum I work at only lets you talk to a human help agent if you have their premium subscription. It's such bullshit
the fact you are not the only one in these notes saying "no this is already happening; i have to pay money to speak to a representative" is just... really awesome! you said a software used by museums is doing this shit? okay! great! wonderful!! anybody know where i can scream

I love characters who are like "I'm a terrible person" but when you look closer it's more like
"I adapted to survive something and now I don't know how to stop being that version of myself."
It's so, SO important to share success stories like this. I know an actual JPL engineer who doesn't believe in climate change because, "you never hear about acid rain anymore."
He thinks climate change can be lumped in with acid rain and the ozone layer of "things that were overblown and not really important because no one talks about it anymore."
It didn't even occur to him that we actively fixed the problem. Here's the EPA page on acid rainfall.
From the page:
It's also important to talk about success stories tonfuel hope that we can overcome current and future conservation and environmental issues.
We fixed the hole in the Ozone layer too.
I wish I could take this post, go back in time, and shove it in the face of literally everyone.
All of these problems are fixable
I wanted to share this: WE FIGURED OUT HOW TO BRING BACK DEAD CORAL!!! By using sounds of living coral to attract fish.
Coral can be saved!!! This planet is way more resilient than we give it credit for. And we don't give humans enough flowers for stopping the harm billionaires cause.

It's a lot healthier to go for a daily walk than to sign up for a gym membership you won't be using because you hate that kind of exercise. It's a lot healthier to eat a frozen meal than to skip a meal because you were too tired to cook something healthy. It's a lot healthier to take a quick shower than to procrastinate an elaborate routine for days. Don't aim so high that you won't be hitting anything!
this is actually really helpful and affirming thanks
*in tears* Thanks kitty, I needed this...
