DESTROYA
Red. In Poison's eyes everything was red, the images of their last encounter with BLI repeating themselves over and over again inside their head, driving them crazy to the point they could feel a migraine ghosting over their mind.
"Poison"
They shook their head and closed their eyes, tightly pressing their eyelids together, hoping to shut out the entire world once and for all; instead, the memories became impossibly vivid and their breath hitched in their throat.
"Poison, look at me"
They could hear the wheels screeching; they could smell the burnt gas in the air. They could see the hate glowing in the Neutral's eyes...
"Damn it, Poison!" Fun Ghoul grabbed their face harsher than he had intended, taking the redheaded by surprise, "Snap out of it!"
For the first time in who knows how long, they focused on their surroundings, eyes still fogged, mind haunted with horrors.
"Are you... alright?"
A single, dry chuckle slipped past their lips.
"Check, check"
"This is not a game, Party" Kobra, who had been patiently calling their name until Fun Ghoul had dared to approach them physically, sighed with an annoyed expression plastered on his face.
"Check, check, check-..." the shocked killjoy's voice kept gaining volume, the same word coming out in a flood of senselessness and confused grief.
They didn't notice the look their companion's exchanged nor did they notice Girl's strangled cries as she started to get scared by their behavior. Jet Star tried to calm her, making shushing sounds and embracing her but to no avail.
In a desperate attempt to bring his sibling back to their senses, Kobra yanked them by their collar. Soon after, they broke into a full-blown rant fueled by the fresh memories of dracs and Scarecrows chasing them and other killjoy gangs that were unfortunate enough to stop at the wrong Neutral community.
"They say we're their hope, that we do what they would like to do if they were brave enough, that they admire us... Bullshit! bullshit, bullshit!"
"Party Poison!" the young blonde yelled, discreetly eyeing the little girl they all had practically raised.
"Don't believe what they say!" the older barked, "we're dead flies in the summertime! They leave us all behind..."
"This was a one-time incident, you know it" Fun Ghoul tried to reason just to be dismissed with a hand motion.
"Yeah, yeah, they DONâT like who you are, and you won't like where we'll go... why do we bother, again?!"
"Theyâre not serious, theyâre angry" Jet cooed into Grace's ear. The child was whimpering. Her entire life, (which wasn't much, to be fair), she had been told that her friends were fighting to make a better world, that they'd succeed, that she had nothing to worry about. Her friends would be okay and so would she. However, hearing the hazel-eyed leader talking so bitterly made her uneasy and no matter how hard she tried to be a big girl, she couldn't help the tears that left her eyes. âEverything will be alright if we..."
"Fight together? Oh, I forgot, friendship keeps people alive!" Party spat, their mocking voice intensifying by the second "Brother, brother! Protect me now!"
Kobra gritted his teeth.
"You laugh, we don't think it's funny!" he shouted and shoved the older âjoy aggressively, losing his temper; in consequence, he got shoved back. The shorter of the group interfered before the altercation could go any further. âYou canât give up for one bad day! Think of all weâve lost!â
"TskâŚAnd you? You agree, Ghoul?"
âUhâŚâ
âUh, uh, uh, uhâ mocked the angered one, making the other blush ashamed, âListen here, I donât believe in God, I donât believe in love, I donât believe in you, I just believe in the enemy⌠and the enemy is winningâ
ââŚbut I believe weâre the enemyâ the black-haired killjoy muttered. Partyâs face softened and the room went silent. Girl, now calmed, got herself out of Jetâs hold and approached them, placing a tiny hand on top of theirs.
âThey donât believe in us, but I believe in the enemyâ she smiled, and they mirrored her.
âAgainst the sun, weâre the enemyâ
