The way all the 2020s have done so far have been making me categorically against every new generation of tech that comes out is insane. Like I'm from a technological boom generation, saw the first portable phones, nokias & blackberries & flipphones etc, and the first smartphones, and the first ipods & ipads & tablets in general while still having cassettes & DVD & MP3 players around so I know how all of it work, I had computer classes in high school, I did the transition between home desktop computers to laptops and back to gaming computers. But then they started to put internet in your printer & microwave, everything has ads & AI now and every update is worst than the last. I literally loved technology and they ruined it
Okay but what if at some point during season 3, Mel brings up going on a date after her shift. (Side note because I can totally see Santos and Javadi stealing her phone and creating a Hinge profile).
This completely throws Langdon off. Not that he doesn't see Mel as desirable, but just because she never mentioned ever talking to another guy.
Bonus points if the guy she was going out with ends up in the ER and both she and Langdon are working on him. The guy makes some joke like "some first date huh? Don't worry, I'll make it up to you." This earns a giggle from Mel and Langdon has to take a step back because boy is fuming.
Abby was always jealous of Langdon's relationship with Garcia.
Every conversation about her or with her, Abby would get upset even though Langdon reminded her time and time again that Garcia was a lesbian.
So when he's with Mel, he does his best to respect her and tries to distance himself from Garcia. Until of course, it back fires on him.
"Did something happen with you and Yolanda," Mel barely looked up from her laptop as she scrolled through a medical journal.
Langdon's grip on the wooden spoon tightened as he hesitated, "I don't think so. Why?"
"She was paged down to the ER today for a consult and she told me that she hasn't heard from you in a couple days," Mel explained, "And your lack of bantering is pretty concerning."
Langdon wasn't use to someone being so casual about his relationship with Garcia. Abby always got upset and he felt like he could never talk about one of his closest friends. He wanted to respect Mel and do his best to not make her jealous. So this was unexpected.
"You don't think it's weird," Langdon asked.
Mel finally tore her eyes away from the lap top and gave him a confused look, "I thought you two were weird on my first day, sure. Then you came back, had the same relationship, and it's just something I'm use to. It's your thing."
"Our thing," Langdon repeated.
"You know," Mel started, "The name calling, the bantering. It's weird when you two aren't together," Mel laughed, "I basically had to stand in for you the ten months you were gone. Honestly, I was honored."
Langdon paused to choose his words carefully, "I didn't think you'd be okay with it."
Mel stood up from her chair and walked over, "What do you mean?
Langdon turned away slightly from the stove, "You're not jealous?"
Mel had to stifle her laughter, "Of what?"
Langdon watched Mel, but she truly didn't know what he was talking about. Mel waited for Langdon to speak up, gently taking his free hand and rubbing it.
"She's a lesbian," Mel said, "And besides, she was here before me. She's your person."
"I just didn't want you to be upset about our relationship," Langdon explained.
Mel nodded, understanding where he was coming from without him having to say a thing. She gently took his waist in her hands to spin him to fully face her, "Yolanda is your best friend. Please don't put that aside because of me."
Langdon suddenly felt overwhelmed with emotions knowing that he was able to keep both of them in his life. He cleared his throat and wrapped his arms around Mel.
"Thank you," he bent down and kissed her.
Mel hummed before pulling away, "I have to finish this article. Text Yo-yo."
Langdon couldn't help but laugh, "Aright. I will."

when they return after working with each other for four months straight and they have the exact josh and donna dynamic that they had in season 1 of ww then what?
"it's important to me that mel and langdon are platonic bc not all male/female relationships have to be romantic βΉοΈ" no dude you're uncomfortable with the idea that an autistic woman can have romantic and sexual needs. it's important to me that mel, an adult woman and physician who's been parentified her entire life while also being simultaneously infantilized by the fanbase is treated like a complex! whole! individual! if you're not willing to deconstruct that in your brain then i truly don't even have anything to say to you!!!

"You test out the beds yet," he asked.
Mel shuddered, though that could have just been from the cold. Why is it so damn cold in here? She shook her head, "No, not yet."
"Guess I'll be the guinea pig," Langdon made his way over.
Mel tried to control her face as Langdon went to lay down. He groaned as he laid back, eyes closing shut. Mel cursed silently to herself. She should not be thinking about Langdon like this. She shouldn't be thinking about the noise he made and how she wanted to draw more from him. It was truly the hottest thing she's ever heard, and his shirt raising up to reveal his happy trail wasn't helping as her mind went to dirtier thoughts.
My thoughts on the start of season three that no one asked for but I'm going to share them anyway:
Season three starts with a trauma that the night and day shift are working on together before rounds start.
Playful banter between Ellis and the night shift since it seems like she is moving to the day shift with her being a full time character.
A shiny, freshly blonde ponytail comes swinging in, and it is our queen Doctor Melissa King coming from her deposition.
There are a few comments, all positive, about her new look, and Mel mentions how Santos helped her with it.
Garcia teasing her saying that she needs more notice next time before she steals Santos away, and ofc she drops the 'Doctor Barbie' that we are all wishing for.
Santos asks Mel how the depo went, Mel says that she can't talk about it, Santos then asks if they're getting distracting drinks or celebration drinks after work. To which Mel just gives her a sly smile before ofc it went great.
Trauma is over and the patient gets taken up to surgery.
Abbott or Shen bring up rounds, and it takes a very sharp elbow to the ribs to get Langdon's attention, because he is absolutely enamored by Mel who is looking gorgeous.
There is some joke between Mel and Langdon, an inside joke that we don't know about since there is about 4 months that we did not get to see.
