no but I love the concept of Mel King as ER Barbie (even beyond the Kingdon implications) because Barbie is confident, competent, attractive, and popular - all the things society tries to deny/undermine in women with autism. but Mel as a character already is and can be more of all these things! Mel King is attractive; Mel King knows what she's capable of and regularly exceeds expectations; Mel King is a delightful person that anyone should be happy to count as a friend. Mel King IS ER Doctor Barbie. and although not perfect with their messaging, Barbie is supposed to represent *all* kinds of women being their best selves. i am living for a more confident, self-assured, assertive, and socially-supported Mel King in S3, and not because she puts on a mask to conform but because she more fully embraces herself without shame.

Mel and Trinity start spending so much time together and start getting so casually affectionate at work that Frank and Yolanda start convincing themselves and each other that there’s something romantic going on there.

Yolanda, drunk on the sofa (that Frank sleeps on post-divorce), fingertips smoothing over the barely-there scar on her foot: “I think I really fucked it.”

Frank, stone cold sober, but somehow sounding more drunk: “I never even got a chance to fuck it.”

Mel and Trinity calling each other 'babe', leaning into each other to giggle about something on their phone, and getting all quite when Langdon and/or Garcia walk into the room and they can't look at each other without bursting into laughter.

It isn't until the two reassure Langson and Garcia that they don't see each other that way, that they're just completely healed when it comes to female friendships that they start to relax.
