Summary: After a series of murders targeting couples composed of an android and a human start happening in the University District of Detroit, it is decided that you and Connor will go undercover as a married couple to scout out the place and find a lead on the culprit. The two of you are best friends, so you're not opposed to spending a few weeks pretending to be married but despite Gavin's teasing comments, you're sure you won't fall in love with Connor. (Female Reader)
Each and every part of this trip continued to leave both you and Henry in complete shock and awe. It began with seeing the Mosasaurus in the water, the two of you likely being the only ones to actually smile at the sight. How could you not? The creature was gorgeous. She looked so healthy, and was so impressively living.
And, although Henry and you had shouted the dangers and cautions to the team as you escaped the spinosaurusâ on shore, the two of you had also spent several minutes together afterwards marveling at their speed in the water, and their wits in circling prey for the Mosasaur. Excited smiles, and overlapping words as you both spewed compliment after compliment for these creatures. Youâd earned several eye rolls from Martin at this point, and a handful of concerned looks from Zora.
âI donât get how the two of you could be so excited when everything weâve interacted with has tried killing us.â But she had a smile too. It was somewhat endearing, if she was honest. The two of you were cute enough to watch as you geeked out with one another.
Youâd stayed close together on the walks in between, arms often bumping in to one another as you were hardly focused on your path. Your eyes were too distracted by trying to take in the plants around you, and attempting to spot any other hidden creatures. You squeezed his hand as you both whispered about what you hoped to see on the trip.
And as the mission continued and you got the second necessary blood sample, Zora began to understand your reason for excitement. Seeing the Titanosaurus was life changing. For Zora, seeing something so massive yet so gentle was nearly incomprehensible. The way the creatures moved together, clearly having some sort of connection that she never even considered to be a possibility.
For you and Henry, it was an exciting confirmation of everything you could ever dream of. To see them existing, and seeing the way that they were just like every living thing. Seeking love, seeking connection. Both of you were brought to tears, enveloping one another in only the biggest of hugs and warmest of kisses.
But, eventually, you had to move on. There was a final sample to get and both you and Henry found yourselves bubbling with yet another excitement at the prospect of not just seeing but holding a dinosaur egg. And not just any dinosaur, but a Quetzalcoatlus. It was another moment of complete and utter adoration even in the face of danger.
You and Henry had shared another impressed smile when she made her way to her eggs. Your smile was quickly wiped when the dino began pecking, (with her stellar beak that was nothing less than impressive to see) but both of your observations of her continued. The way she moved, her instinct to protect her eggs, the color of her eyes, her response to auditory distractions. You both wanted to soak in every possible detail you could catch, planning to pull out a notebook and write it all down.
However, your heart fell to your stomach the second that rope snapped and sent Henry over the edge. Zora was quick to react, and it was good for your sakes that the Quetzalcoatlus had left the cave, but Henry was so determined.
âItâs gonna snap!â Zora shouted to him, both your eyes glued right on where the rope was fraying.
Your palms had never felt this sore before, holding desperately on to the rope to help as best you could. But it was no use, both you and Zora hardly had a good position yourselves, and Henry was determined to get the sample as it rested just on the ledge.
The rope snapped, your stomach dropped. Henry had shouted happily about getting the sample just before plummeting to the ground. Your mind was screaming as you ran as fast as you possibly could, through ancient ruins that you otherwise wouldâve so desperately wanted to explore had Henry not been in such danger.
âFuck,â You muttered as you stumbled and nearly fell.
Zora grabbed your arm to help you keep your balance as you both bolted. âHey, slow down. Weâll be of no help if we both eat shit on the way down.â
You could hardly hear her as you continued on. Heâd hit vegetation on his way down, that was a good sign. You had hoped it was enough to soften his fall and land him safely because you needed that to be the case. Youâd come too far on this mission, and loved Henry too much to have this be the end.
The sun blared through the ruinâs opening, your eyes squinting as you rushed out and immediately began looking for him. You heard movement in nearby water and went that direction with no hesitation. Zora was somehow still shocked by your lack of self preservation even after everything that had just happened. You were lucky it wasnât something dangerous in the water.
âHenry!â You shouted, eagerly hoping and waiting for a response.
More splashing could be heard. âDid you see that?â An excited voice. It was him, you recognized him immediately.
Your heart allowed itself to slow down, and your shoulders had a weight lifted. But your brows were still furrowed with concern, and now there was an overwhelming relief washing over. Your pace quickened, if possible.
Henry was absolutely beaming with an ear to ear smile. He was sat in a small body of water, sample canister in hand and entirely soaked from head to toe. You both were laughing, likely just processing everything that happened and both glad to see you made it out. There was no hesitation as you trudged right into the water, successfully soaking your own clothes now.
âAre you hurt?â Your hands cupped his face, tilting his head in various directions as you checked for any obvious injuries.
Henry just kept smiling, his free hand resting on your waist. âIt was breathtaking,â he wasnât talking about the fall. âShe was gorgeous, and those eggs. I actually held the egg of a Quetzalcoatlus.â
Zora stood at the edge of the water and watched the two of you. Henry was moving, and talking. She took those things as a good sign, and was less amazed at this point that he wasted no time in gushing about the damn dinosaur.
And the second that you knew he was okay, you jumped right in too. âShe looked so much like Mark Wittonâs depiction.â
âThe blue pycnofibres!â He exclaimed in agreement and another burst of excited laughter.
You smiled down at him, his face still in your hands. His eyes showed no signs of regret in going for the vial and inevitably falling, just a genuine love for his work and excitement in getting to share it with you.
âThink itâs about time you thank me for convincing you to come along.â Henry joked as his hand gently squeezed your side. âAfter all, you have seen several dinosaurs while here.â
Another quiet laugh, your thumb skimmed over his cheek. None of it felt real. âIâve also seen my husband nearly die, and almost died myself.â
He hummed, kissing your lips and trying to sound convincing at a whisper. âBut you also saw a Titanosaurus⌠and Apatosaurus, MosasaurusâŚâ another small kiss. âAnkylosaurus, Spinosaurus, Quetzalcoatlus.â
He gave another kiss, although you accepted it you also rolled your eyes.
You hadnât noticed, but everyone had regrouped by this point. Martin pulled you both back to your reality as he shouted to ask about the sample. The only thing that mattered to him.
You looked at him over your shoulder, letting go of Henry. Krebs was a selfish, greedy bastard. He hadnât known what happened, and didnât care to know. No use in retelling it to a man who only spoke one language. He wanted money. That wasnât Henryâs reason for risking his life for that sample.
Henry leaned over to proudly show him the canister, hand still on your hip. âYou thought weâd leave without it?â
Martin let out a sigh of relief, hands on his knees as he caught his breath from the run. The others were resting too, recuperating and doing their damn best to previously ignore the dino rant from you and Henry. They all hated that beast and couldnât stomach the idea of appreciating a thing about it at the moment.
Henry finally stood from the water, holding your hand for support. Both your hands held on, and you stayed closer to him now than you had before. Just because you could still admire these creatures for what they are didnât mean you didnât become increasingly more cautious of their dangers. Henry too.
He squeezed your hand, giving you a kiss atop your head. His smile still had yet to falter. âWell, letâs see what we come across next, hmm?â

The sea stretched endlessly around the boat, glassy and golden beneath the early morning sun. Wind tousled your hair as you leaned against the railing, eyes fixed on the smudge of land growing larger on the horizon.
You felt the buzz of anticipation in your chest, real dinosaur nests, finally within reach. It was the kind of research trip youâd dreamed about since grad school, and you were here, among some of the best minds in the field.
Somewhere behind you, a man stood frozen on the deck.
Dr. Henry Loomis clutched his clipboard so tightly his knuckles were white. His gaze hadnât left you since you stepped onto the boat. His brain had completely stopped working the moment you smiled at Zora and wrapped her in a familiar hug, voice soft and bright as the sun bouncing off the waves.
âYou are,â Duncan said with a smirk. âLike youâve just seen a goddess emerge from the sea.â
âI was just...curious. Scientifically.â
âRight. Scientifically curious about her mouth.â
Henry looked away, face flushed, clutching the clipboard like it could shield him from embarrassment. âShe probably doesnât even know I exist.â
Zora, now lounging on a supply crate nearby, arched an eyebrow. âNot if you keep hiding behind clipboards.â
âSheâsâŚstunning,â Henry whispered, almost like he was afraid saying it aloud would make it less true. âAnd brilliant. Zora, you said she had a paper on interspecies nesting overlap-â
âUh huh. And you said you were going to be professional this trip,â Zora cut in. âBut youâve been staring at her like sheâs the last fossil on Earth.â
Henry sighed, hopeless. âOh, god...Iâm doomed.â
The island was breathtaking, with lush foliage, low sweeping valleys, and thick canopies shadowing ancient terrain. You helped set up base camp and immediately launched into work, hiking out with a pack full of scanners, a journal already half-filled with hypotheses.
The forest air was thick with humidity and the deep, earthy scent of ancient soil. Ferns brushed your legs as you crouched beside a nesting mound, brush in hand, gently sweeping away loose dirt from the edge of a partially buried eggshell.
Henry knelt beside you, notebook open, but he wasnât writing. Not yet.
He was watching you again.
The sun filtered through the canopy above, streaking gold across your cheek, highlighting the delicate concentration in your eyes. The way your brow furrowed, how your fingers moved with careful precision, like the egg could crumble under the weight of a careless breath. You tucked a strand of hair behind your ear, unaware of the way his heart stuttered every time you did.
âI think itâs Dryosaurus,â you murmured, brushing back a bit more soil. âThe shellâs thickness, the slight green tint from the sediment...see here?â
You leaned closer, and Henry leaned in too, helpless.
He swallowed. âYouâreâŚincredible at this.â
You smiled up at him. âThanks.â
âSeriously,â he added, voice barely above the wind rustling through the trees. âI could watch you do this all day.â
You froze for a second, blinking. He realized what he said a heartbeat too late.
âI-I mean professionally, of course. As a colleague. From a respectful scientific distance.â
You bit your lip, hiding a smile. âOf course.â
Henry ducked his head, face pink, but the moment was interrupted by a low, throaty chirp nearby.
Both your heads turned in sync.
From the brush emerged a young Pachycephalosaurus, no taller than your chest, its curious eyes blinking as it tilted its head. Its scales shimmered faintly green and gold in the dappled light.
You stilled immediately, careful not to startle it.
Henryâs breath caught.
âSheâs alone,â you whispered. âProbably ventured from her herd. Weâve seen tracks up the ridge.â
Henryâs hand drifted protectively near your back, he didnât touch you, but he hovered close enough to make your skin tingle. âStay still. She might approach.â
Sure enough, the little dino took a tentative step forward.
You slowly extended your hand, palm open, voice low. âHey there, pretty girlâŚâ
The Pachy blinked again, then, to your delight, nudged her nose gently against your palm. She sniffed curiously, then chirped once and lowered her head as if inviting more contact.
âOh my god,â you whispered. âSheâs trusting me.â
Henry was utterly silent beside you, awestruck, not by the dinosaur, but by you. The way you softened, how your voice turned gentle, your entire body becoming calm.
âShe likes you,â he murmured, watching your hand stroke over the creatureâs scaly brow. âOf course she does.â
The dinosaur nuzzled your knee, then turned and waddled back into the brush, disappearing with a rustle of ferns.
You stared after her, grinning widely. âThat wasâŚmagical.â
Henry hadnât moved. âSo are you.â
You turned to him, breath catching at the look on his face. He blinked, realizing heâd said that out loud again.
âSorry. I-â
âDonât be,â you said, smiling softly. âYouâre kind of sweet when you forget to filter yourself.â
He laughed, rubbing the back of his neck. âYouâre going to kill me.â
You stood and extended your hand to help him up. He hesitated only a second before taking it, warm, solid, his fingers curling into yours like they were meant to fit.
When he stood, your bodies were close. He didnât let go.
You looked up at him through your lashes. âYou okay?â
âIâm great,â he said, voice shaky.
You held his gaze for a long moment. And even though neither of you said anything more, the electricity between you crackled like fire just beneath your skin.
He finally let go. You both turned back to the site.
For the rest of the afternoon, Henry never strayed more than a few feet from you. Whenever you crouched to check a nest or adjust your notes, he hovered nearby, watching, listening, burning quietly with love.
He didnât need a dinosaur to knock into him to know heâd fallen hard.
But somehow, you still didnât realize.
Zora did.
She approached you one afternoon as you were sketching nest layouts near camp. She plopped beside you, chin in hand.
âSo,â she said casually. âHow long are you going to make Henry suffer?â
You blinked. âWhat?â
Zora snorted. âGirl. You have to know. Heâs so in love with you, it hurts to look at him.â
You stared at her, heat creeping into your cheeks.
âHeâs been inventing reasons to be near you for days,â she said. âHe blushes every time you say his name. He practically short-circuits when you smile at him.â
Your lips parted slightly. âI thought he was justâŚshy.â
âHe is. But heâs also obsessed with you.â
Your heart started beating faster. All the stolen glances. The trembling hands. The way his voice went hoarse when he asked you questions.
âOh my god.â
Zora leaned back with a grin. âGo talk to him. Or I will.â
Meanwhile, Duncan had dragged Henry behind one of the tents, arms crossed.
âShe knows,â he said.
Henryâs whole body tensed. âWhat?! What do you mean, she...Zora told her?!â
âShe did. Youâre welcome.â
Henry groaned. âI-Iâm going to ruin everything. What if she doesnât feel the same?â
Duncan shook his head. âListen, man. Youâve been walking around like a kicked puppy. Just go. Tell her. Youâll regret it if you donât.â
Henry stood frozen for a full thirty seconds before he finally nodded.
You were in your tent when he arrived, the flap rustling softly as he hesitated in the entrance. He looked wrecked with nerves, hair mussed, glasses slightly fogged, breath shallow.
âI hope Iâm not interrupting,â he said quietly.
You stood. âNot at all. Come in.â
He stepped inside like it was sacred ground. The lantern light painted him in gold and amber, casting soft shadows across his face.
âIâŚZora told you,â he said.
You nodded slowly. âShe did.â
He swallowed hard. âIt's true...all of it. Iâve neverâŚIâve never felt this way before. About anyone. And I was terrified Iâd ruin it if I said something. But I canât keep pretending I donât want you. Not just for your work. Not just as a colleague. I want you.â
You stared at him, heart in your throat.
âI noticed you the moment you stepped on the boat,â he whispered. âAnd I havenât stopped.â
You stepped closer, voice barely above a breath. âHenryâŚâ
He looked up, eyes full of longing. âPlease. Just tell me you feel something too.â
You reached up, cupped his cheek. âIâve been waiting for you to say something.â
He exhaled like youâd just granted him salvation. And then he kissed you.
It started softly.
Henryâs lips met yours with aching tenderness, his hands tentative as they curled around your waist. But the longer your mouths moved together, the more control he lost. The kiss deepened, turned hungry. Days of restraint cracked under your touch.
He guided you back toward the cot, pausing only to whisper, âAre you sure?â
âYes.â
He kissed you again, slower this time, like he was savoring every second. His fingers slipped beneath your shirt, tracing warm lines over your skin as he murmured your name like it was something holy.
When your shirt came off, he stared like he couldnât believe what he was seeing. His hands hovered just above your skin, hesitant, afraid.
âHenry,â you whispered. âTouch me.â
He obeyed instantly, palms sliding up your ribs, over your breasts, thumbs circling your nipples gently as you gasped. He watched your every reaction like it was a discovery. When you tugged at his shirt, he fumbled it off, blushing as you ran your hands over his chest.
You kissed your way down his neck, and he shuddered, soft moans slipping from his lips.
When you laid back on the cot and guided his fingers between your thighs, he nearly lost it.
âYouâre so wet already,â he whispered, dazed.
âFor you.â
He swallowed hard, eyes locked on yours as he slipped one, then two fingers inside. His touch was slow, careful, as if memorizing the feel of you.
Your back arched slightly as he slid them in and out of you. He curled them and you had to cover your mouth to stifle the moan.
âYouâre perfect,â he whispered. âI want to make you feel good. Let me.â
He kissed down your stomach, spreading your thighs gently. His breath fanned over your cunt before his tongue met you, and the gasp that tore from your throat made his hips jerk against the mattress.
He worshiped you like it was instinct, like he was born to. He moaned against you when you tangled your fingers in his hair, your thighs trembling around his head.
âH-Henry...please...oh, my god!â
He slid those same two fingers back inside you, finding your sweet spot as his tongue flicked over your clit.
You couldn't keep quiet, your cries of pleasure getting increasingly more urgent as he brought you closer and closer to the edge.
When you came, crying his name, he looked up with raw awe in his eyes.
You pulled him up, kissed him deep, and reached for his belt. His hands covered yours.
âI wonât last long,â he warned, voice ragged. âNot when you look like this, not with you so beautiful beneath meâŚâ
âThen donât hold back,â you whispered. âI want all of you.â
He slid inside you with a broken groan, burying his face in your neck as he filled you. He stilled, breathing hard, trying to regain some semblance of control.
âOh my God,â he whispered. âYou feelâŚso good.â
He moved slowly at first, hips rocking in gentle waves. But when you whimpered his name, digging your nails into his back, something snapped.
He kissed you hungrily, thrusting deeper, harder, whispering things you could barely understand. âSo beautiful,â âCanât believe youâre mine,â âI never want to leave.â
Henry slid his hand to your breast, squeezing your nipple as he kissed you deeply. He did the same to your other one before he reached between your bodies to find your clit.
You came again, and the way your walls pulsed around him undid him. He buried himself as deep as he could and spilled with a hoarse cry, trembling above you.
He was gentle when he pulled out of you, peppering kisses along your cheeks, jaw, and lips. The two of you fell asleep like that, curled against one another, the sounds of the jungle a soft lullaby.
The tent was quiet in the golden haze of the morning.
Birds chirped distantly in the canopy above, and somewhere nearby, the low bellow of a herbivore echoed through the trees, but inside your tent, everything was still. Still and warm. Warm from the heat of Henryâs body, his breath ghosting over your shoulder, his arms curled protectively around your waist.
The brilliant, shy, ridiculously sweet Henry slept with his face buried in your neck, one hand splayed gently across your stomach, the other tucked under your side like he needed to be as close as humanly possible.
You couldnât stop smiling.
Every time he shifted in his sleep and unconsciously pulled you tighter, your heart fluttered. You remembered the way heâd looked at you the night before, awestruck, feral with need. You remembered the way his hands had trembled when heâd touched you. And now here he was, tangled in the sheets with you.
You brushed a hand through his hair.
He stirred with a soft groan, nuzzling your neck. Then his lips parted against your skin.
ââŚDid last night really happen?â he murmured, his voice gravelly with sleep.
You giggled. âIt did.â
Henry opened his eyes slowly. And blushed instantly.
His gaze flicked from your bare legs to your lips, then to your fingers resting on his chest. âYouâre, umâŚwearing my shirt.â
You sat up, the fabric falling loosely over your thighs. It was comically large on you, soft, slightly wrinkled, and completely saturated in his scent.
You grinned. âItâs comfy.â
He looked like heâd stopped breathing.
Something hit a pan just outside the tent, followed by a very loud, very fake cough.
Then...
CRASH
Zora.
You both froze.
âI know someoneâs up in there,â she called. âAnd I brought pancakes. If Iâm gonna suffer through your post-sex glow, I at least expect to see both of you at breakfast.â
Henry groaned into your pillow. âOh god.â
You stepped out of the tent five minutes later, barefoot, legs bare, Henryâs shirt brushing just past your knees. Youâd quickly combed your hair with your fingers and tried to play it cool, but Zora and Duncan were both waiting like lions spotting prey.
Duncan was lounging at the makeshift breakfast table with a smug grin and two plates in front of him. Zora leaned against a tent pole, arms crossed, biting back a grin as her gaze immediately dropped to the shirt.
âWell good morning, sunshine,â she said sweetly.
You tried not to laugh. âMorning.â
Henry stumbled out behind you, hair still tousled, face bright red as he adjusted his pants and put his glasses on. He didnât even look at Zora or Duncan, just mumbled something about coffee and bolted toward the brewing pot like it might save his life.
Duncan tilted his head, grinning up at you.
âThat his shirt?â
You nodded, holding your plate.
âNice,â he said. âVeryâŚpossessive. You planning on giving it back?â
âNever,â you said with a smirk.
Zora slid a mug of tea across the table toward you. âYou broke the poor man.â
You sat beside her, sipping and smiling as Henry nervously handed you a napkin and sat very carefully next to you, like any sudden movement might draw more attention.
You glanced over at him. His ears were so red.
âYou okay, sweetheart?â
He cleared his throat. âI...yes. JustâŚwarm.â
Zora grinned into her mug. âBet it was.â
Henry choked on his coffee.
Duncan deadpanned. âGlad to see the tent didnât collapse.â
You laughed as Henry buried his face in his hands.
Zora leaned closer, mock whispering, âWas he as shy in bed as he is in the field?â
Henry actually groaned, but you leaned into it, resting your hand on his thigh under the table.
âNope,â you whispered. âNot even a little.â
Henry dropped his fork.
Duncan burst out laughing.
You all sat there a while longer, pancakes on paper plates, syrup passed back and forth, birds singing in the trees. Henry relaxed gradually, his hand finding yours beneath the table, thumb brushing gently along your knuckles. You leaned into him, his shirt warm and oversized on your body, his shoulder brushing yours.
And even though Zora and Duncan kept teasing, relentlessly, you could tell Henry was glowing beneath the nerves. Because every time you laughed, every time you touched his knee or smiled at him over your mug, he looked at you like he couldnât believe this was his life now.
Like you were the most precious discovery he'd ever made.

âdo the two of you ever shut up?â sue finally snapped, arms crossed as she watched you and johnny bounce off each other like a pair of human pinballs.
you didnât even flinch. ânot when weâre in the middle of a very important debate,â you said with a dramatic flick of your hand. âbecause obviously, orange soda is superior to grape soda.â
âwrong!â johnny jumped in before anyone else could breathe, pointing at you like you were a sworn enemy. âgrape soda is a cultural reset. you donât get it.â
âyou donât get it! the carbonation ratio in orange soda hits just right. grape tastes like cough syrup!â
âyeah? well, you taste likeââ he cut himself off, grinning when your eyes widened. the rest of the table groaned.
reed pinched the bridge of his nose. âweâre supposed to be discussing mission logistics.â
âand iâm supposed to be dating someone with good taste,â johnny shot back, leaning against your chair with that smug little smirk that made you want to kiss him and punch him at the same time.
you rolled your eyes, but your grin gave you away. âfunny, because i was just thinking i should trade up. ben, you single?â
ben grumbled into his coffee. âdonât drag me into your circus.â
johnny gasped like youâd betrayed him. âyouâd leave me for ben?!â
âoh, absolutely.â
âyou wound me, babe. deeply.â he clutched his chest in fake agony, collapsing across your lap until you swatted him away.
âyou two are insufferable,â sue muttered. âcanât you go yap in private?â
âcanât,â you said sweetly. âwe thrive on the drama of a live audience.â
johnny threw an arm around you, pulling you into his side, eyes shining like heâd just won an award. âexactly. weâre entertainers. yapping royalty.â
everyone else groaned in unison, but you and johnny just laughed, launching straight into a heated argument about whether dogs or cats would win in a street fight.
no one could stand it. and neither of you cared.

A/N: KURT IS MY ALL TIME FAVORITE X-MAN/MARVEL CHARACTER IN GENERAL I ADORE HIM SO OF COURSE I HAD TO WRITE FOR HIM AFTER THE NEW EPISODE. I really hope we see him join the team or at least just more of him!
You were a mutant on Genosha when you met Kurt, he had helped show you and the other mutants around from your ship the island, and you had followed the handsome blue boy around like a lost little puppy. He was charming and mischievous, flirty with a cute fangy smile on his face. After the official tour was over, you asked him to show you some hidden gems of the island, to which he bowed and kissed your hand, âAs you wish!â before teleporting the two of you away from the crowd. He had showed you a beautiful, peaceful and tropical spot away from everyone else, where the two of you got to know each other, soon becoming friends and meeting at that spot almost every day
Heâd ask you out on a date pretty quick, heâs not shy about flirting at all and will make it clear that he finds you attractive and would like to know you more intimately. Heâd take you to a nice restaurant, showing up in a dashing suit to impress you and his curls gelled back in a slick style. Will compliment you on your dress/suit and have you twirl for him to see the full outfit, saying âMein gott! You look absolutely stunning, liebe!â before pulling out your seat for you like a gentleman and ordering a nice bottle of wine for the both of you to have with your dinner
After dinner you go for a walk around the gardens, holding Kurtâs arm he held out for you. His tail would curl around one of your legs as you talked, sitting on a bench together to view the night sky above the beautiful greenery together. Heâd want to know your life story and would share his with you, heâd want to know what you like to do, what you hate, what youâre afraid of, what you love, and heâd share all of that about himself with you as well
After a few dates you became official, more often than not staying with each other in your homes (weâll get to what goes on in the bedroom laterđ). Heâs a huge cuddler for sure, wants both his arms around you and his tail curled around your waist or leg. He doesnât mind being big spoon or little spoon, heâs perfectly content and happy with both and just wants to feel your skin against his. Heâs big on physical affection and PDA, he just loves you so much and heâs a physical guy in general. Wants to be able to hold your hand, give you kisses, wrap an arm around your waist, anything as long as he touching you in some way. Plus he likes to show off how lucky he got with you, showing you off and always making sure everyone knows heâs taken. Heâs highly sought after, after all (if you ask him)
Heâs always got a date planned, heâs definitely not one of those guys that lets the other do all the work in the relationship. Heâll take you to your favorite restaurants, do your favorite activities, anything you would like to do. Heâs adventurous and will try anything once, and will always make an effort to do things you enjoy. He will teach you some sword fighting skills, just you know how to use them and plus, do some borderline erotic sparring sessions with him of course! Itâs something he enjoys and wants to do with you, but if he ever cut you with a sword heâd want to damn himself to Hell because HOW DARE HE GIVE YOU A CUT LESS THAN A CENTIMETER LONG?! HEâS THE WORST PERSON TO EVER EXIST. He will bandage it and kiss it better, begging your forgiveness despite you already saying it wasnât a big deal and it didnât even hurt at all
When you were recruited to the X-Men, he was offered a spot as well so the both of you packed up and moved to the X-Mansion so you could help mutants from there. On missions, heâll always catch you if you fall and teleport you out of harms way. Definitely flirts during battle as well and likes to show off his skills to you, making you giggle and smile at him before focusing back on the mission. If you get hurt during it, heâll teleport you to the mansion immediately to the medical room before going to help his teammates so he can get you their help quicker. Will spend lots of time with you and cuddle with you while you recover, you donât have to lift a finger, this man will get you whatever you want
He does like to tease you a lot, things like squeezing your butt as you walk by or giving it a light smack with his tail. Will whisper innuendos and jokes to you during important meetings and such to make you giggle, to which Scott gives you a deadpan stare until the two of you refocus. His tail will move up your pants or skirt under the table, making your face heat up
Heâs constantly winning you over long after youâve become official. Will still bring you flowers, will still flirt with you, but heâs also the type to be like âWould you still love me if I was a bug?â He does need some reassurance due to his looks and how heâs been hated because of them, like, HE knows heâs sexy, but he wants to make sure YOU think heâs sexy. And you assure him you think he isâŹď¸âŹď¸
NSFW Under the Cut
Oh he is SUCH a lover boy. Heâs more focused on your pleasure than his own for sure, and my man is SKILLED and EXPERIENCED (everyone wants a taste of the fuzzy man-). His hands will be all over your body, even his tail will be wrapped around you as well, and heâll be mindlessly blabbering on and on in English and German about how much he loves you and how beautiful/handsome he thinks you are. My dude is AMAZING at giving you head, doesnât matter which genitals you have, heâs got experience with both and will have your legs shaking and your back arched far off the bed during round one. If youâre AFAB, heâd know exactly where the clit is and exactly how to pleasure it, rather than just roughly rubbing it and calling it good. If youâre AMAB, heâd for sure be fingering your ass while sucking you off, his other hand squeezing your thigh and spreading your legs for him while his tail holds your other leg for him, or even smacks your ass with it teasingly
You often insist on giving him head in return, which of course he doesnât mind but HE IS ALWAYS TRYING TO MAKE SEX ABOUT YOU, when you want to make it about HIM sometimes. Heâs so loving, caring and sweet to you, you just want to show him how much you love him as well and sometimes have to get that through his fuzzy head. He loves body worship for sure, so heâd love to hear you say how hot and sexy and handsome and adorable and beautiful he is while the two of you make love to each other, itâd make him cum 10x harder and faster
Heâd lowkey be kind of basic and love missionary, but heâs certainly not vanilla. He just wants to be able to see your face and to hold you close to him, so missionary tends to be good for that, but heâd also love it if you rode him and watch your chest bounce and toss your head back at the feeling of his cock inside of you. I honestly think heâs got more girth and length, but definitely not too short at all and would fit perfectly inside of you. He also likes to hold your hand during sex, which may be cheesy but he just wants to make sure youâre okay the whole time
Being in a mansion with many others, it is sometimes hard to find privacy and quiet time for longer than 20 minutes, so heâll sometimes teleport the two of you elsewhere so youâre not interrupted. When in your room at the mansion though, he likes to make you scream while teasing you to be quiet and that someone will hear you, covering your mouth with his hand or kissing you muffle your loud moans and whines for him. But when the two of you walk out to the living quarters to join some of the others, Jubilee and Roberto will not make eye contact, Morph will give Kurt a knowing smirk and a high five, while Gambit outright says âYou know we could hear yâall at it all the way down here-â before Scott gives you two the disappointed dad look and says âThere are children residing here.â

âGive us your child. And I will spare the Earth.â
The persistent terror that had been swirling around your chest at being in this place, at having to come there to bargain with an all-powerful being that was threatening the very world you lived on, was replaced by a wave of immediate horror. You werenât a mother, although you and Johnny had spoken about it and had agreed that one day in the near future, you would start a family, but you still could not fathom giving up a child to be consumed by Galactus, much less a child that was your own.
âNo.â
You had not expected anything else from Sue, and the way she presented herself -- firm and standing tall as she relayed her decision to Galactus -- made you feel a little more at ease. Sue was strong, resilient, and resourceful, and you were sure she had a different plan or would come up with another idea, together with Reed.
âYou would trade your whole planet for this child.â
It wasnât a question but a statement and as Galactus leaned closer to inspect you all, you could see Johnny moving a little closer to you from the corner of your eyes. You were unable and unwilling to tear your eyes from Galactus but you did move a little closer to Johnny, silently showing him that you were there.
âI will not, but I also wonât trade my child for Earth. You will not have my son.â
âHe is a being of unmatched power. He could absorb my hunger inside of him.â Galactus spoke, voice booming around the halls of his domain as his eyes roamed over all of you once more, inspecting each person standing before him. âIt must be him.â
âIt will not be him!â
âIt must be because he is soon to be born. My terrible hunger cannot wait for the other being that could squench it to be born, for her to be brought into this world.â
His eyes flickered to you and you felt your blood run cold as they travelled down your body to fix on your abdomen. Though you knew he was an infallible and all-powerful being, your first instinct was to doubt him and his words. You and Johnny had always been careful because you wanted to plan for a child when you were both absolutely ready. On instinct, your hand came down to cup your abdomen, to shield it while Johnnyâs head snapped toward you.
Yet, before he could say anything, Galactus turned his gaze to Sue and she doubled over in pain, exclaiming that the baby was coming. That prompted a quick retreat and you barely had the time to think about what Galactus had just implied as you made your way to the Excelsior. But when Johnny flamed up, which Reed had warned him would use up his oxygen supply faster, you felt your chest tighten at the idea of him putting himself in danger like that when you had just found out you were expecting a child.
You didnât get to dwell on these thoughts for long because the silver woman cut you all off just before you made it to the ship, bringing you back to reality. Your fight to escape continued, with Reed trying to get Sue back to the ship, Johnny trying to ward off the silver woman, Ben ending up rescuing him after his oxygen ran too low, and you eventually freezing your pursuer in place.
When you finally made it to the Excelsior, you immediately whipped around to check on Johnny and watched as he ripped off his helmet to take a deep gulp of air. You breathed a sigh of relief as you realised he was alright and when he turned to find you looking at him with a worried expression, he gave you a reassuring smile.
âAll good.â
âDo you have any idea how worried I was?â
âIâm sorry, Honey. But you know how resilient I am. I wouldnât leave you alone like that.â
His eyes flickered down to your abdomen and he opened his mouth to speak but was interrupted when Ben pulled him to his feet, urging him to get to the cockpit. With quick steps, you followed the two of them, one hand absentmindedly straying to cover your abdomen as you entered the cockpit. Once there, everyone was immediately up in arms to get off the planet and bring Sue back to safety before the silver woman could take the child from her.
In the end, it came down to everyoneâs combined efforts to get back to safety. Reedâs plan to fly close to the centre of a nearby black hole so the silver woman would be sucked into it worked out, with Ben assisting the birth, Johnny getting the ship to safety, you bringing it to a temperature at which it would hold steady and Sue turning it invisible at the right moments. And just as you escaped, you heard the cries of a baby.
âOur son.â Sue said in wonder as Ben handed her the child, cradling him to her chest. âHeâs safe. Franklin is safe.â
Reed looked terribly relieved as he embraced both her and the baby, though confusion etched onto his face. âFor someone that Galactus called a powerful being, he looks rather usual. We know nothing about him.â
As the adrenaline of the situation ebbed away and everyone gathered around the child, fussing over him, cooing at him and debating his powers, you felt yourself suddenly brought back to reality, to what Galactus had implied with his words. And as if you two were thinking in unison, which was something Sue liked to joke about all the time, Johnny turned to look at you.
âI think we need to adress the elephant in the room here.â
âWe do.â You said softly, daring to look up at Johnny to find him gazing back at you with an expression somewhere between joy, fear and disbelief. âWeâre all in agreement on what Galactus was implying when he said there was another child, right?â
Reed didnât give Johnny the chance to react before he piped up. âI can run tests to be sure of it but I doubt Galactus would lie about this.â
âMaybe we should give the two of them some space to talk.â Sue suggested, sitting up and nudging Reed with her elbow when he opened his mouth to speak again. âHelp me get to one of the beds, so I can rest with Franklin.â
Ben quickly rushed to her side and, together with Reed, helped her up. âIâm coming with you, to make sure youâre fine and to get away from this conversation.â
The three of them left, with Sue giving her brother a comforting smile and a reassuring squeeze to the shoulder. Then they were gone, the door swooshing shut behind them, leaving you alone with Johnny on either side of the console where you had previously stood to look at Franklin. You didnât exactly know what to say but you still spoke up because Johnny looked just as speechless as you.
âI also donât think Galactus was lying about this or trying to deceive us.â You said softly, your eyes flickering up to meet his and immediately welling up with tears when you saw the reassuring expression on his face. âI didnât know, I swear.â
âI believe you.â Johnny quickly rounded the console to take your hand into his. âBut we were so careful. I donât understand how this happened.â
âNot careful enough, it seems.â You whispered, squeezing is hand tightly as anxiety once more gripped your heart. âWhat do we do now, Johnny?â
âWell, I donât know about you but Iâm going to steal all of Reedâs books on child rearing once we get back to Earth.â Johnny joked, giving you a slightly uneasy grin in the hopes of lifting your spirits but when you started crying he immediately cursed himself, thinking heâd done something wrong. âIâm sorry, Honey. Iâll stop with the jokes, I promise. Iâm just nervous about being a dad and they-- and I just--â
You just shook your head and embraced Johnny tightly, softly sobbing into his shoulder. âNo, no, you didnât do anything wrong! Iâm just overwhelmed and I-- You are so ready to step up and be a father, to do whatever it takes to be prepared and to make me smile and-- and I love you so much, Johnny.â
âOf course, Iâll step up and be the babyâs father. That is our daughter weâre talking about, if Galactus is right about the gender, and I-- I mean, Iâm scared and worried but Iâm ready.â Johnny whispered, blinking against the tears in his eyes as he held you tightly. âHoney, do you want to have this baby, too?â
For a second, you just froze and mulled his question over in your head. You two had always wanted to have children but had not really talked about when and you knew that now was not the ideal time to be pregnant. But you couldnât deny that the thought of carrying your and Johnnyâs child, of having a baby sooner rather than later, was making your heart swell with happiness. So, despite the danger of your current situation, you found yourself nodding.
âI do. Itâs sooner than we expected and-- and we havenât been trying for a baby but I-- I really want to have this child with you.â You confessed, pulling back to look at Johnny with teary eyes. âDo you want this child?â
Johnny nodded slowly, as if unsure of whether or not it was the right answer. âI do, Honey. We didnât plan for this but-- but I mean, Susie and Reed had given up on having a baby and they werenât expecting the pregnancy, either. And look how happy they are. I think weâre going to be just as happy.â
âWe will be.â You said and leaned in to press a chaste kiss to his lips. âBut what about Galactus? What if he comes for our daughter? He said she would be powerful enough to sustain him and if he canât get to Franklin, he might try to get to our child.â
âI wonât let him touch our daughter.â
You looked at his determined eyes and took a deep, steadying breath, feeling calmer at how certain he was in his words. âWe will protect her. And perhaps, by the time she is born, weâll have defeated Galactus.â
âThatâs the spirit, Honey.â Johnny sighed softly and pulled you back into a tight embrace. âI canât believe Iâm going to be a father. Once weâre back on Earth, I've got to prepare.â
âWe have nine months to prepare, Johnny.â
âThey will go by before you know it!â He exclaimed jokingly, pressing a kiss to your head. âBut together, we can do anything.â
âI know we can.â
Johnny smiled softly, resting his cheek against your head as he held you, cradling you in his embrace. âWith how Galactus induced Sueâs labour and figured out you were pregnant before either of us did, he should have become a gynaecologist rather than a cosmic entity that feasts on planets.â
âHe really went down the wrong career path.â You joked, the anxiety in your chest leaving as Johnny held you and joked around with you, knowing that he was by your side and that together you would be fine. âI love you so much, Johnny.â
Hi can I request a femreader/ nightcrawler story where the reader is shy and anxious, while Kurt misunderstands this as her thinking heâs a monster?
But in truth sheâs been trying to confess her feelings to him but she always backs out last minute in fear?
Thank you!
A/N: The way Iâve probably imagined this scenario at 12 years old laying in bed at night. I also made the reader friends with Rogue, Jean and Ororo since sheâs closer to their ages
âSugah, yer lookinâ more nervous than a long-tailed pussy cat in a room full oâ rockinâ chairs!â Rogue tapped your shoulder as she walked into the lounging area, where you were having morning coffee with Jean and Ororo. âWhatâs gotcha all riled up, huh?â
âKurtâs playing basketball with the others outside...in shorts.â Jean quipped before taking a sip of coffee, a playful grin on her face. Ororo chuckled at the embarrassed face you made, as if someone just walked in on you changing.
âJean!â You whined, face turning redder when Rogue started laughing.
âOh, Y/N! Weâre just teasing!â Jean giggled as you pouted at all of them finding your embarrassment amusing.
âI just donât see why you havenât told him about her feelings yet!â
They all knew youâve had the biggest crush on the fuzzy blue X-Man, Nightcrawler, ever since he joined the team a few months ago. He was always so nice to everyone, including you, and he seemed to always say the right thing at the right time. He even made your morning coffee sometimes when you got up late, knowing everyoneâs coffee order by heart by now.
The boys were outside playing basketball with Jubilee and Roberto, showing the younger ones how it was done. You watched out the window at the court, seeing Gambit and Wolverine battling for the ball before Kurt teleported between them and snatched the ball from them, tossing it into the basket and laughing when they both started yelling about the âno powersâ rule. You smiled before realizing you were staring, clearing your throat and turning to Rogue.
âYou know I get too nervous around your brother, I canât even ask him to pass the salt at dinner!â
âYer always nervous, thatâs fine! But yâknow, he totally likes you too. I can tell.â
âNo he doesnât.â You shook your head in denial.
âYes he does.â All three women said at the same time, side eyeing you or rolling their eyes.
âMy dear, Kurt is a very charismatic man, but he goes out of his way to make you smile every chance he gets.â Ororo set her hand atop of yours. âI even see a flash of disappointment when you flee from his advances.â
âReally?â You asked, feeling a bit guilty about making him feel bad. You were a generally nervous person, but your anxiety sky rocketed around him, your heart always felt like it would explode out of your chest when he got close to you or touched you. It was difficult to hold eye contact with him, your nerves getting the best of you and looking down at the floor while you spoke to him. Youâd give him a scared smile when he handed you things, your blood running cold when his hand brushed up against yours during those exchanges. You often found your eyes wandering to him when he wasnât focused on you, it was easier to look at him when you knew he wasnât aware of you checking him out. You loved the way his tail squashed playfully as he joked around with Morph, how his ear would twitch like a cats when he heard someone new enter the room, how his fangs gleamed when he smiled or how his bright yellow eyes sparked with mischief during a fight.
âOkayâŚyou know what? Todays the day, today I need to confess to him! If I donât today, I never will cause Iâm a baby and will back out.â You stood up confidently.
âYeah! Go get em, tiger!â Rogue cheered as you walked away, then lowered her voice. âShe ainât gonna.â
âI think Y/N can do things she sets her mind to.â Storm defended you.
âWanna put ten bucks on it?â Rogue raised an eyebrow and cheekily grinned.
ââŚyouâre on.â Storm nodded, shaking her hand as Jean spoke up, saying sheâd bet alongside Storm that you could do it.
âYou know I can still hear you all?â You crossed your arms from the window, getting a closer look and watching Kurt dodge Robertoâs lunge. Your friends all laughed as you shook your head, trying to get ahold of your nerves.
How were you supposed to tell the most handsome, heroic, sweetest, most amazing person ever you were in love with them? Kurt was genuinely the kindest person youâd ever met, giving you butterflies when you watched him comfort a mutant child during a fight, or how he helped his teammates so gently when they were injured. You couldnât fathom how people were afraid or disgusted by him, he was the most gorgeous man in the world. How you could see a tinge of indigo under his blue fur when he blushed or bruised, how sculpted and chiseled he was yet also was so soft to look at. When he wore sweatpants and a tank top after training one day, you swore you would have a heart attack right then and there seeing how attractive he looked in the outfit. You adored sneaking peeks of him working out alone, his muscles bulging when he did push ups or pull ups on a bar, how flexible and agile he was and how effortless he made it look. Youâd stand outside the door until you felt you would get caught staring, not wanting to seem like a creep.
You were suddenly pulled out of your thoughts when the door opened, Wolverine carrying Jubilee, pretending to be limp and passed out in his arms.
âWhat happened?â Jean asked as the girls all stood up from their little coffee and gossip session.
âShe tripped and scraped her knee trying to get the ball from Logan!â Morph snickered as they all filed inside.
âIâve been attacked! He pushed me and now Iâm severely wounded!â Jubilee whined dramatically as Logan set her down on the counter. You waited for Kurt while you listened to Jubilee and Wolverine bicker about the seriousness of her cut knee, feeling your heart skip a beat when he finally walked in, chatting with Hank.
âUmâŚhey, Kurt?â You spoke quietly, but Kurtâs ear twitched and picked up your shy voice.
âYes, Miss Y/N?â He asked, stopping and letting Hank go ahead of him.
âIâŚumâŚcould you find a first aid kit, please?â
You blushed when you heard your friends laugh behind you and Storm and Jean handed Rogue money, knowing Kurt was looking past you at them, wondering what they were doing. You felt like a dork backing out of confessing and asking him to do something you could easily do, but you changed your mind at the last second that you werenât ready yet.
âSure.â He smiled, before bamfing off. You turned and glared at your friends, before walking walked over to Jubilee, seeing blood dripping down her shin and gravel from the court embedded inside of it.
âOuch, let me clean that for you.â You said and wet a paper towel, ignoring Logan saying how she was fine and it was part of growing up and being a kid. You kneeled down and patted down Jubileeâs injury, soaking up the blood and wiping out any gravel from the wound.
âHere you are, Y/N.â You heard a familiar sweet, velvety voice beside you. You looked over and saw Nightcrawler holding out a first aid kit from the nearest bathroom, a charming grin on his face.
âOh, um, thank you Kurt.â You smiled at him shyly, before quickly turning your attention to Jubilee. You didnât see the look of rejection in his yellow eyes as the irritated twitch of his tail at that, before he sighed and bamfed off again.
*a couple hours later*
âMein Gott!â The mutant shouted in surprise, also not paying attention to where he was going before tumbling backwards at the collision. You were on your way to training, focusing on wrapping up your hands to look where you were going. Now, you knocked down the last person you wanted to. You felt bad seeing the gorgeous man on the floor because of you.
âKurt! Iâm so sorry! Here, let me help!â You held a hand out to him, but he got up himself.
âIt is fine.â He said simply before walking past you, then suddenly pausing and turning to you. âMay I ask you something?â
âSure.â You fidgeted with your hands nervously, anxious for the question.
âDo youâŚhave I offended you in some way?â He asked, his eyes flashing with a bit of sadness.
âWhat? No? Why would you think that?â You asked, worried your timid behavior had finally kicked you in the ass.
âYou tend to just brush me off, Iâve noticed. Lately you donât really look at me, you respond with few words to me. I just thoughtâŚmaybe I did something to scare you? Disgust you? Perhaps IâŚyou think Iâm a monster?â
You stared at him in the hallway, shock freezing your thoughts for a moment. How could he ever think your awkwardness around him could be because you thought he was disgusting? That he thought you found him frightening? You hadnât realized how not making eye contact or responding curtly would come across to him, a man whoâs been persecuted and attacked his whole life for how he looked. He was the most admirable, amazing person youâd ever met and you made him feel like a monster.
âKurt, no! Not at all! I justâŚI do like you, I do! You justâŚmake me very nervous. More so than I usually amâŚâ
âHow? Do I intimidate you?â He tilted his head in confusion. âI do not mean to-â
âItâs not that, really. I uhâŚI just really admire you, I guess. You make me more nervous than the others becauseâŚbecause I really like youâŚa lot.â You looked down at the floor, shyly looking up into his eyes. His face relaxed when he finally understood what you meant.
âOhâŚI apologize for thinking so little of your actions. You are understanding and non judge mental, I should never have assumed what I did about you. How about I take you out to apologize for my ignorance?â He flashed his fangs at you in a charming smile, slowly approaching you before he was close enough to hold out a hand to you.
âI-IâŚokay.â You took his hand and sheepishly smiled up at him, allowing him to guide you down the hall. âIâm really sorry I made you feel like I-â
âNo apology necessary, Y/N, really. Iâm just glad weâve come toâŚan understanding.â He grinned, bringing your hand up to his lips to place a soft kiss on your knuckles. You blushed and giggled at the action

âI could get used to this.â
Bucky snorted from where he lay beside you in bed on his back with his left arm angled underneath his head and his right one pulling you close to his body. Smiling at his laughter, you cuddled closer to his side, resting your head on the junction where his shoulder met his chest with your leg hooked over his.
âGet used to what? Having sex more often or doing it without any protection?â
âBoth, I reckon.â You shrugged a little, bringing a hand up to stroke his jaw as you gaze at his face. âI just love feeling you so close.â
Bucky smiled at that before reaching up to place his hand over yours. âIâm glad youâre seeing the positive side to it not having worked yet.â
âI mean, I was disappointed that the first test I took was negative but weâve only been trying for a bit over a month, so I was sort of expecting it not to have worked, yet.â You turned onto your stomach and crossed your arms on Buckyâs chest. âIâve read up on it before taking that test and people online kept saying that it could take a few months.â
You felt Buckyâs chest moving underneath your arms and head as he heaved a deep sigh, right arm coming up to wrap around your waist and pull you closer to him. For a second, you wondered why heâd gone so quiet but then his hand wandered lower and grabbed your butt, making you squeal in surprise.
âBucky!â
âWhat?â He chuckled, pressing a chaste kiss to your lips as he pulled you closer with the hand that was still on your butt. âIâm trying to up the chances that the next test will be positive.â
âHow noble of you.â You chuckled and inched a bit closer to his face. âWhat noble thing will you do next? Hold my legs up to make sure the sperm stays inside long enough?â
âDoll!â
âSo you get to be inappropriate but I donât?â Narrowing your eyes playfully, you sat up, moving your leg fully over his hips to straddle them. âWhat hypocrisy!â
Bucky chuckled at your words before pulling you into a deep kiss, only separating when you pushed back a little to come up for air. He kept his face close to yours, forehead against yours and a soft smile on his lips.
âAll inappropriate jokes aside, Iâm really happy weâre trying for a baby.â
âMe, too.â You said softly, pressing a chaste kiss to his lips. âWant to try again?â
Bucky pressed a kiss to your temple before sitting up. âActually, I need to feed our girl first. Because if Alpine doesnât get her food at the right time, she will riot.â
âWe wouldnât want that to happen.â You nodded wisely, sitting up and pulling your blanket over your chest as you watched him get out of bed and put on a pair of boxers. âBut youâll hurry back, right?â
âI will be back before you even know Iâm gone, Doll.â
---
For the first month or two, you kept trying without much scheduling, just having unprotected intercourse and hoping for the best. But when the next two tests came back negative, the two of you decided that you should try timing sex with your ovulation, to give you a better chance of conceiving. And when the fourth month of trying passed without a positive test, Bucky even set an alarm on his phone.
It was that alarm that clued his best friend in on what you two were doing. Before starting to try for a baby you two had decided not to tell anyone at first, not wanting everyone asking about it should there be any issues. But when Bucky met with Sam a few days after originally setting the alarm, he forgot to put it on silent and while they were talking, it went off. And the song Bucky used as an alarm tone made Sam look up.
âIs that âCareless Whisperâ?â
Bucky scrambled to get his phone out of his pocket as Sam began to laugh, the sound of it ringing through the otherwise empty living room. âDamn it, I forgot to turn the alarm off!â
âWhat is that alarm even for if âCareless Whisperâ is the song you chose for it?â
âOvulation.â Bucky explained matter-of-factly but when he caught his friend eyeing him with a confused yet amused expression on his face he rolled his eyes. âI am not the one ovulating, Sam!â
Sam snorted at that and shook his head. âI know youâre not the one ovulating! Donât be a smartass to me, Buck. Why do you have an alarm set for your partnerâs ovulation?â
âWeâre trying for a baby.â
âCongrats on rawdogging it.â
âSam!â
The man in question just chuckled before he shook his head and gave Bucky an earnest smile. âIâm just messing with you, Buck. Iâm really happy for you two. How long have you been trying?â
âAbout four months.â Bucky explained before he bit his bottom lip, pulling it into his mouth with his teeth as he thought for a few seconds. âI know it can take some time but Iâm getting a bit anxious, for lack of a better word, that it hasnât worked, yet. And I think Iâm not the only one feeling a bit nervous.â
âI mean, I canât tell you that I understand because I havenât been in that situation before, but I can imagine that itâs kind of nerve-wracking for the two of you.â Sam said softly before reaching out to place a hand on top of Buckyâs, feeling it unclench underneath his grasp. âIâm sure it will work out eventually.â
âYou think so?â
âYeah, I mean you got that supersoldier sperm.â Sam said jokingly, earning himself an annoyed sigh from Bucky which only made him joke around more. âAnd with you two rawdogging it on the regular I bet youâll have a baby on the way soon.â
âSam, stop saying weâre rawdogging it!â Bucky complained, shoving at his friendâs shoulder before shaking his head and sighing. âBut as unpleasant as youâre making it all sound, thank you for lightening the mood.â
âOne of us has to do it and I doubt youâd lighten the mood with how grumpy you are.â Sam chuckled and leaned back on the couch, nodding his head toward Buckyâs phone. âShouldnât you text your partner and tell her youâre ovulating?â
Opening his mouth, Bucky prepared ot retaliate with a joke of his own but was interrupted when her heard footsteps approaching and when he turned he saw you stopping in the hallway. You greeted Sam before leaning against the doorway, arms crossed over your chest and a soft smile on your lips.
âYou two look like youâre having fun.â
âCome sit with us, Doll.â
âI donât know if I want to if the conversational topics consist of my boyfriend ovulating and us ârawdoggingâ it.â You joked but sat down next to Bucky anyway, pulling your legs onto the sofa as you leaned against the back of it. âI take it you told Sam about our plans.â
Bucky looked back at you, his face uncertain as he slowly nodded. âIâm sorry, Doll. The ovulation alarm went off and Sam was a bit confused about it.â
âItâs fine, Sweetheart.â You said gently, leaning in to press a kiss to his cheek before looking back at Sam. âJust maybe donât tell everyone about it. We kind of want to be the ones doing that when it worked.â
Sam made a lip-sealing motion before smiling at you. âIâm happy for you two. Just donât pressure yourselves too much. Iâm sure it will work eventually.â
âThanks, Sam. I know it can take some time but itâs still a bit disheartening that it hasnât worked, yet.â You explained, leaning your head onto Buckyâs shoulder. âBut Iâm sure it eventually will work, youâre right.â
âI mean, I donât know that much about it but for my sister Sarah and her late husband it took some time for her first son, too. I remember her coming to me for months, upset that it hadnât worked yet, but eventually it did.â Sam recounted, smiling a little more when he saw you relax. âIâll keep my fingers crossed for you two.â
âThank you, Sam. Not to be too sentimental here, but your words mean a lot.â Bucky said with a genuine smile before he grabbed your hands tightly and nodded toward the door. âAnd I know I might sound like an ass asking you this but you heard the alarm go off, so--â
Sam was up on his feet in seconds, throwing his hands up in mock defeat before nodding his head. âDonât have to tell me twice! Have fun, Iâll see you later! Is that weird to say? Whatever, Iâll be on my way! Good luck!â
With that, he left and Bucky turned to you, hands finding your hips and pulling you into his lap in one swift motion before he ducked his head to press kisses along your neck. You sighed softly at his ministrations, taking hold of his shoulders as you moved against his body, tilting your head to give him better access.
âLetâs go and put a baby in you, Doll.â
---
During the fifth month of your journey to try and conceive, you took three tests in total, all of which came back negative. It was the last test, taken because youâd been late that month and also showing only one line, that left you sitting on the bathroom floor, curled against the bathtub and trying not to cry. As much as you longed for your partnerâs comfort, for his strong arms to hold you and him to gently reassure you like heâd done for the past months, you also didnât want to tell him that it hadnât worked again.
So you pulled yourself to your feet, splashed some water into your face, hid the test and went on with your day, doing some chores and cuddling with Alpine on the sofa. While you did so, you kept pushing down all the thoughts that swirled around your head about the negative test, especially that tiny voice in the back of your head that whispered on about how perhaps it would never work, that there might be something wrong with you.
Bucky had been out with Sam and Joaquin, coming back in time for dinner to find you just putting the vegetable lasagna you made into the oven. Immediately, he crossed the width of the kitchen to wrap his arms around your middle.
âHow did I get so lucky to come home to you?â He whispered as he kissed your neck gently. âAre you making your amazing lasagna?â
âI felt like having it again.â You smiled, leaning back into his touch and placing your hands on top of his. âDo you want to sit down while we wait for it?â
âIâd rather keep holding you.â Bucky sighed softly and buried his face in your neck. âMy get-together with Sam and Joaquin got interrupted by a call from work. Thereâs a mission I have to go on with them and we leave tomorrow morning.â
Your face fell at that, not keen on having your partner leave but you also knew that the people needed him. âWhat mission? And why are only you three called to go?â
âWe have to retrieve data on a biochemical weapon that has been in development by an underground organisation, and bring it to SHIELD for safekeeping.â He explained, arms tightening around your body. âI donât quite know why they wouldnât ask you to help or Natasha or anyone else.â
âYouâll be careful, right?â
âOf course, Doll. And if everything goes smoothly, Iâll be back in two days. Youâll have Alpine here to keep you company or you could invite Natasha over if you get bored.â With that, he dipped his face lower to press a few kisses along your neck. âHow long will the food take?â
âAbout thirty-five minutes. Why are you asking?â
Your answer came in the form of Bucky spinning you around so you were facing him and then pulling you close to his body, your hips flush against his and one of his hands on the back of your neck. With your face inches from his, understanding of what he wanted to do dawned on you and you smiled up at him.
âI think I know what you have in mind.â
âI will be gone for two days, so maybe we should use the time until the food is done to up our chances of conceiving.â He whispered, lips just barely touching yours. âWhat do you say, Doll?â
âI would love to feel you close to me.â
Twenty minutes later found you two on the sofa, not quite having made it to your bed, Bucky on his back and you snug against his side, head on his chest as he played with your hair. His fingers strayed from it only to draw little shapes into the skin of your back. But you found yourself unable to enjoy the feeling of his gentle ministrations, thoughts racing about whether or not it had worked this time, if you would finally fall pregnant. Bucky seemed to realise that something was up because he stilled his movements to look at you.
âDoll, what are you thinking about?â
For a second, you contemplated lying about what was troubling you but you and Bucky had always been honest with each other, so you decided to tell him the truth -- or a watered-down version of it as not to worry him too much before his mission.
âIâm just wondering whether or not it worked this time.â
âMaybe it has.â Bucky said gently, pushing himself up onto his elbows and making you look up at him. âI mean, logically, the more we do it, the more likely it is to work, right?â
âI donât know.â
Bucky frowned at the almost dejected tone of your voice and you worried that you had said too much, had revealed too much of your concern before his mission. But your worries were quickly stifled when, in one swift movement, he sat up, grabbed your ankles and lifted your feet into the air, making you squeal in surprise as your hands found the sides of the sofa for purchase.
âWhat are you doing?â
Chuckling at your exclamation, he leaned to the side, head appearing beside your calves to look at you with a grin. âWhat you said I should do after we first started trying.â
âThat was a joke!â You exclaimed but you couldnât help but laugh at his actions. âPut me down! It was meant as a joke back then!â
He held you in place for a few more seconds, raising an eyebrow at you before he lowered you onto the couch and crawled atop of you, metal hand supporting his weight next to your head while his other found your cheek. âI know it was meant as a joke back then but I think it did its job because it made you laugh. You look so beautiful when you laugh.â
âAre you going to get sentimental on me now?â You whispered, reaching up to stroke his hair, tugging a strand of it behind his ear as you gave him a genuine smile, vowing that next month you would tell him about every test despite your worries. âYou sap.â
âLove, donât put too much pressure on yourself. It will work, I know it. Maybe it will take a bit longer but Iâm sure weâll be parents one day.â He promised, leaning down to press a gentle kiss to your forehead. âYou heard Sam; for his sister it also took a while and she has two happy, healthy boys now.â
âThank you, Bucky.â
âAnd just for the record, I donât mind sleeping with you again and again until itâs worked.â
âHow selfless of you!â You laughed, poking him in the stomach and making him giggle softly. âYouâre so heroic.â
âI do what I can.â
---
Your fingers tapped along the rim of the bathtub you were sitting on as you stared intently at the timer youâd set on your phone, eyes periodically trailing back to the little white stick on the sink. Every test so far had been negative, despite you two trying relentlessly and Buckyâs ovulation alarm. While you were still very much aware that it could take some time, you were by now seven months into your journey of trying to conceive and your anxieties were starting to get the better of you.
âStop checking the test, Doll. When the timer goes off, weâll check it.â Bucky whispered from next to you, reaching out to grab your hand and hold it between both of his. âI can tell youâre worried but if itâs negative again, itâs not a big deal. Weâll just keep trying.â
âYouâre upset about it, too.â
âDoll, please donât worry about me.â
âHow can I not worry when youâre upset?â You asked, looking away from the timer to face Bucky. âYouâre here comforting me and youâre upset yourself. Are you disappointed that it hasnât worked yet?â
Bucky was quiet for a second, simply looking back at you but then he turned on the edge of the bathtub so he was properly facing you and nodded. âEver since we decided to try for a baby Iâve been so-- so excited, if thatâs the right word. I canât wait for it to work, for you to get pregnant and to eventually meet my son or daughter.â
âAnd the last tests were negative.â
âYes. Last month, when you said you were late again, I thought it might have worked but then the tests were negative and I-- I was just disappointed.â Bucky concluded, still holding your gaze as he squeezed your hand. âBut I can tell that youâre upset about it, as well, and I want to be there for you, so please stop worrying about me.â
âOh, Bucky.â You whispered softly and reached up to cup his cheek. âI am upset, yes, but that doesnât mean that you arenât allowed to feel your feelings. If youâre upset, then I want to comfort you, too.â
Bucky looked at you for a few seconds and just as he opened his mouth to answer the timer went off. Both of you stilled and after taking a shaky breath you reached out for the test, just to feel your heart break all over again as you looked down at it.
âNegative again.â
You looked at Bucky just in time to see him wiping at his eyes before he put on a small smile that didnât really seem genuine. âItâs alright, Doll. Weâll just keep trying.â
âYouâre upset about it.â You whispered out, feeling tears beginning to fall from your eyes as you shook your head. âDonât-- Donât shove away your feelings to comfort me. I just-- Please, let me be there for you.â
âBut youâre crying.â Bucky argued, pointing out the tears in your eyes as ones of his own began trailing down his cheeks. âAnd now Iâm crying.â
âI guess then we both need to cry.â You concluded as you allowed your tears to fall from your eyes and placed the test back on the sink. âCould you hold me?â
Your words spurred Bucky into motion and he reached out to gather you into his arms before burying his face in your hair, silent sobs wracking his body as you began to cry into his shoulder, hands clinging to his shirt. The two of you sat with each other, crying and trying to comfort one another, for what felt like hours but was in reality little more than twenty minutes.
Thoughts kept racing through your brain about how the test was negative again, how perhaps there was something wrong with you or how you might even be unable to have children. This time you were unable to ignore these thoughts and fear crept up inside of you, clawing its way up your throat until it escaped through your mouth in a heart-wrenching sob. Bucky squeezed you impossibly tight at that, his voice rough and watery from crying as he spoke up again.
âTry to take a deep breath for me, Doll.â
You just shook your head and dug your fingers into his back. âWhat if I canât have children? What if thereâs soemthing wrong with me?â
Bucky froze up as you spoke the words youâd been dreading to even think for the past two months and despite your attempts to cling to him he pulled back, gathering your face in his hands and making you look up at him. Tears were still running down his face but the look in his eyes was stern, his expression serious.
âThere is nothing wrong with you, you hear me? Even if you canât have children, there would still be nothing wrong with you.â
âBut I--â
âNo, I donât want any talk-back about that. If you were unable to have children, that would just mean there was something different about your body, but that doesnât mean it would be wrong.â He said so sternly that any words of protest died down before you could even form them in your mouth. âEven if that were the case, then we would find a way. There are so many medical advances these days or we could adopt a child. We will find a way and I will be by your side no matter what happens.â
âI love you so much, James.â
âI love you, too.â Bucky whispered and leaned in to press a kiss to your head. âBut speaking of medical advances, do you think we should talk to somebody about this? Perhaps a doctor could tell us if something was up and help us conceive.â
You nodded at that, reaching up to wipe at your teary eyes. âMaybe thatâs a good idea. Should we try asking Bruce? Heâs a good friend and I trust him.â
âIf you trust him, then I trust him.â Bucky said before he pursed his lips in thought. âBut I think Sam said that after the battle with Thanos he sort of dropped off the face of the Earth and is most likely living somewhere remote now. Do you think he wants us to reach out to him about this?â
âHe doesnât want to fight anymore, thatâs why he left. But I doubt he would be upset if we asked him about this.â You reasoned and let your eyes flicker to the phone still lying on the sink. âWe could ask Natasha.â
âThen we would have to tell her about how weâre trying to conceive.â
âI think we should tell her. She is our best friend after all.â
âThat is true.â
---
âWe need your help.â
Natasha perked up at your words, eyes flickering down to where you were nervously clutching Buckyâs flesh hand in yours, her fingers stilling where they were petting Alpineâs white fur. âWhatâs going on? Are you alright? Do you need me to help you bury a body or something? You know I would.â
âI know you would but thatâs not what we need help with.â You shook your head before taking a deep breath. âBucky and I are trying for a baby.â
Natashaâs mouth fell open at your words before she clasped her hands together and her face morphed into a bright smile. Then Natasha got up, to the great dismay of the feline on her lap who loudly proclaimed her disdain as she jumped off the sofa. But she ignored the cat for the moment being, opting to instead quickly draw you into a tight embrace, holding you with one arm while her free hand clasped Buckyâs shoulder.
âThatâs amazing! Iâm so happy for the two of you and I just know you will be amazing parents!â She drew back and fixed you with a raised eyebrow. âAnd I also know that Iâll be a great godmother, wonât I?â
âTrust me, if anyone would be our childrenâs godmother, it would be you.â
Natasha sat back in her seat but after a few seconds of thinking her face fell a little, smile disappearing to make way for a concerned frown. âWait, you said you needed my help and then you tell me you two are trying for a baby. Whatâs going on? How can I help with that?â
You had rehearsed this conversation about a hundred times before meeting up with Natasha but still you were at a loss for words, eyes falling to your lap as you squeezed Buckyâs hand nervously. He looked back at you as you squeezed his hand and placed his metal one atop of yours before he spoke up.
âWe have been trying for over seven months now but weâve had no luck conceiving.â Bucky explained and you could hear the emotions in his voice. âNot to go into too much detail but after two months or so of it not working, weâve really been actively trying, tracking ovulation and all that but it still hasnât worked, yet.â
âIâm sorry to hear that.â Natasha said with a frown and when you looked up she caught your gaze. âBut I still donât understand how I can help you with that.â
âWeâre a little worried that something is not quite how itâs supposed to be with either one of us and we were hoping that you could contact Bruce, so he can run some tests.â
Bucky nodded along to your words. âWe know he left for a reason but we were hoping that this would be something heâd be willing to do. Would you do that for us?â
âOf course, and Iâm sure he will help you. Itâs not like youâre asking him to fend off an alien invasion with you.â Natasha said, giving you two an optimistic smile. âIâm sure thereâs nothing off with either of you. Iâve talked to Clint when his wife was pregnant the first time and he told me it took them almost a year to conceive.â
Tears rose in your eyes at how she was trying to comfort you two. âI know and-- and Sam told us the same was true for Sarah but every month itâs so hard to just-- to find out it hasnât worked and Iâm so scared that it might never work.â
âCome here, Doll.â Bucky whispered before he pulled you tightly to his side. âWith Bruceâs help, Iâm sure it will work before we know it. Right, Nat?â
âIâm sure of it!â
---
You had never been so thankful to be holding Buckyâs hand as you were at this moment, sitting opposite Bruce on the sofa in his living room as he held a tablet in his hands that undoubtedly contained the results of the tests he had done on you and Bucky. Fear was clawing at your heart, squeezing it so tightly that you worried it would just burst, and with the way Bucky was clinging to your hand you knew he wasnât any less terrified.
Bruce had been nothing but kind to you two, offering you beverages and snacks, talking you through all the procedures and offering to have a colleague of his come in to do some of the more invasive tests should either of you feel uncomfortable with having him perform them. But despite his best efforts, you were a ball of nerves, feeling close to shaking out of your own skin.
âI wonât beat around the bush or keep you in suspense.â Bruce started, undoubtedly taking note of the emotional state you two were in. âYou can relax because I have good news. All the tests came back clinically unremarkable, meaning everything is the way it is supposed to be, so to speak. Both of you are in perfect health and have no underlying medical conditions that would make it harder or let alone impossible to conceive.â
You felt as though the weight of the world had been lifted from your shoulder and you couldnât help but slump against Bucky, all the tension and anxiety youâd been feeling for months leaving you all at once, and tears sprang to your eyes. When you turned to Bucky you found him smiling back at you, his posture visibly relaxing and you quickly threw your arms around his neck while his found their way to your hips. No words were exchanged as the two of you held each other but you knew you shared the same feeling of relief.
âIâm sure this is a big relief for you two.â Bruce said softly, tentatively as he put his tablet away. âAlso, can I just say that Iâm really happy for the two of you? Youâll be great parents and really you deserve to be happy.â
Separating from Bucky, you gave Bruce a big smile but then a question came to your mind, breaking through your relief and filling you with a new sense of unease. âIf there is nothing wrong, then why hasnât it worked? Weâve been trying for over seven months now and the tests are still negative.â
âYou know, stress can delay ovulation and cause changes in hormone levels.â
âWhat do you mean?â
âI know this situation isnât ideal but youâre stressing about it too much. Stress can cause all sorts of changes in the human body, even ones that can affect conception.â Bruce explained, leaning forward and supporting his elbows on his knees as he spoke in a gentle but stern voice. âYou need to try and be calm about this. Trust me, I know thatâs easier said than done but perhaps if you stopped putting so much pressure on yourself and stopped stressing yourselves out so much it will happen soon.â
You reached up to wipe at your eyes, his words hitting hard since youâve been so anxious for months now. âWe will try. Thank you, Bruce.â
âYes, thank you.â Bucky agreed, once more pulling your hand into his lap to hold it tightly between both of his. âBut is there nothing we can do to improve our chances?â
âNot more than you already are. You told me youâre not using contraceptives and even tracking ovulation, so youâre really doing all you can.â Bruce explained before pursing his mouth in thought. âIâd say give it few more months. Keep trying and try not to put too much pressure on yourselves. If it still hasnât worked by December, give me another call and come see me again, alright? Then we can think about taking other measures but for now, just try to enjoy the journey.â
Bucky nodded his head along to Bruceâs words, listening attentively before a soft smile spread on his lips and he squeezed your hands tightly. âBruce is right, Doll. We should not put too much pressure on ourselves because itâs clearly not doing us any favours with how stressed and anxious we have been. Letâs just enjoy the journey. I know Iâm enjoying it.â
âIâm also enjoying our journey of trying to become parents, even if itâs taking longer than expected.â You leaned closer to Bucky, your anxieties gone after hearing the good news from Bruce and his encouraging words. âNot to get too sentimental, but despite all our worries, I still love experiencing all of this with you. I love you and I wouldnât want to do it with anyone else.â
âSame here, Doll.â Bucky said softly, eyes glimmering with moisture as he looked back at you. âNo matter how long we have to try or how anxious we might feel during this journey, I also love experiencing it all with you because I love you, too.â
âThen letâs just keep enjoying the journey and hopefully it will work out soon because Iâm really excited to start a family with you.â
âI am excited to start a family with you, too.â

â AUTHOR NOTE. REPOST!
âYelena...â Alexei's loud voice greeted Yelena's ears, as soon as she collapsed back onto the couch. Yelena groaned, reaching her hand up to rub her temple. She could already feel a migraine building up. She loved Alexei, don't get her wrong; he was the only person she had left from her childhood, but Alexei had a knack for knowing what annoyed Yelena. Yelena huffed, âYes, Alexei?â
âI have come with a new mission for you!â Alexei gave Yelena a grin; his gold teeth reflecting on the light, making Yelena hold her hand in front of her face with a grimace. Yelena blinked. âWhat? Me and Bucky usually choose the mission-â Alexei shoved his hand over Yelena's mouth. âSh! Yelena, this is perfect for you!â
Yelena peeked her eyes over Alexei's hand; a blank look on her face. Yelena bit his hand, with enough force for Alexei to flinch back, cursing in russian. âYelena!â Alexei whined. âI am doing something fantastic for you,â Alexei stepped back, reaching his hands out in a proud gesture. Yelena raised her eyebrow. âThis mission will be with your beautiful, ĐиНаŃ!â
Yelena blinked. âHer beautiful sweetheart?Ň Yelena's face narrowed; jumping up from the couch. Yelena accusingly pointed a finger at her father. âAlexei! You did not. You know how I feel about this.â Yelena snuffed, worriedly starting to pace. Alexei didn't feel Yelena's anxiousness. âThis could be the perfect time to confess your love with a daring act!â Alexei made a motion as if he was holding something dear to him. Yelena hands smacked onto her face.
Yelena hated this, but she should have expected it. Everyone on the team knew she was head-over heels for you. Bob, the oblivious man, that he even noticed! He would grin mischievously, whenever he saw her place her hand on your back to steady you. Walker and his annoying âCome on, lovebirds!â that made Yelena want to strangle him senseless. Ava's knowing grin watching Yelena patch you up on the jet, but when someone else asked her she would bark out: Do it, yourself!
Yelena didn't think she was that obvious. Hell, she should have known she was that obvious. The only one who didn't seem to notice is you. Yelena turned around in exasperation. âWhat is this mission, Alexei?â Alexei guffawed, pumping his fist, happily. âThe Winter Soldier says it is a simple patrolling an abandoned base.â Ah, those were pretty easy. It was usually just checking to make sure nothing was out of shape, so nothing could come back. Perfect, for you and Yelena to be alone.
Yelena grimaced. You were an overly caring person, she always forgets to ask you, how you started working for Val, so long ago. Considering you and Val had completely different personalities. Yelena sighed, âOkay. Give me the briefing.â
ââââ ŕ¨ŕ§ ââââ
Yelena could not help the small grin that phased across her face, watching you bounce happily into the room. Your suit adorned your body, but the one thing different about your suit compared to the others was it was white with hints of yellow. Yelena believed those colors complemented you, perfectly.
You were one of the only ones on the team with powers, like Ava. Your powers were healing based, but one of the downsides was you took the energy from your body to heal someone else's. Yelena felt a prick of panic in her heart, whenever she saw you tirelessly healing people, desperately holding yourself up from falling over. You still always had a smile on your face, though.
âLena!â Yelena tried to keep the light pink that dusted her cheeks, giving you a nod in greeting. You were one of the only people who called her 'Lena.' Including her father who you even got the nickname from, but she didn't have the courage to tell you to stop. She liked it, as much as she hated to admit it.
You jumped to stand next to her, bouncing on the balls of your feet. A grin that rivaled the sun in brightness on your face. âYou excited? We barely get to go on missions,â You breathed in from how fast you were talking. âJust the two of us!â You fiddled, lightly with zipper on your suit, always needing something to mindlessly play with, she noticed.
âYeah..It's supposed to be an easy patrol. Make sure there is no alien stuff, make sure there is no assassin stuff, blah, blah. In and out, you know?â Yelena gives you a subtle smirk, placing her booted feet on the railing; tightening the laces. You punched Yelena's shoulder, affectionately. âEasy for you. You're a badass, Yelena!â Yelena swallowed the bile rising in her throat. Why do you think so highly of her?
Yelena rolled her eyes, slipping her boot off the railing to bend down on one knee in front of your boots. You gasped, softly; heat raising up on your face. Yelena's fingerless gloves grabbed your laces, that were lazily tied in your excitement to come and greet Yelena. Yelena untied them, before tying them with more firm tightness; patting your leg and standing back up.
Yelena grabbed your arm, pulling you along towards the jet. You follow along with a surprised squawk. âAlright, sunshine. Let's get going.â
ââââ ŕ¨ŕ§ ââââ
Your head tilted to the side, looking up at the building. It was pretty minimalistic. An old lab used when Tony Stark and the rest of the Avengers were a thing. The building was splitting apart at the seams. Rubble, dust- You were cut off by a shiver. And freezing, extremely. At least half the building was frozen, you could assume.
A hand slid across your back, you jumping to see Yelena. âPretty grim place, huh?â Yelena offered with a quirk of her lips. You chortled, nodding your head. âYeah. For sure.â Yelena's hand slipped off your back. âLet's find a way in, shall we?â
Searching for a relatively safe way to get into this place was difficult. There were no remotely normal ways to get in with half the doors being obstructed by crumbled pieces of building or frozen shut. Yelena got your attention; You were trying to move a piece of rubble in front of one of the doors. âWe will just have to go through a window.â Yelena muttered, throwing a rock clean through a frozen window. You blinked. That was one way to do it.
Yelena kneeled, helping lift you up into the window. âBe careful,â Yelena stated, worried watching you try to avoid the shards of the broken window from cutting your hands. You successfully lifted yourself up into the window with a small 'yay!' You heard, Yelena's amused huff. You turned back around, removing the shards of the window to the best of your ability.
Once you deemed it safe, you reached your hand down to help Yelena up. Yelena grunted, crawling through the window. âUgh, I hate that.â Yelena whined, standing up to wipe the dust and flurries of snow off her suit. You snorted, faintly. Reaching your hand to wipe the flurries of snow off Yelena's shoulder. Yelena's face abruptly looked up, eyes making immediate contact. You gulped.
Yelena's eyes held an intensity, you couldn't understand. Her eyes were drawn to your lips, watching them intently, as you licked them subconsciously. A wave of heat filled your face. You're pretty sure if someone touched your face, they would flinch away from how hot it was. Her face is leaning, slightly closer to your lips.
You were snapped apart by the sound of loud 'bang!' Yelena yanked away, masterfully pulling her gun out of her holster with a precision only of a Black Widow. Your hand found your holster to pull yours out, as well. Yelena's face was hardened, stalking towards the door. Yelena's eyes found yours; grabbing the handle of the door nodding at you to be prepared to shoot. You nodded with determination, holding your gun steady.
Yelena flung open the door, you were ready, but nothing was there. You gave Yelena a quizzical look. âReckon it could have been the weather?â Yelena popped her lips. âMaybe.â Yelena walked through the doorway, motioning for you to follow after her.
ââââ ŕ¨ŕ§ ââââ
Yelena threw a dusty breaker on the ground. It crashed onto the floor with a loud âcrack!â You are jumping from a place buried in the cabinets. Yelena stuck her thumbs through her belt loops. âLooks like the place is clear. Nothing suspicious, but insanely creepy.â You hummed, removing yourself from the cabinet. âIt hasn't been used in a couple of years and it's out in the middle of nowhere.â Yelena snapped her fingers. âThat's a recipe for ghostly spirits.â You giggled, dusting off your pants from being on the ground.
âDoesn't look like there is anything here, 'Lena.â Yelena mumbled something, walking over to a desk. Yelena started sifting through documents with a frown. âNothing interesting.â Yelena said, throwing the documents back down on the desk. âGuess we can get going, huh?â The snow outside raged on. The trees whistled loudly, in the wind.
âMaybe not...â Yelena laughed, grabbing some of the documents she threw on the desk. âLet's go find a room to wait this out in.â You nodded, following after Yelena.
ââââ ŕ¨ŕ§ ââââ
You yawned, leaning your head up against the metal wall; flinching in the cold. Yelena, who was sitting in front of the makeshift fire she made with the spare documents, branches, and the match she kept in her suit. âAre you cold?â Yelena's soft russian accent filled the silence. âEh..Kind of..â You tucked your knees closer into your body. âCome here.â Yelena held her hand out over the fire.
You blanked. âUh-Sure.â Standing up with shaky legs to sit yourself next to Yelena. âYou can get closer, you know?â Yelena smirked. You pouted, sticking your tongue out, playfully. Yelena chuckled, moving a piece of blond hair out of her face. âI like that you're growing your hair out,â You whispered. âIt's pretty.â
Yelena's face stayed staring at the fire. Yelena swallowed, thickly; her ears turning red. âCan I ask you a question?â You moved your legs closer to hers. âIt depends. Can I ask you a question, after your question?â Yelena eyes flit over to you. âSure.â You gave her a toothy-grin. Yelena gave you a small hesitant smile back.
âHow did you start working for Valentina?â
âI needed money. It wasn't anything, masterful. I'm kind of ashamed, I did it, but if I didn't, I wouldn't have met you.â You grinned affectionately at Yelena. You didn't get a chance to think, before Yelena's lips were smashing against yours. You gasped into her mouth, her gloved hands cradling the sides of your face. Your hands reaching for something to grab, grabbed her shoulders, clutching them like a life-line. Yelena yanked you closer, her hand moving towards your waist.
You pulled back with gasp, heat on your face. Yelena's lips chased after yours, her forehead leaning up against yours. âGod, I've been wanting to do that for so long.â Your hand reached up to cradle the side of her face, Yelena leaning into it with a purr-like sound. âW-Why didn't you tell me?â Yelena grinned, slightly, her lips hovering over yours. âI just did.â Yelena pulled you into another searing kiss.Â

a/n :: a lot of this is just restating my tags from the richie camera roll but i got a request to make a longer post! hope you like :)
â . â you'd just moved to chicago when you got hired at the bear. after studying somewhere abroad as a specialist (saucier, sfoglino, entremetier, etc), you decided to move in with a friend from culinary school in the area + were taking your resume around to restaurants in town when you ran into none other than syd adamu!
â . â you're looking for a job? great! she and her partner are opening a new restaurant in a few weeks! definitely give her your resume and you'll definitely be getting a call in the next few days...
â . â richie first sees you the day you come in to train - it's about a week till open and all the new kitchen staff have come in to familiarize themselves with the layout and the menu. carmy and syd have already hired you by now, and richie's taking it upon himself to get acquainted with all the new staff members now that he's committed to being a maĂŽtre d'.
â . â he walks away from that conversation shaking his head because god, you're gorgeous....and funny? and, wow, really good at your job. you studied in italy? holy shit. how are you moving faster than carmy in his own damn kitchen? and how do you look so good doing it? he needs to take a lap.
â . â and okay....maybe once the bear is finally open, he's obsessively subconsciously trying to be in your line of vision as much as possible. he'd never distract you from your work, of course, but...if you're plating, he's walking your dishes. if you're on the line, he's walking the few extra steps to tell you about substitutions and exclusions personally. whispering snarky comments about carmy or annoying patrons in your ear if there's a momentary lull. being deliberate about including you in his jokes during moments to breathe, or after service, or before service, or pretty much whenever he sees you.
â . â when he asks you out the first time, he's really trying hard to be nonchalant about it. as if he hasn't been smitten with you for weeks, and as if you haven't noticed at all (you have, obviously). he's leading with you ever been to a real chicago bar? or maybe you need someone to acquiant you with the city or something equally as clichĂŠ, but you do him the benefit of feigning surprise and agreeing to let him take you out on your next off day.
â . â he's definitely asking you out on a second date the week after. which doesn't surprise you nearly as much as it surprises him, because richie doesn't do dates. date singular, maybe, but dates, multiple? not anymore. not for a long time. but he blinks and two dates turn into five, and now you're getting breakfast together, and he's bringing your coffee order to work with him, and holy shit he needs to make it official now because if it gets to ten dates he's gonna look like a douche and no way in hell is he fucking this up.
â . â the first time you meet eva is purely by accident. it's a couple months into your relationship, and you haven't failed to notice that whenever you end up at his place, it's conveniently on days where tiff is in charge of eva. at first, you're a bit burned by that, but the more richie tells you about eva and his past relationship the more you realize that wow, he just really loves that girl. and he's freaked out by the idea of her not liking you, or worse, you not liking her, because then he'd probably just have to kill you and swear off women for life.
â . â but a day comes where tiff's got a last-minute emergency and needs to drop eva off at the bear for a few hours before service since she's out of school. she's sure richie will be there when she leaves eva with syd - which he's not, currently off somewhere picking up something carmy asked for. but you are. syd introduces the two of you, and you immediately realize that this is a make-or-break moment. so you do what you know best: food.
â . â and when richie comes back thirty minutes later to find eva sitting on the counter eating a bowl of the ice cream marcus has been workshopping while you show her all the equipment at your station? he's going through 25 emotions at once and ultimately settling on gratitude because eva loves you. he'd already thought the world of you, but now? he'll be damned if he's ever letting this shit go.
â . â after that it's history. you're pretty much at his place 24/7 anyway, and now that eva's comfortable around you? he's bargaining with you just to get you to stay a few hours longer, or go pick eva up from school with him, or be here to surprise her when he brings her home from a friend's house. if only so he can watch you and eva interact while he stands there with the stupidest smile of all time on his face.
â . â family pizza nights? check. late-night ice cream runs? check. you braid eva's hair while he lets her paint his nails. you teach her how to help you in the kitchen so you can surprise richie with dinner after work when your off days don't match up. he's bringing her into work on his days off just so she can say hi to you and you can make her something fun for lunch. it's pretty much everything he's ever dreamed of having for her and for himself, and he won't shut up about you to anyone who will listen.
â . â his girls.

The cry coming from the baby monitor next to your bed split the silence at 2 a.m., dragging both of you out of the little sleep youâd managed to get. Johnny groaned into his pillow like it was the end of the world.
âHe was asleep twenty minutes ago,â he mumbled dramatically, rolling onto his back. âTWENTY.â
You looked at him being all dramatic, like you didn't have enough with the screaming baby just a room down. But the truth is, both of you were losing your minds at this point. Fourth month old baby Liam, had barely slept the whole week. During the day he was a normal, healthy little ball of happiness. But at night was a different story. He just kept fussing and crying until one of you calmed him down. The decision on who it was being totally up to him. Which meant neither of you had gotten any sleep those days.Â
âMaybe heâs having nightmares,â you muttered, getting up to drag yourself down the hall to reach the nursery, in your mismatched socks and yesterdayâs pjs.Â
âOr maybe he just hates us,â Johnny scrubbed his eyes, already jogging ahead of you to try to calm the baby before you even got there.Â
Which clearly didnât work the way he expected. By the time you shuffled into the nursery, Johnny was by the crib, blonde hair sticking up in every direction, trying to cradle the baby in one arm while holding out the bottle he rejected twenty minutes ago in the other.
âBuddy, please,â Johnny begged, rocking him with a frantic bounce. âLook, I even warmed it with my own hands. I should be father of the year! You canât get this anywhere else.â
Liam wailed louder, his stubborn little face scrunching as he shoved the bottle away with surprising strength. Clearly showing him he wasnât the chosen parent tonight.
âOkay never mind! I am garbage!â Johnny exclaimed dramatically, as Liam kept punching his tiny fists into the air.
You stumbled in behind him, half asleep, grabbing the bottle from his hands and reaching out to take the baby with a yawn.
âYouâre not garbage Johnny, quit fussing like him.â
He groaned but surrendered the squirming boy into your arms. The second you held him close and rocked him, he quieted, eyes drooping as he latched onto the bottle like nothing had happened. You smirked sleepily over the top of his tiny head, Johnny looking personally betrayed as he peeked at the boy in your embrace.
âOh, so thatâs how it is? She holds you and suddenly Iâm chopped liver,â he protested, as you bit back a laugh, too tired to fight him. âWhy are you even yelling, little guy? Itâs bedtime! For everyone. That includes you,â he booped his nose, making the baby scrunch.Â
âJohnny,â you chuckled, âlet him have his bottle in peace.âÂ
âAlright alright,â he raised both hands innocently, crouching slightly before leaning closer to Liamâs little face, like he was about to spill a secret. âNo hard feelings, buddy. When she holds me I feel safe too,â he whispered, turning his big blue eyes at you.Â
If you werenât holding a baby you wouldâve jumped on his arms to kiss him all over his face. But you couldnât, so you just settled with looking adoringly at him, all tired and messy hair, but feeling like the prettiest star in the universe under his gaze.
The little moment broke when Liam finished his bottle, latching off. Johnny just took the bottle away, thinking you could finally get some sleep tonight. You thought the same, but frowned when you noticed the babyâs face still scrunched like something wasn't right. You rocked him gently, humming, brushing your thumb over his cheek.
âWhatâs wrong, sweetheart?â you whispered, grabbing his tiny hand to soothe him.
At first, it was just warm. Normal warm for him. Youâd noticed he always ran hotter than Franklin, but never in a concerning way. At least Reed had said so when youâd brought it up to him. But as you held his tiny fingers in yours, it suddenly got too warm.
âJohnny heâs burning upââ You squealed before you could finish, jerking slightly as a small flame flared between his fingers. It wasnât big enough to hurt, just enough to sting your fingertips and send your heart racing. âOh my god!â
Johnnyâs eyes went huge at the sudden flicker of light in the room, and in an instant, he was at your side again.
âWoah, woah, woah!â he blurted, hands quickly wrapping around the babyâs little fist, absorbing the flames before they could catch. The spark died out into his palms, while you looked at each other in shock.
Oh my god. Oh my god. Your baby had fire powers. An actual baby with fire powers.Â
But before you could spiral any further, Liam, who got startled by his own little flame, broke into a loud cry. He looked frightened, kicking in your arms.
âOh no, no, no,â Johnny panicked, looking between you like he wanted to hold both of you at once. âItâs okay, buddy, itâs okay ⌠shh âŚoh my godââ He turned to you, frantic. âDid he hurt you? Let me see your hand!â
âNo, no Iâm fine!â you said wide eyed, still processing, holding him tightly even if he kept squirming in your arms. âIt justâit shocked me. Johnny, he ⌠heâsââ
âHeâs like me,â Johnny whispered, as his hands hovered protectively over him. âHe actually isâoh my god,â he hesitated, like he couldn't decide to be proud or freak out.
Another cry ripped from the babyâs chest, and Johnny immediately softened, taking him from your arms.
âHey, hey, little torch, donât be scared âŚI got you. You didnât do anything wrong,â Johnny whispered into his hair, holding the tiny bundle against his bare chest, then pressed a kiss to his head, bouncing him gently. âFireâs our thing, remember? Just means youâre special. Just like me.â
You swallowed hard, fingers still stinging, watching as the babyâs cries slowed to steadier breaths, instantly soothed by Johnnyâs steady warmth.
âLook how the tables have turned,â you said softly, swooning at the image of Liam now melting into Johnnyâs embrace instead of yours. âHe really is just like you, huh?â
âYeah âŚgod help us,â Johnny sighed, voice breaking into a teary laugh you joined in.
Johnny held him carefully, like the little boy was made of glass, even though heâd just proved he wasnât. His tiny hand was still curled in Johnnyâs much bigger one, safe now, no fire left, just the shared warmth between two human torches.Â
âOh my god,â Johnny whispered, voice hesitant as he stared at the little hand. âWe ⌠we made a fire baby.â
You let out a nervous laugh, still buzzing, leaning against Johnnyâs shoulder. As much as you were his safe place, he was yours too.Â
âWe actually did,â you sighed, eyes checking on Liam like we would flame on again anytime now.
âHeâs gonna be okay,â Johnny reassured, even if he wasn't entirely sure either. âHeâs perfect. Youâre so perfect,â he whispered the last words to the child in his arms. His glassy blue eyes caught the moonlight as he pressed his cheek against the babyâs soft hair. âI promise you, little man, everythingâs gonna be fine. Daddy knows what this feels like, and Iâll be right here. Always. Youâll never have to figure this out alone.â
You swallowed the lump in your throat, brushing your fingers over your babyâs back. Silence finally fell in the room, heavy, like you knew this marked a before and after in your lives. But to be honest, anything since you met Johnny Storm was like that. And the latter, always impossibly him, couldnât help himself to break the tension with a joke.
âReedâs tests suck,â he sneered playfully, trying to shake the nerves away. âHe never caught anything on Franklin or Liam. I say we should start questioning his ways after this.â
You lifted your head from his shoulder to look at him with your mouth wide open, eyes still teary, but when you caught the proud smirk on his face that dared you to defend Reed in front of him, you couldn't help but laugh, almost startling the Liam awake. You both covered your mouths to laugh, but he still whimpered softly, little face puffy from crying, and Johnny immediately bent to kiss his forehead, rocking him gently, until he relaxed again in his arms.Â
You decided to bring Liam to your room so he could feel safer there. Johnny was flat on his back in bed, with the baby boy curled on his chest. The little guyâs cheek pressed against the steady rise and fall of his dadâs breathing. You turned on your side, watching them, your heart aching with love and worry. You reached out, brushing your sonâs hair, but Johnny caught your wrist gently.
âI donât thinkââ he hesitated, eyes flicking down to the sleeping baby on his chest. âMaybe you shouldn't yet, babe. What if he does it again? He⌠he could burn you.â
âHe wouldnât,â you whispered, frowning. âJohnny, heâs just a baby.â
Johnnyâs jaw tightened, his free hand cradling the tiny back protectively.Â
âYeah, but heâs a fire baby. I know what this feels like,â his voice cracked a little, guilt in his words from having to keep you from your own son but it was for your safety ⌠at least for now, he hoped. âI donât ever want you to get hurt because of me âŚor him.â
It took everything in you to not reach again. You sighed, blinking away the sting in your eyes, laying flat on your back to stare at the high ceiling.
Johnny glanced at you, wanting to joke, to say anything just to see you smile, but this time nothing came. Instead, a more serious version of him you rarely saw came out.Â
âYeah,â he admitted quietly. âWe canât just⌠treat this like nothing. We canât leave him alone near Franklin, or with anyone who doesnât know what he can do.â
âGod, Johnny,â you covered your eyes with your hands. âWhat if ⌠what if he never gets to have a normal childhood? What if he always feels different, or scared, orâŚâ Your voice trembled. âI donât want him to grow up like that.â
Johnnyâs lips parted, and for a second he stared at you, then down at the tiny boy sleeping on his chest. Slowly, he reached over with his free hand, tangling his fingers with yours to keep you grounded and uncover your face.
âListen to me,â he said softly, but with steady reassurance in his voice. âHeâs never gonna be alone in this, not for one second. Because he has us. And even if I don't know how, I swear to you, weâre gonna figure it out together. As a family ⌠me, you, Sue, Ben, Herbert, even Franklin-â
âAnd Reed,â you scolded, knowing he let him out purposely.Â
âYeah,â he rolled his eyes playfully, then flashed you one of his cheeky smiles. âEspecially Reed.â
You sniffled, and nodded, squeezing his hand, believing for one moment everything would be okay.Â
Well, not everything was okay.
It had been four days since the baby made flames for the first time, and Johnny had not stopped talking. Every chance he got, whether it was pacing the living room in the morning, family dinner, or randomly going to Ben just to ramble about how obviously his son was cooler than any baby in existence.Â
âI mean, yeah, Franklin can literally bring people back to life,â Johnny admitted one afternoon, holding Liam to his side, âbut does he light up in mini flames every time he gets fussy? I donât think so...â
âJohnnyâŚâ Sue scolded, without looking up from the book she was reading to baby Franklin.
âJust kidding!âÂ
He was not.
And while Johnny was busy performing his pride to the world, heâd also made a new rule on his own.No one. No. One. Was allowed to hold his baby except him. Not even you. Especially not you. Every time you reached out for him, Johnnyâs arms would tighten like a reflex.Â
âHeâs torch jr,â heâd say, trying to keep his tone playful but his eyes were wide and nervous. âHe could flare up completely any second⌠I canât risk that.â
The problem was Liam did not agree with this rule. At all.
By day two, he was fussy. By day three, he was frustrated. And by day four, your sweet boy had reached the point of furious, little flames crackling from his hands almost constantly. Each time, Johnny absorbed them instantly, hands glowing faintly as he held him close, whispering reassurances while his own nerves betrayed him.
You watched from the sidelines, heart aching, as your baby grew more unsettled. It wasnât just crying anymore, it was something desperate now. He needed you too, and he didnât understand why his father was the only one allowed to soothe him.
You tried to convince him to let you hold him, even tried to joke how he also gets fussy when he canât have you. But he just chuckled at the joke, and tried to fill the silence with his theatrics.
âHeâs fine, babe. Heâs fine! Look at him ⌠heâs gonna be the kid everyone looks at and says, âwow, Storm genes really donât miss.ââ heâd say proudly, but his grin would flicker, just for a second, before taking him away from you.Â
But at night, when Liam finally fell asleep draped across Johnnyâs chest, youâd catch him staring at your son with worry in his eyes. He never said it out loud, but you knew he was thinking the same thing you were. A fire baby meant a fire childhood. With the risk of burning everything outside the fireproof building you lived in.
A life that might never feel ânormal.â
On night three you found Johnny sitting in the rocking chair, barefoot to the carpet, shirtless, with a light blue blanket thrown over his lap. Baby Liam was curled up on his chest, in nothing but a diaper, his tiny ear pressed over Johnnyâs heartbeat, almost giving in to sleep after fussing for two hours straight. Johnnyâs hand moved slowly up and down his back, breathing in sync with the gentle rise and fall of his babyâs belly.Â
âOnce upon a time, there was a little space baby who crash landed on Earth in a flaming ball.â Johnny whispered, not noticing you were outside the room, âHis mom was the strongest person in the galaxy, so gorgeous that even the stars were jealous.â
You smiled from your spot on the hallway, as he pressed a kiss to Liamâs forehead.
âHis dad was... well, kinda dumb sometimes,â he chuckled. âBut he loved her so much that he always had to protect her. No matter how scared he was. No matter how much it hurt him to see her upset about it.â
You bit your lip, swallowing the lump forming in your throat. The baby shifted, lifting his little head to blink up at his father, who looked at him adoringly.Â
âThey built a tiny planet called home ⌠and every night, the little space baby would fall asleep on his dadâs chest, even if he missed his mom ⌠because he knew he was safe,â he continued, telling the story more to himself now. âThey eventually figured out how to let mom hold him again, and lived happy ever after ⌠The end. Gotta wrap this up before your dad starts crying too, kid,â he laughed.Â
Liam finally drifted off again, his little hands spread over Johnnyâs chest like he truly believed he was safe. Johnny looked down at him, completely undone.Â
âYouâre not even gonna remember this, huh?â he whispered, softly rocking on the chair. âThatâs okay. Itâs better that way âŚI donât want you to remember the fear. Not yours, not mommyâs, not mine ⌠youâre our little flame, and I promise Iâm never gonna let you be afraid of who you are.â
You wiped your own tears as you caught his watery smile, the proudest, happiest, most terrified smile youâd ever seen. And you believed every word he said.Â
On the fifth day, everyone was in the lab. Reed had brought you in for a check on Liam. Sue held Franklin perched on her hip, close to Reed who was working on something he kept hidden to everyone else, occasionally throwing glances at his son. Liam sat on the examination table, making funny noises as Ben made faces at him from his spot. Every so often, a tiny flame popped from his fists, and heâd giggle at himself, kicking his tiny legs when you gasped playfully at him. Herbert hovered nearby, making silly noises that only made the baby squeal louder.
Johnny had decided to dress him up today. So your baby was rocking a light denim overall, with a striped baby blue shirt inside, and the cutest, tiniest, backwards cap Johnny insisted Liam wore even if he tried to take it off every ten minutes.
âLook at him, babe.â Johnny stood with one arm braced across his sonâs tiny back, grinning down like the proudest man alive. âAlready running the show!â
You leaned against the counter, smiling softly at the scene. For the first time in days, your heart wasnât clenched with worry. Just watching Liam laugh around his family, watching Johnny beam down at him in the little outfit he chose.
Reed finally turned around from the counter, and cleared his throat, walking to the table with something small in his hand.Â
âI, uh⌠Iâve been working on something for him,â he announced, holding something small in his hands, to which Johnny immediately straightened.Â
âYouâre not strapping my kid into a science experiment,â he barked, stepping in front of the kid as if Reed was holding a dangerous device.
Reed raised one brow, and asked calmly.
âWould you let me finish?â
You bit back a laugh as Johnny muttered under his breath, narrowing his eyes at Reed before stepping aside, but didnât move his protective arm away from the boy. Reed cleared his throat again, before looking at you.Â
âI noticed how worried youâve been. And I understand how unsettling it is to not know what to do with the powers they hold. Sometimes it feels like the fears outweigh the good moments⌠God knows weâve had our fair share of those.â His eyes flicked to Sue and his son for a second, softening, then landing back on Johnny. âBut it took me a long time to accept it was okay to feel ⌠terrified. Even when you still canât say it out loud.â
He said it carefully, not accusatory, but his eyes were focused on Johnny. The blondeâs cheeks went inevitably pink, but for the first time, he didnât argue. You nodded at Reed with a soft smile, reaching to wrap your hand with Johnnyâs, giving it a gentle squeeze.Â
Reed held up a small white band in front of you, like a very sleek tech bracelet, with a rounded design that made it almost cute.
âThis is a dampener. His very own version of an inhibitor. When he wears it, it will suppress his fire manifestations until heâs older and Johnny can teach him how to control it. So no more flames, no accidental burns.â He paused, looking at you. âJust a chance to be a baby. Nothing more, nothing less.â
The silence that followed was heavy, but not in a bad way. More in âI have the best family in the worldâ type of way. You pressed a hand over your mouth, tears already stinging your eyes. Johnny didn't fall behind, his lip quivered into the softest smile, almost overwhelmed.Â
âReed you ⌠you made him a little watch?â he asked, barely containing his excitement, glancing at the bigger watch on his own wrist.
It wasnât really a watch, but he would give this to him.
âYes. A little watch,â Reed nodded, a soft smile inevitably on his face.
Sue wiped her own tears, and Ben pretended he wasn't by making faces to Franklin. Johnny turned back to Liam, crouching down to show him the tiny band. His voice dropped into that silly, tender tone only reserved for his son.Â
âLook at this, buddy. Your first fantastic accessory! straight from uncle Reed.â
Liam blinked at it, letting out a happy squeal even though he had absolutely no idea what on earth was going on, the little sparks coming out his hands immediately absorbed by Johnnyâs hand as he placed the band on him.
And just like that, no more flames, no more sparks, leaving only your sonâs sweet giggles echoing in the lab. Johnny laughed through tears, kissing the top of his boyâs head.Â
âSee that? Thatâs yours! Not because youâre scary, but because you deserve to just be a baby. And when youâre ready, me and mom are gonna teach you everything.â
You wiped your cheeks, stepping closer to press your hand over Johnnyâs as he secured one more time the band gently around Liamâs tiny wrist. Johnny leaned his forehead against yours, both of you teary, both of you smiling down at the baby. Your fire baby. Safe. Surrounded by people that will always remind him he was loved beyond the universe.
Johnny pulled apart for a second, sniffled loudly, failing to wipe his face without anyone noticing. You laughed softly, squeezing his hand, while Reed pretended to be completely engrossed in adjusting some notes. Except now he couldnât stop reaching to grab his own sonâs hand.
Like he just got reminded of how crazy this whole journey had been for the family.
âWaitâhold onâŚâ Johnny stood up from his crouching position, suddenly pointing accusingly at Reed. âYou made him a cute little inhibitor, but you never made me one? Whatâs that about?â
âOh, this is getting good,â Ben chuckled, leaning against the counter with his arms crossed. âYeah, whatâs that about, Reed?â he asked with mock interest.Â
Reed finally looked away from his son, going back to his resting annoyed face he reserved only for Johnny.Â
âFirst of all, you were not a baby. Even if you acted like one.â
Sue snorted, covering her mouth. You did too, but pretended to be serious when Johnny snapped his dramatic head at you.Â
âSecond,â Reed continued, âwhen you first manifested your powers, my understanding of cosmic radiation was limited. We didnât know enough about the cosmic signatures to design a suppression device without risking permanent damage to your physiology. It simply wasnât possible then,â he explained, then gestured at Liam. âNow, with years of data and research Iâve conducted on your own powers, I am able to give your son something safe and effective.â
Johnny blinked at him, processing, then turned back to Liam with a dramatic sigh.Â
âHear that, buddy? uncle Reed let me burn down half a block when I was your age, but you get the fancy stuff."
âYou mean when you were twenty?â Ben snorted.
âYeah yeah, whatever.â Johnny ignored him, grabbing his baby and taking your hand to get out of the lab before he got roasted any further. âThank you Reed, love you! never saying that again.â
Now his baby, and you, the most important parts of his whole universe were safe now. Nothing else mattered.
And when the time comes, Johnny will be super gentle when teaching his little boy. He knows how scary fire can feel at first, so heâd cradle the babyâs little hands in his and show him thereâs nothing to be afraid of. That he was special, just like dad.
His mini super hero. His little baby torch.

â John doesnât want you to see just how much he loves you. Saying would make it real. If itâs not real, he canât ruin it. So, he keeps you at a distance. And he makes sure that no one knows about your relationship other than you and him.
â He keeps his distance in public, but in private, he canât keep his hands off you. John has big hands and he knows exactly how to use them. Whether thatâs gripping your thighs as he makes you squirm with his tongue or holding your waist as you make out.
â John is desperate to make you laugh. But it never happens in the way he intends. You always end up laughing at him instead of with him. In your defense, he canât crack a joke thatâs funny to anyone other than him. After a while, he doesnât mind that youâre laughing at him as long as he gets to hear the sound of your laugh.
â You donât hear as much about his time in the military as you thought you would. Itâs obvious that he isnât proud of the things he did in the name of his country. Sometimes heâll mention things that happened on base with Lemar or something he tried when he was stationed in an unfamiliar country but he never brings up the reason why he was there.
â But, you do hear about sports. Constantly. Whether youâre interested or not. His favorite sport is obviously football. John doesnât just keep up with the NFL, he keeps up with college football too. If he misses a game, youâre guaranteed to catch him looking up the score and highlights on his phone. His favorite stories to tell are about his days playing high school and college football. John was a varsity player and he never lets anyone forget it.
â John loves cooking and baking for you. Itâs always been the way he calms himself. He can focus his mind on a recipe and get away from all the other thoughts that wonât stop hounding him. You werenât expecting him to be as good at it as he is. Heâs the best at making classic Southern dishes. Theyâre what he grew up eating and helping his family make on special occasions.
â When you tease him about caring about you, he laughs it off and denies it. You both know he does, but neither of you will really say it. At first, bothered you that he wouldnât let you in. That he wouldnât say, âI love youâ. As time has gone on, youâve learned that heâs better at showing it. You prefer it that way now. Johnâs not the best with words. He finds himself saying the wrong thing or not really thinking things through before he speaks. Heâs learned how to show what he canât say through what he does. Every choice he makes is an attempt to do the right thing, to be the best man he can be for you. Maybe, one day heâll be the man he thinks you deserve.

A/N: I didn't expect to love writing for John as much as I do! I have so many ideas for him already so let me know if you want me to write more about him.

A/N: This was requested when i was celebrating my 2K Party Bash this week! I know I'm posting a lot today, but I don't care <3 Trying to ignore my actual responsibilities today.
You werenât supposed to be trying anything on. That was made extremely clear when Pepper invited you, Natasha, and Wanda to help her narrow down her wedding dress options. It was a girls-only kind of dayâchampagne, way too many boutique consultants with clipboards, and racks of white lace and silk that cost more than your rent.
âYouâre just here for moral support,â Pepper had said brightly. âNo pressure, just vibes.â
And that was the plan. You were content sipping something bubbly and pretending not to touch things labelled âcouture.â But thenâ
Then Nat had dared you.
âTry one on,â she said, smirking behind the rim of her glass. âCâmon. Live a little.â
âYouâre terrible,â you hissed.
âI know. Now pick the sparkliest one and put it on, you menace.â
You tried to resist. You really did.
But twenty minutes later, you found yourself in front of a full-length mirror in a back dressing room, laced into something soft ivory with a fitted bodice, a slightly off-the-shoulder neckline, and a gentle tulle train that caught the light when you turned. It hugged your curves in all the right places.
And youâannoyinglyâlooked stunning.
âOh no,â Wanda whispered from behind you.
âOh no,â Natasha echoed.
You blinked. âWhat?â
Pepper leaned in from the hallway and gasped. âOh my God. Youâre done for. If Bucky sees you in that, heâs going toââ
A sharp ding from the boutiqueâs front door cut her off.
You all froze.
ââŚWas that theââ
âLadies?â came a very familiar voice.
âShit,â Natasha hissed, shoving a hanger at you. âBuckyâs here.â
âWhy the hell is Bucky here?!â
"Who told him we'd be here?"
Pepper groaned. âI texted him to swing by to help pick up a gift bag I left in the car, but I didnât think heâd come inâ!â
Too late.
Buckyâs boots clunked across the polished boutique floor, his voice drawing closer as he called out, âHey, Nat, you said it was in the trunkâwait, babe? You back here?â
Before you could even shout a warning, the curtain whipped open.
Bucky stopped cold.
His mouth dropped open.
You froze, wide-eyed, one heel half off, veil slipping sideways on your head like a drunk ghost. âI swear this isnât what it looks likeââ
But Bucky didnât move.
Didnât blink.
Didnât breathe.
His gaze raked over you slowly, almost reverentlyâlike he wasnât entirely sure you were real.
âThat one,â he said hoarsely.
You blinked. âWhat?â
His eyes stayed glued to you. âThat one. Thatâs it. Thatâs the dress.â
âBucky, Iââ you stammered. âWeâre not even engaged, I was justââ
âWe are now.â His voice cracked with something fierce and unshakable. âIâm not even joking. Iâm gonna find a priest. A rabbi. Tony. Someone. Youâre not taking that thing off until someone pronounces us married.â
âI am calm,â he snapped, but his tone betrayed himâunhinged, elated, utterly overwhelmed. He stepped closer, eyes glazed and worshipful. âYouâlook at you. How the hell am I supposed to function knowing what you look like in that thing?â
You felt your heart trip over itself. âBuckyââ
âNo, no. Donât talk me out of it.â His hand curled gently around your waist, pulling you close. âWeâre doing this. Iâm putting a ring on your finger, youâre keeping this dress, and Iâm legally binding myself to you before someone else sees you in it and I have to commit a crime.â
You laughed, cheeks flushing. âThis is insane. We were just dating.â
âNot anymore,â he murmured, brushing your hair back. âNow Iâm yours. All the way.â
Your fingers curled in the lapel of his jacket.
âYouâre serious?â you whispered.
âIâve never been more serious in my life.â
And just like that, Natasha was pulling out her phone to find a courthouse, Pepper was tearing up, and BuckyâBucky looked like heâd just been handed the moon.
You shouldâve laughed it off. Shouldâve told him he was being dramatic, ridiculous, Bucky, with his hair a mess and his hoodie half-zipped like heâd run here straight from a mission. But you couldnât move. Couldnât breathe. Not when he was looking at you like that.
Like you were the only living thing in a dead galaxy.
âBucky,â you breathed, eyes darting to the othersâPepper discreetly dabbing at her eyes, Wanda beaming like she already knew this was written in the stars, and Natasha grinning like she knew her dare would end like this.
âI mean it,â he said, quieter now. âYou think I didnât know? The second I saw youâreally saw youâI knew. This was always gonna be it for me.â
His hand slid to your jaw, thumb brushing your cheek. âYou wearing that dress just made it impossible to pretend I could wait anymore.â
Your throat tightened. âBut we never talked aboutâmarriage. Or even living together.â
âI donât care where we live,â he murmured, forehead pressing to yours. âIâll sleep in your damn bathtub if I have to. I just want you. Waking up next to you. Coming home to you. Tying myself to you in every way I can.â
You could feel your pulse fluttering under your skin like a moth trapped in your ribcage. You wanted to say something smart, something grounded, something that might cool the fire in his eyesâ
But instead you whispered, âOkay.â
He blinked. âYeah?â
You nodded slowly. âYeah.â
And thenâchaos.
Pepper shrieked. Wanda clapped. Natasha screamed, âCALLED IT,â and ran to grab a bottle of champagne off the nearest table. And BuckyâBucky kissed you like you were oxygen and his lungs had gone dry.
âWaitââ you pulled back just a little, blinking. âAre we actually getting married today?â
âYes,â Bucky and Natasha said at the same time.
âNo,â Pepper said, already on the phone with someone. âYou are not getting married without hair and makeup. I know a team.â
âIâll get Tony to open the tower chapel,â Wanda said, typing furiously. âHe owes me for that Sokovian dessert wine I smuggled back for him.â
âWait, chapelâ?â you blinked. âTony has aânever mind, of course he does.â
âDress is already picked,â Natasha smirked. âNow all we need is a ring.â
Bucky grinned, eyes never leaving yours. âAlready got one.â
You blinked. âYou what?â
He fished in his jacket pocketâbecause of course he had it on himâand pulled out a small velvet box, sheepish and smug all at once.
âI was gonna wait,â he muttered. âTill your birthday. Or Valentineâs Day. Or a meteor shower. Some dumb romantic crap. But clearly the universe decided today was the day.â
He opened it. Simple. Elegant. Yours. A platinum band, thin and glinting like starlight, set with a single dark sapphireâmidnight blue, stormy and fierce, just like him.
Your hands trembled when he slid it onto your finger. It fit perfectly. You couldnât stop staring at it. You couldnât stop smiling. âHoly shit,â you whispered.
âI know,â he said, resting his forehead against yours again. âYouâre stuck with me now, sweetheart.â
âGod help me,â you murmured, and kissed him.
----
You werenât even sure how it all happened so fast. One minute you were being dragged into a makeup chair, the next you were in a penthouse rooftop chapel lit with candles, Tony officiating in a suit and sunglasses, Steve giving Bucky his tie because his was wrinkled, and Bruce holding up someoneâs dog as a makeshift ring bearer.
You and Bucky barely heard the words. You were too busy smiling. Laughing. Crying. Gripping each otherâs hands like lifelines.
And when he kissed you againâreally kissed you, as husband and wifeâthe rest of the world fell away. Just you. Just him. The dress. The dare. The forever. All of it. Yours.
