I’ve met a lot of amazing people because of it, so I’m really grateful to RoyalVoices for taking me on as a writer. Since then I’ve done a lot more than just writing as well, such as help managing the Tumblr page for example. XD”

Lady Maddy (Director): “they make them because I force them to at gunpoint”Prince Jordan: “Yes LMAOOOOONonono but for real, I do this for fun! I’ve never really thought about putting some of these in a reel though. Now that you’ve brought it up I might as well! So thank you! In terms of what I most enjoy though… I’d have to say acting though different scenarios, diving into areas I never really thought I’d go to! That and the amount of creativity that goes into each and every one of these scripts. And most importantly: Making sure you all stay happy and know that each of you are loved <3 One smile can make a difference.”

Prince Kenji: “I voice act for our channel because I legitimately enjoy the work and the amazing scripts that our writers make for us. Plus, I haven’t really been making my own content or auditioning for all that many projects, so the work keeps me from going on a total hiatus from doing what I love and going insane. I’m not really sure if people put xListener videos in their portfolios, but if they do, I’m definitely gonna do that, haha. About the scripts, I love the creativity and care put into them, how they give our acting abilities the chance to shine, and the immense potential they have to give our listeners an enjoyable experience. Prince Riku: “If I’m being 100% honest, I make the audios and scripts that I do because I want people to be happy. In every possible way, I’m hoping whatever I put out: people enjoy, even if they just laugh at me, or call me cringe, or whatever, if they’re happier, then I succeeded. I think Freddy Mercury (in the film Bohemian Rhapsody) said it best for me when he says something to the degree of  "I’m a performer. I’m not just gonna give the people what the want; I’m gonna give them what they need.”.(Layman’s terms: If I can brighten someone’s day in even the slightest incremental way, then I’ve succeeded in my goal. THAT is why I make/do the stuff I do for Royal Voices.)As far as what I enjoy most with the scripts…….it’s kind of a large variety of things.I enjoy seeing the hard work our writers put into them. I enjoy hearing our writers/cohorts perk up at how we’re reading their scripts, how we’re sorta bringing them to life. I enjoy reading these stories of these sometimes adorkable, sometimes oppressive characters. I enjoy the vocal training the scripts give me with the plethora of characters we have written up. I could honestly go on and on, but I guess, in the simplest terms: I just enjoy the scripts for what they are, what they do, and what they signify.EDIT: I forgot to mention I don’t do RoVo for resume accreditation. (It’s never really crossed my mind to actually do that.)“

Prince Zach: "I like to voice act. Plain and simple. Royal Voices keeps me busy while allowing me to experiment with character archetypes I otherwise might not get the chance to play. It also keeps me active socially to a degree; something I I need every now and again.”

Prince Henry: “I’m not gonna deny that the thoughts of, “ok, I gotta make this good because someone in the professional world might watch/listen to this one day” definitely come through my head when voice acting or writing. But I think the bigger reason I do it is because I just really enjoy it! And I just want to have a professional career in something I really enjoy someday. ^3^(Plus it’s very hard to become involved in an independent voice acting project these days that has lasted this long and has gained this much of a following. Most projects you audition for online are either very hard to get into, never get off the ground, or only ever put out like one episode of content before crashing and burning. I’m very happy to be a part of something that has been this consistent and endearing to people.) :-3”

Prince Chris: “I haven’t eaten in days, overlord Maddy won’t let me see my family until I work off my blood debt.”

Prince Marck: “I honestly love making these audios because I genuinely enjoy being able to play a character that brings deeper emotions out of me that I typically don’t know how to deal with. The personas I become when I act out these scripts are like pieces of me that I get to become for a few minutes, and if that can bring joy to a single person who’s looking for an escape from their reality, even for a moment, then the time and effort spent into making the audio will have been worth it. Although I personally am not trying to become a professional voice actor or voiceover artist by any means, the ability to say that I have done work within this realm of the entertainment industry is always an interesting portfolio piece for me, as well as having fun with everything along the way!”

You’re an audio engineer sitting in on one of the recording sessions with the ADR director and VA. Unfortunately for the voice actor in the recording booth, the ADR director has a different interpretation on the script. The VA and the director just can’t agree and you end up the (fortunate?) victim of determining who did the romance better when they test out their theories on you.

You’re going on the vacation of a lifetime — Two weeks in Japan! If you’re the one going then why is your boyfriend more excited than you are about it? After you told him your plans, he doesn’t hesitate to give you some suggestions based on his experiences. You end up daydreaming a little about potential experiences as described by your boyfriend.

Question 1:

Prince Marck: “I totally understand where you’re coming from. As a classically trained musician myself, it was hard to drop my reeds and mouthpieces for an instrument that resides within my own body. If you really want to get started on voice acting, I’d say use your vocal and lung strength to your advantage! You have the capability to stretch your vocal range due to the practices that take place with various breathing and body stability techniques that you learn throughout your time as a musician - woodwinds, strings and brass alike. Personally, I started voice acting with friends for fun! I picked a character that I really liked or one that somebody told me that I happened to sound similar to and ran with it from there. You eventually learn the various kinks in your voice - range, pronunciation, accents, even low grumbling and high falsetto techniques! Developing into the characters that you eventually want to sound like helps too - for example, I typically have a mid-high voice range, but with practice I was able to open myself up to low-mid roles. It’s all about how you practice your craft and the kind of voice acting you’re interested in. The best part? You don’t need a fancy mic to get started. Phones have some of the best microphones nowadays, and with the right environment, your recordings can sound much like people who have very mid-tier mics (a.k.a.  headsets or “beginner” desktop mics). Hopefully that helps! And the best of luck to you on your voice acting journey!“

Prince Kenji: "Marck’s answer is really good! My advice will be for the more professional-ish side rather than the hobby side of VA-ing. I’ve seen a couple of experienced online voice actors recommend a series of videos to newcomers, called "How to be an Online Voice Actor” by SBN3 on Youtube. It’s a little tongue-in-cheek but it gives you a good idea of what goes into recording and acting. I also recommend JelloApocalypse’s podcast series, “Tip of the Tongue,” which has great advice about auditions, demo reels, developing a voice, and networking. He also has guests on his show who talk about podcasting, too. Good luck, and I hope you have fun!”

Prince Chris: “step one: meet zachstep two: gargle battery acidstep three: profitno i would just recommend joining online groups and meeting likeminded people to help develop your skills, honestly you learn lots by simply doing and creating a good base.definitely listen as well, you never know what aspects of other people’s performances and projects you might want to incorporate”

Prince Riku: “Biggest tip I can say when it comes to radio/voice over/podcasting: Do not be afraid to sound stupid. Like if you’re doing a crazy character for any reason, and you can look back on it without any sense of shame or embarrassment, you’re doing it wrong. (Aside from that, just take notes from anime for reaction noises, try to sound human and not like a robot playing a character*, and you’ll be alright!)*watch ADR dubbing scenes for help on that bit”

Prince Zach:“Prince Zach’s Comprehensive Guide for Voice Acting1. Your mic is your best friend. Get yourself a solid mic a good starter would be a Blue Yeti USB fed microphone if you’re feeling frugal. It ain’t as good as an XLR but, it’s hardy enough for professional usage given the right environment.2. Drink a f*ck ton of water. The golden rule is to drink water consistently at least 2 hours before recording and to sip a few bottles while recording. Room-temp is best as cold water is a bad as soda.3. Do your vocal exercises. This will keep your voices from cramping and help your speak more clearly. Also don’t record while sick as it’ll strain your voice.4. Network! Talk to other actors, get involved in communities and audition for everything that fits your voice type.5. Find your base range! Base range is hard to find but, it’s detrimental to maximizing your voice’s best range. A lot of guys will generally artificially lower their voices which will damage your talky bits and a lot of girls will try to artificially heighten their voices and they will try to use those artificial highs and lows as their base range and it just won’t work. So, just try to find a a mid-point to start off with that won’t strain your voice.6. Learn to yell. Voice acting is an art form and just like any form of art half-@ssing it won’t work. So practice projecting your voice and and learn how to use inflection with your screaming so don’t wimp out and whisper scream. Just learn to say "f*ck it” and go for your audience’s throats.“

Prince Chris: “I wasn’t there for it, sure but I’ll have to ask my mom first, a number has not yet been invented to accurately describe the amount of times I have to re-record lines”

Prince Zach: “Maddy could answer this better but, it was originally supposed to be Marck I believe. My friendship can be bought with head pats and food.I do all my stuff in one take usually because I procrastinate real hard.”

Prince Henry: “I can’t remember how it started exactly tbh, I think Maddy just pitched the idea and I was in! :blush:We all stay friends via the powerful bond of tiktok memesI usually do all my lines in one take, which is a bit different since I’m used to recording alternate takes for all my lines. But reading it once all the way through makes the acting experience a bit more immersive so that’s kewllAnd OFC U CAN B MY FREN HERE I MADE U MUFFINS”

Prince Marck: “So RoyalVoices actually started after a night of improv in my server. We had just finished a pretty intense improv session with Phil, myself, Ali and a few others who were quite active during the beginning of summer, when everyone was finishing up their classes and had more free time on their hands. A few of us in the Discord call that night started talking about ASMR, and how interesting it would be if we were to start doing ASMR on our respective channels. I, of course, cringed harder than I’d ever done in the past, but was entertained by the idea for whatever reason. Ali and I had done yandere-esque improv scripts the week prior, so she suggested to Maddy that they make ASMR scripts for me to read as a meme. I jokingly said in my Todoroki voice, which just so happens to be ASMR-esque for pure reasons of volume control being very unstable at how I use my voice, something along the lines of, “Ali, you would make me read ASMR?” I genuinely don’t remember what was said in that moment, but after that it turned into this who charade of memes for met to read ASMR scripts with plans and ideas, collaborations, etc. It expanded after Maddy had the idea to then bring in other fellow voice actors and call us “princes” outside the scripts that they had written. After that, well the rest is history; our first audio premiered with Prince Jordan and Strawberry Lemonade, we received a huge reaction from that video and Phil’s following shortly after, and now we’re here.“

Prince Riku: "It all started because Royal Leader Maddy decided “I have voice actors…..let’s use ‘em.”I’d love to be friends! Friends are the best (when they don’t stab you and twist the blade because you didn’t surrender your first ever and only ever box of cookie crisp.)For me, It takes a couple runs. Like I’ll read through it a couple times and still fudge my enunciation of something. Most tries I’ve ever had at a script’s line was 17, because it was fast and furiously syllable riddled.”

Lady Maddy (Director): “All of these explanations are acceptable.”

Prince Kenji: “The REAL question is, are you HARDCORE ENOUGH to call yourself my compatriot? ... Just kidding, it doesn't take much to be my friend ^^ As for takes, I'm super specific about how I want my lines to sound, so if I'm recording and I make an error or extraneous sound that isn't delete-able, I do another take until it's perfect. Multiply that by how many variations of a line I want to do, and I end up with FORTY MINUTES of raw audio for my video next season... I crave only destruction qwq“
