Rowdy Space Children

Brian would have much rather awoken peacefully and naturally that day, but instead he was forced awake by the blaring sirens of 80-8’s ship. He joked often that 80 had abducted him, but it had been his decision to go back to space with him after 80-8 healed from his crash landing to Earth. Brian reaches to open the door, but before he can grip the handle, the door is flung out of his reach and exposes 80-8 on the other side. He clicks something, but it’s a language that Brian has never been able to understand, and grabs Brian’s hand and dashes down the hall with him. 80-8’s shoving an oxygen mask into his hands and hastily pulling one onto his face. There’s a large meteor lodged into the side of the ship and it’s slowly hurtling towards a dark, scary looking planet. 80-8 reaches over and grasps onto his arm, and clenches his eyes shut. It is then painfully aware to Brian that there’s nothing they can do about the situation, he’d be lucky if they both live. His train of thought is cut off suddenly by the impact of the ship into the planet.

He awakes coughing on a sandy planet. Everything around him is hot and something is stabbing into his side but he doesn't care to check and see what it is. He can’t remember when 80-8 put a harness on him but everything happens so quickly he isn’t surprised to find himself strapped into a chair. He reaches up with a shaky hand and unbuckles himself and it’s only when he crashes into the side of the ship that he realizes that he was suspended upside down in the chair. He groans and drags himself out of the ship, throwing himself onto the sand and facing towards the sky. He suddenly becomes acutely aware of voices in the distance and he subconsciously hopes they’re friendly before slipping back into unconsciousness again.

80-8 is vaguely aware of the hands on him pulling him out of the flaming pile of garbage that used to be his ship. He begins to relax and smile until he realizes that they don’t belong to Brian. He lets out a squeak and weakly tries to work his way out of the grasp of the person holding onto him. He manages to escape and stands up weakly to face the stranger, but his legs give out from under him and the stranger reaches forwards to stop him from falling. It takes all his strength but he manages to growl out a warning and he hopes this species understands english because he can’t speak many other languages.

“Eight? …80-8? Hey, calm down you’re safe” He furrows his brows, how does this person know his name? 80-8’s eyes finally come into focus to see a familiar face. His body relaxes into the persons arms and he lets out a strained chuckle.

“How lucky am I to crash land on Hasneon.” It’s barely a whisper but 80 is also barely hanging onto his consciousness. He realizes shortly after that he didn’t crash land alone and he begins trying to look around the wreckage, but he has little strength left in his body and it’s hard for him to move.

“Don’t worry about your friend,” the rescuer speaks. “He’s in our care as well.” 80-8 lets out a scoff

“I can always count on you Commander.” He tries his hardest to wink but ends up passing out into Commander’s arms.

When 80-8 re-awakens he’s painfully aware of every cut and scrape that he acquired during the crash. There’s a bandage wrapped around his head that’s covering one of his eyes and another one wrapped around his right arm. It takes him a moment to get his bearings and right as he begins to sit up to look around someone shoves him back down onto the cot he’s lying on.

“It would be unwise of you to sit up, sir” the voice of, what 80-8 assumes is, the village doctor speaks out. His suspicion is confirmed when his two eyes finally focus on the scene around him. He’s situated in a fairly large tent, which is unsurprising to him considering the people of Hasneon lived mostly in tents. He knew where he was from the interior of the tent, it’s one he had been in many times, as Hasneon became the closest thing to home after he was banished from his planet.

“It’s been awhile since we have seen you in here young Dokeian. I was starting to think you’d learned to stay out of trouble.” The nurse chuckles softly checking him over then turning to a tablet and writing something out. They were the one dedicated to keeping the Visathi that lived on the planet Hasneon in good health.

“How’s he doing Isaias.” A loud voice cuts through the quiet, it’s The Commander, the one who lead the small group of Visathi and the one who rescued him.

“Well,” Isaias, the doctor, starts “he’s doing decent, a lot better than his human friend, but that’s to be expected. Dokeians, especially ones bred to be in the aviary, are extremely resilient.” This causes 80-8 to try and sit up again, despite the earlier warning. He ignored the pain that spread through his body in favor of frantically looking for Brian.

“He- HEY!” the doctor yells grabbing him by the shoulders.

“He’ll live, it’ll just take longer for him to recover.” Isaias attempted to calm him, lowering their voice again, trying to get 80 to calm back down.

“If I let you get up and walk around it’ll take longer to recover, please 80.” he shakes his head weekly, trying to choke out a argument.

“Please,” they plead again “the faster you recover the faster you can see him.” 80-8 sighs and lays back down, accepting his fate. Isaias mubels out a thank you and begins to move away, however they are stopped when 80-8 swiftly grabs their wrist.

“I-I want updates.” He finally gets out weakly. Isaias smiles sympathetically and pats 80’s hand, nodding in agreement and moving away. The Commander takes Isaias’ spot next to 80-8, sitting down and leading on the nightstand.

“Where’ve you been buddy?” They ask quietly, “You left without a word, and then you come back like this? What happened?”

80-8 sighs and attempts to sink into the cot to get out of the situation. It was true he left the safety of the Visathi rather abruptly. He had gotten a distress signal from a friend from the Stardust crew, a group of aliens who are dead-set on protecting innocent planets from not so innocent species. Her name was Stra’yahn and she was known as a wanderer, a species of aliens that are unclassifiable. This due to the fact that they themselves and also their parents are a mix of many different species. She had been keeping a close eye on a ruthless race of bulky, one eyed aliens, known as the Erugalthi, and had word that a few had been trying to get access to Earth. He had been on the planet monitoring when he met Brian and became good friends with him. However, he was getting nowhere, and he had friends he needed to check on, so he decided he needed to leave. Brian had lived on Earth alone for a while and, especially after the death of his parents, he had been struggling to find a job that kept him happy but also paid the rent. So when 80-8 decided to leave, and after quite a bit of arguing, Brian left with him. However most of his time spent away from Hasneon was spent showing Brian around the galaxy, introducing him to friends of his, and running errands for said friends. But one of those friends that 80-8 wanted to introduce to Brian was the Visathi, so he began to make his way back home. However space is a dangerous place and it will always give you resistance at some point in your travels. And Brian and 80-8 ran into complications on the way back to Hasneon, specifically an asteroid field and some very scummy bandits. Luckily for the duo, 80-8 was born and raised to be a pilot, which also means he was born and raised to crash his ships.

80-8 let out a sigh and rolled his eyes, it was just like the Commander to expect the worst out of the situation. They made it out as if 80-8 had ten different bounties on his head, when in reality he’d just been in the wrong place at the wrong time. So he explains his situation in the dullest manner possible, knowing that The Commander was looking for an action packed tale. They didn’t get much action out on Hasneon, as the Visathi were a fairly peaceful race, so The Commander often enjoys recountings of risky battles and close combat. They scoff and lean back in their chair.

“That’s all? Man, the way you crashed made it seem like much more” They whine.

“You always expect the worse Com” 80-8 replies, shifting uneasily in his bed, still nervous about not being able to see Brian. Com sighs and puts a hand on his shoulder.
