Context (+non RWBY rant)

I hate supporting them because they don't support causes I care for and its really upsetting. Alot of these streaming services don't even allow us to record even if its just a clip, because they're more concerned about piracy nowadays than just helping a lot of these shows free publicity, in an age where people and the industry are just watching reboots rather than making their own. One day we won't see unique recreations of said shows or enterntainment because everything cost money, which I don't mind. A lot of us especially the kids who grew up in the age of the internet and FREE streaming services got a chance to experience it for one last time, even if it was free to watch with ads. Now its pay to watch with ads. People are getting tired of it. I'm beginning to believe this will be the beginning of the end for streaming services. A lot of us were or are still young people who found entertainment, everywhere. Yeah sure some of us are the type to want to catch up with the latest things, but eventually it will come to a time where we are simply just tired. And we already have it where a lot of creatives are just giving up because we are poor, a lot of creative services such as Adobe, require you to pay even just to use their service, or allow you to use their service for free but you have to pay to post. Surprisingly I can name a bunch of them.

Sorry to throw these companies under the bus, but:

Clip Studio Paint

While yes you let us use your service, we can't save and continue to our work on your service thus resulting in us just making short projects we can't even share right after were done with the piece and probably would have to screenshot it, and a low quality shot at that

Splice

From the moment I tried to use it in the 2020s to now, its been a pay the post service so not particularly useful if you want to make edits and animatics for free.

Capcut

Pay to post, not much to say. It use to be a free to use free to post, but now its a pay to post so not really useful for poor or broke creatives out there.

Kinemaster

You have to convert your video file to .kine file or make an account to upload, which kinda sucks.

Callipeg

Pay to use, and most likely pay to post.

Shonen Jump

For ANYONE who wants to read manga or comics, but first couple chapters and a couple of chapters free. But for someone who wants to binge or doesn't mind having a bunch of ads, not very useful, and even though its art, and the creatives of industry either know us creatives or broke butts are just as poor are broke as they are especially when a lot of companies are taking advantage of them.

I think I got into the app back when it first started so maybe late middle school or early high school. They didn't even have the community series section back then and it just started as a couple of stories.

Manta

Pay to read series, but to be very fair a lot of their stories are pretty mature and not even in the explicit way. Guess it's kinda a good thing so no impressionable children don't get heavily exposed to these really good but potentially traumatizing stories.

There are still free to watch series there so I'm not complaining to much. It's just when a series gets popular, like it was a popular webtoon or comic series, its usually pay to watch. Not really all that bad since there is a variety of shows from different cultures, just not a lot of SEA rep. but not really complaining, because now you know what to expect out of the platform. Still feel like a lot of Asians still have to go through colorism and you don't see anyone beyond light skinned or tan Asians, or foreigners from somewhere else in those shows. You never really see any mixed kids or interracial couple. You see a bunch of actors going through common struggles or repetitive, and it's not really teaching about experiences outside of it.

Crunchyroll

Used to be Free to Watch but gradually became Pay to Watch. There was a large selection of free to watch back in my senior year of hs, but all the shows now are pay to watch. Think I got into to it to watch free anime and to watch Boys Over Flowers with my mom back in middle school.

Netflix

Pay to watch streaming service. Think it always has been before redbox service stopped with dvd rentals, probably still alive, but less common.

Google

I hate that I cannot turn off ai overview and that searching is hard in general. But helps when I actually have legit questions about life or stuff. Better not become the next chat gpt.

Tiktok

Hating it because of the government here is going to use to get rid of immigrants, or take advantage of people who do not fit "their" social standards, saying this a Filipino my dude. Info farming in the worst ways.

Tappytoon

1 I'm going through a thing where I have to deal with immature idiots, not really anyone in particular. It's just that at some point you have to realize that there are a bunch of people who are ok with people suffering or get their rocks off at their suffering or others pointing out their cruelty and you know people like them will never care.

2 I was going through a digital art artblock since my birth month.

3 I still draw just traditionally.

4 Getting tired of seeing ai this ai that on other platforms.

5 I am depressed, have been for 12 years, guess I got really good at it at teenhood so I wouldn't embarass my friends. I still was. My cousin calls me jaded. She just didn't notice I guess, because she was too high in reality and is too engrained in stoner culture to notice and the life I had to deal with. Also said depression MIGHT be severe depression, considering 1 its recurring and I had a few episodes that led to me wanting or trying to end it. I think the true first episode was realizing how cruel those around me could be.
