Small rant, but I don't like the "shroedinger's sexuality" character writing approach Like, maybe I've just had bad luck with it, but anytime I see it done, it tends to be done in a; "anybody is dateable if you say the correct enough words, regardless of who you are", way, which just-- hm,,, hm. And it just feels like such a weak-willed way of managing sexuality, and I just... lose interest in a narrative so quickly when I realize that a character exists merely to indulge the main character/player's whims. God forbid anyone aside from the main character has a type or preference, and it's not you, no matter how hot you are by some conventional standard Like where are the "damn I like this girl, but she doesn't like me back, and there is nothing to fix or change, there is no secret attraction, or complicated reason as to why she can't reciprocate. This is just how it is, and maybe she doesn't wanna be my friend either, thats cool, she doesn't owe me that, and it is not a bad ending. Those I find appealing do not owe it to me to be a supporting character in my story." storylines??
