A brothers duty | Starter for Italy
Silence. Like a cliche post apocalypse movie, Italy’s entire country was shut down. For good reason. So many deaths lately. This Covid-19 had taken down the Italians like the black death did Florence. Yeah, surprisingly even though the French had the catacombs, in reality Florence was the area with the most deaths. In reality it was hurting both of the Italians. But, it seemed to be hitting Veneziano the worst. He had left his brothers half of the country a couple weeks ago due to an emergency on his side. Only for his brother to call him today and tell him that he wasn’t feeling the best.
Of course. This was just like him. To get sick at the worst of times. Vene told him not to worry. He was just calling to check up on Romano to make sure whatever emergency his half had was settled and if not he would come and try to help.
“Che?! You don’t think I can’t’a take care of my half? It is settled.” With that the pair hung up. Vene probably thought that was the last of it, but, Romano was already arranging his ride back to the other side of Italy. His people were strong. Tough. Resilient. They would be fine if he left for a bit again. Packing his bags, grabbing the little face mask a local child made for him, which was cute just because she took care to use tomato fabric print. He adored it and wore it every time he left his home. Which thankfully paid off because the same child ended up seeing him wear it causing her cute little chocolate brown eyes to light up in delight. Romano winking as he passed her to do whatever he was doing.
The Italian land was always a pleasure to drive through. This day however with the lack of cars, it was an amazingly short drive. In the back seat of Romano’s car was bags of food, a suitcase and a few small things for Vene.
In addition to being sick, he seemed like he was down. Whether it was because Romano left and he was actually enjoying having his brother around or because Germany has been off doing his thing and his brother was starting to miss him. Couldn’t imagine why. He could do better. But, it seemed like Feli had a thing for blondes. Ick.
Should it be a surprise that Romano was coming to take care of his brother? Most thought the elder to be a mean person, in fact Romano on the inside was a very caring individual. He just didn’t know how to show it. However, if one looked past his standoffish, dickish attitude they would see that he is truly a man who wants the best for everyone.
That especially stood for his brother or brother(s). Yes, even Seb. Despite not ever seeing him.
It was fairly late when Romano arrived and since he figured his brother was sleeping he used the key he had to unlock the door. One bag by one was taken in. Food in the kitchen. Suitcase by the door. The little gifts for Feli set on top of the suitcase.
Once the food was stored, he began to make a soup Italians made for when one was sick. Stracciatella, an egg drop like soup. The smell wafted through the house, which was irritating Romano, he didn’t want Vene to move if he was sleeping. He needed rest, water, sleep and a bit of wine never hurt anyone.
Slowly pouring the soup into a bowl, he set it on a tray with crackers, a bottle of ice cold water, medication, a wet washcloth, with ease, very carefully, the clumsy brother didn’t want to fuck this one nice gesture up. He knew it would put him in a foul mood. Which wouldn’t be a very good time. Not now.
On the way up the stairs, he grabbed the gifts (One being a new, plush blanket and the other being a frame with a picture of him and Germany he got off of his brothers facebook.) and headed to Italy’s room.
Placing the tray upon his knee, hand shakily reached for the door handle, turning it and with a soft click, allowed the door to swing open. The face mask still upon his face. If Feli had caught the Covid-19, Romano didn’t want to catch it. Who would help the country then? But, if he did catch it, at least they’d be sick together, he just hoped it wouldn’t.. well cause them to meet Grandpa Rome. Permanently.
Placing the tray on the nightstand, Romano shook Feli softly. His hues softened. For once he wasn’t vicious. No insults. No loudness. Just concern. “Hey... figured I’d come visit again since you know.. I didn’t have anything else going on.”
There was stuff that needed to be done, but, he didn’t want his brother to stress. Lovino would gladly take on Feli’s work load on top of his own. He just wanted him better. It was apart of a brother’s duty.
