    [Phoenix]- The redhead gasped softly, thinking for a moment that someone had perchance recognized her among the colorful thrall of party goers. Not that it would be much of a stretch, the woman refused to wear a wig or color her hair and her natural tresses were a signature of her presense wherever she went. Her costume and columbiana mask hid all the rest of her features.

    A deep blue tunic with a train attached to mimic a peacock’s feathers just barely brushing the floor was matched with intricately jeweled legging and shoes. The mask itself was decorated similarly, with steaks of gold and emerald painted on to resemble feathers around the eyes. Her hair she had managed to tame into a delicate updo with short peacock feathers inserted into the bun. Against the stark contrast of her hair and pale skin, she was simply a vision.

    Smiling softly, she turned to fully face her newest companion- although, she would recognize that sing-song Italian accent anywhere. Victoria decided to play with him a little bit, see how long it would take him to recognize her. “The same must go for yourself kind sir, but thank you.” her accent switched from her melodious Irish to a clear British the Queen herself would be proud of, a trick she reserved for when she wished to keep a low profile among high class gathering such as this. At the time she loathed it, but in her mind she thanked Arthur for those lessons now.

Hidden away from the rest of the world, not because of lockdown or anything but because of what today was. He dreaded this day. More than Christmas. More than anything.

He was sure he’d get a visit from Grandpa Rome despite his unwillingness to see him, because he’d cry like a baby.

But, he knew he’d also see his brother who he was sure would want to celebrate this once a year event. But why? It was just another year. A notch in their belt.

Stuffed into the back of his closet, hidden away with his tomatoes and blanket, green hues stared intently into the black abyss, straining his ears for even the littlest of bumps.
