Transcript of Lex's letter to Lena in 4x17:
Dear Lena I wish I could say it wasn't personal -- planting a spy, stealing your research -- but it is. What'd you expect? You betrayed me first. You rejected me, you testified against me... you were ashamed of me and my brilliant legacy. But I was the one who should have been ashamed of you because you were so easy to fool. You see, I planted Little Miss Eve Tessmacher in your orbit, in your company. She was my spy, She told me of the experiments you did at the DEO, about how you progressed with your research... and how she and I could steal this research from you. So I escaped prison, knocked you out, and stole it. Bing, Bang, Boom. Easy You're going to want to chase us... don't. This time I left you unconscious. Next time I won't be so sentimental. Remember always - the villainy you teach me I will execute, and it shall go hard but I will better the instruction Fondly, Lex Luthor
(The italicized line is from Shylock in A Merchant of Venice.)
Lesser-known steps of the writing process:
Finding all the paragraphs where you used some hyper-specific word more than once
Rearranging paragraphs that you swear you wrote in the right order but turned out to be totally backwards
Going for a walk, coming up with the perfect line, and forgetting it as soon as you get home and open your laptop
Creating a separate document where you can dump all of those nice sentences that no longer fit in anywhere
Waking up in a cold sweat because so-and-so was supposed to be barefoot but never actually took his shoes off
Okay two things
1) every time I see something like this, or photos of wild unrealistic landscapes that really exist, or spectacular architecture, whatever it is, I think again that when we write fantasy, we NERF REALITY. That is, here's some dude with a special interest and a brain that somehow lacks basic self preservation mechanisms, and he's out here looking like a super hero. Regular humans are capable of things we seem super human. Real landscapes are more fantastical than our fantasies. Reality is more fantastical than our fantasies.
2) how the fuck did he not kick out any windows that's the most impressive part of the whole video.
this man is his own zombie apocalypse team, adding anyone else would just slow him down
So as someone who used to teach parkour back in the day, this dude isn’t just talented. His technique is amazing.
It’s not just about not kicking out windows. Controlling how you land is about shock absorption, about minimizing the strain on your joints. It also makes you quieter when you move. A good landing should be as silent as possible, because loud landings hurt. That’s the foundation of everything else you do in parkour. So by the time you’re climbing buildings, if you’re breaking windows it means you don’t have enough control to land safely and it’s time to go back to your ground basics.
Picturing that scene from every Spider-Man origin movie or comic ever, where he's standing on the edge of the building daring himself to be brave and take the leap... only he looks over the edge and there's someone doing parkour, defying logic and gravity climbing up, going 'hi' and running away to leap onto the next roof.

Convince Audible to revise it's New Royalty Model
What really ticks me off when talking about ai is when people are like "it's unavoidable" or "you'll have to learn to use it someday" or "its going to be part of the future" like no it's plenty avoidable actually if you have a spine stronger than a dandelion. You simply say "no" and continue to use your own goddamn brain.
FINALLY got around to dumping Spotify after their CEO continued to prove he's a fresh turd. (As if being a billionaire, not paying musicians, shoving AI garbage at us, and having an atrocious carbon footprint wasn't bad enough, he's now the chair of a AI-based weapons manufacturing company.)
I used TuneMyMusic ($24 annual fee you can cancel immediately, effectively paying only once) to transfer almost every single song from our Spotify account to Tidal. Tidal already has much better sound quality and they pay their artists much better. It migrated over 99% of our music, too, so there wasn't a huge loss.
I did this over in November when they gave Trump $100,000.
Tidal is incredible. Not only is it MUCH cheaper than Spotify, but the audio quality is much better. Artists DO get paid more, and their algorithm is actually coded by humans (did you wonder why Spotify Wrapped has been sucking, it's the AI).
You can download your Spotify playlists as .CSV files and then use a program to 'covert' them to Tidal. I used Exportify. It cost me $2 to transfer over 35 playlists and a total of 4,300+ songs. Two dollars.
Tidal's UI is similar to Spotify so you can jump right in and do the same stuff you've always done. You can make playlists, edit playlist covers, you have a discover daily, the mixes make more sense and are based on YOUR tastes, and to top it all off, did I mention it's cheaper?
And for those who drive a lot, it takes a lot less room on your phone and barely any data. I HIGHLY recommend making the jump!
I’m just saying if Daniel Radcliffe, the literal protagonist of the Harry Potter franchise since the age of ten years old, was able to disavow JK Rowling and move on from the HP universe then actually what the fuck is anyone else’s excuse. There is no one else on the planet who can say their entire childhood was HP more than that guy and he still cared about trans people more than the average tumblr user who says “we’re protesting by making all her characters queer and trans!!” like you can do better. You should do better.

are you really dying on the defending futanari porn hill
Yup!
I am!
I am because we are dealing with enemies who are trying to police queerness by appealing to those who are uncomfortable with certain kinks and fetishes.
Despite what we pretend here on Tumblr, everything is connected. No discourse exists in a vacuum. If you accept the premise that you should be able to police people's kinks and fetishes because they make you uncomfortable, why stop there?
There are some transgender and intersex people who are uncomfortable with futa fetishes. Fine.
But there are a lot of fetishes that make people uncomfortable.
What if Christians are uncomfortable with people who have priest or nun kinks? Should they be able to police those because they are fetishizing Christianity?
Let me ask you, have you been paying attention to how TERFs are recruiting? Have you been listening to their rhetoric about transgender people?
A big part of their narrative is claiming that transgender people are deviants who are dressing up as a way of acting out their sexual fetish. Their narrative is that being a transgender woman is morally wrong because it's fetishizing being a woman.
Using this as a recruiting tool, there are two basic things that the TERF needs to convince their targets.
1. They need to convince their target that trans women aren't real and they are just men who enjoy dressing up as women as part of their fetish.
2. They need people to take the step that this is a bad thing and that the fetish is wrong just because it makes them uncomfortable.
If you are in the queer community and you are arguing that certain fetishes are bad just because they make you uncomfortable, and you are spreading that to allies... You have already conceded half the battle. You have already convinced people around you that it is completely valid to police other people's fetishes.
So now all the TERF has to do is reframe queerness as a fetish.
The absolute best inoculation against TERF rhetoric is twofold. It is having people who both know that being trans isn't a fetish... But even if TERFs try to convince them otherwise, they wouldn't see that as a problem.
And can I add that a lot of queer representation today likely got its origin with writers who were consuming material from early 2000s fanfiction that helped normalize queerness in writing.
Steven Universe, the first cartoon with major characters having a queer wedding, and had a number of queer relationships through the series, was created by someone who started out making Ed Edd and Eddy smut.
And I think that Steven Universe helped pave the way for The Owl House later.
I genuinely don't think that queer representation would have gotten as far as it has if not for yaoi and yuri creators helping normalize it in fandoms.
And I completely understand people who have issues with being called a futa in real life. And if somebody says that to you, you have my permission to choke them.
But in general, I think that it is a good thing to respect people's fetishes and their kinks with a few truly harmful exceptions.
And I will gladly die on this hill because I believe it is the first line of defense against queerphobes who are trying to demonize queerness by framing it as just fetishes.
wikipedia no longer being anywhere near the top of search results when looking up anything feels eviscerating
#they really said “you can’t use wiki as an academic source-use our garbage AI that’s even less reliable”#and you can’t even opt out of it
no but you can FORCE it away. use ublock origin and copy paste the blacklist i made into the filters to be able to remove the bullshit AI overview that google forces. it also removes youtube's forced ads (at least until they fix it)
you can also use the ublacklist extension and use this blacklist of AI image generation websites to curate your google image results
there are ALWAYS ways around stuff. it's just a matter of looking into it and asking around
