Hear that? That’s the collective rolling of the eyes of every purpose-bred dog owner in the world. Our dogs want to work. Without a job, they’re not happy.

police k-9s are abused into becoming weapons. Not ideologically, “i hate cops so i’m calling it abuse to put a poor innocent baby dog near a big mean cop.” I mean I’ve seen people train the dogs, i’ve heard k-9 trainers brag on themselves; the tactics they use both physically and mentally shut down the dog and turn the animal into an insecure and reactive animal. The dogs are taught to lose their self-preservation interest and they are there as a tool to put space between the suspect and the cop, even to be beaten and killed. (No, the big human pageantry we see when cops hold a funeral for one of their “fallen k-9 officers” doesn’t make up for or counteract this fact.) Also, using the animals on suspects inherently means that a person who has not been found guilty of a crime - anyone who’s POC, who “fits the description” - could be attacked by one of these dogs, injured and maimed, and THEN face charges if they tried to fight the dog off.
