“Positive Balance Skateboards”
Although skateboarding is illegal in most populated areas of Japan, the culture has, in recent years, made it's way over to the Eastern world. Between 14-year-old prodigies popping up in Shiga, unique and committed Japanese skaters signing with major sponsors, and skate shops opening right off the main strip in Shibuya, it's safe to say that Japan, like many countries before it, is quickly becoming a prime destination and stomping ground of skateboarding and the culture that follows.
"Sakaba Makimono / Bar Room Scroll"
Like in many other countries, drinking is a huge pastime in Japan. With this design, I wanted to encapsulate the subtle yet flashy aesthetics of Tokyo's Shinjuku ward at night. Shinjuku is one of the largest red light districts within Japan, and has been ever since the Edo Period (around the 17th century). Japan's drink of choice is, of course, Sake, though many Japanese are known to favor beer and even whisky.

Fūrin (風鈴, lit. wind bell) are traditional Japanese decorations hung outside of homes and other buildings during the Summer that are believed to ward off evil spirits with the chimes they make whilst catching the wind. The piece of paper that hangs from the chime exist in order for one to acknowledge the presence of the wind, as it is believed, by doing so, one can stay cool even on the warmest of days.

“Bang..” The Type 26 Hammerless Revolver ( 二十六年式拳銃) was the first modern revolver to become standard issue in the Japanese Imperial Army. It was developed by Koishikawa Arsenal and was adopted during the 26th year of Emperor Meiji's reign.
Jitte (十手 lit. "ten hands") were specialized baton-like weapons used by the Japanese police force during the Edo period of Japan. Due to laws which restricted even government officials from carrying swords within the shogun's palace, blunt weapons such as the Jitte were designed.
During the Edo period, the Jitte became a symbol of law, and was often regarded in a way similar to how police badges are seen now. The weapon, though simple, had various uses, such as bludgeoning, blocking, and sword catching. Some higher members of the police force even carried concealed stiletto spikes within the hilt of their customized jitte.
Hey there followers, new and old! Long time, no see. Cleaned up and revamped this series of minimal designs, with solid colors instead of texturing. I might end up expanding this series a bit, we shall see!
I realize I’m a little late to the party, but here’s an “animated” logo for the video game “OFF” by Mortis Ghost!

"It was too big to be called a sword. Massive, thick, heavy, and far too rough. Indeed, it was a heap of raw iron."

Something small today, a pixel art rendition of a traditional Japanese torii gate. "Torii" translates to bird abode, and are used as symbols to signify the location of Shinto Temples on Japanese maps.
Another bonsai, for this slushy, rainy day.
