【春のうたたね】

A Tiny Bit of Autumn Refused to Leave Omihachiman, Shiga.

During Golden Week, my boyfriend, his mum, and I travelled to Omihachiman. We took the ropeway up to the Hachimanyama Castle Ruins viewing platform to see the scenery, and while we were up there we spotted something really strange but beautiful — one tree still had bright red autumn leaves, even though it’s already May.

Surrounded by fresh green spring leaves, it stood out completely from all the others. It honestly looked like the tree had forgotten what season it was… but somehow made the whole view even prettier.

慶雲館は明治時代の天皇の行幸に合わせて急遽作られた建物なんだとか。3ヶ月の突貫工事だったそうですが、それが100年以上経った今でも私たちの目を楽しませてくれています。

昔ながらの木枠のガラス窓がずらりと並ぶ廊下。良い。こういうサッシではない昔からのガラス窓を見ていると、今はもうない祖父の家が思い出されます。懐かしいなぁ。

こういう建物だからこそ、より盆梅も映えるわけです。
