the odyssey (2026)
"The last time any human touched Ryland Grace was an act of horrific violence"
Well... Yes and no.
The last time Ryland Grace was CONSCIOUS of any human touch was when he was knocked out. Absolutely true.
But the last human contact he would have had was Yao and Ilyukhina. Who were told that he was scared about panicking during launch and asked to be sedated. Who did all the pre flight checks before the Hail Mary launched. Who would have carefully, gently carried Grace to his bed in the dormitory, made sure he was secure, and initiated his coma procedure.
There would have been love there. Remember Ilyukhina throwing her hands high and saying "welcome to crew!" Remember Yao saying how he hoped Grace would say yes. Remember how much the crew trusted Grace, Stratt's First Officer, the guy who helped them so much, and was so kind to them, and was the one who they entrusted their preferred methods of suicide to. Who thought they were wonderful and brave.
They would have tucked him in. Maybe brushed his hair out of his face. Maybe said something kind to him before initiating their own coma procedures.
Ryland Grace doesn't remember, of course he wouldn't. But the last human touch he ever had was full of love.
Yes Rocky meant to do that, yes Simon is okay

Never forget your roots partner 🚬
back in January, my friend @bustedjaws on tumblr dot com came to me and told me i needed to make markiplier and ryan gosling gay, and then i did. in February, i posted it, and (to my knowledge) it is the first fanart made of bloodstar, now deemed by the fandom bloodymary AND IM HONORED TO HAVE CREATED THIS SHIP
💬 11 🔁 41 ❤️ 317 · need to draw more of this man, gotta refine his style, and also phm doodles because yes its relevant look at these path
AND THEN MARKIPLIER ACKNOWLEDGED OUR EXISTENCE (timestamp) AND HONESTLY IM SO FUCKING HAPPY DUDE
all jokes aside, even if this ship wasn't nearly as big as it currently is, i would still be shipping it to this day. and as big of an ego i have about this, this fandom and community wouldn't be what it is without everybody that ships them. like yeah did i technically make them? probably, but it's not important to me that people know my contributions to the bloodymary fandom, it's important to me that people came together to ship these two.
so many people in the fandom either stumbled across this or thought of this on their own and then found that there was a community and fandom for all of this. because the community is so kind and happy about wanting these two doomed spacemen to be happy together.
and you know what? im happy markiplier knows. im happy that he's able to see the love that we have for his blorbo and ryan gosling's blorbo, and im not ashamed of that.

i like it too :)
I love how Zohran Mamdani is wearing a suit everywhere. And if he has anything else he puts it ON TOP of the suit. A basketball jersey. A high-vis vest. All worn over the suit. He’s like the mayor character in a cartoon who’s always dressed as The Mayor. If I didn’t know who he was and he biked past me in NYC I’d be like holy shit was that the mayor
he jumped in a pool in the suit yesterday to celebrate the public pools opening for the summer btw

someone on twitter figured out how to make an ao3 site skin to show if someone used ai (specifically claude, and specifically copy-pasted into the fic without being put in a word doc or something first, but still better than nothing) and i am delivering this information to YOU!
step 1. go here (create new site skin page). (if you don't have an ao3 account you'll need to make one. i promise it is so so so easy and you'll get to read a bunch of member-locked fics u didn't know existed)
step 2. copy paste this:
body:has(.userstuff p.font-claude-response-body) #outer, body:has(.userstuff p.font-claude-response-body) #main, body:has(.userstuff p.font-claude-response-body) .userstuff, body:has(.userstuff p.font-claude-response-body) .userstuff p, body:has(.userstuff p.font-claude-response-body) .userstuff div { background: #ff0000 !important; color: #ffffff !important; }
in the css box, name it whatever u want, and, if you are NOT using a site skin already, click submit.
if you ARE using a site skin already, click "show advanced" (takes your hand. i will protect you. i promise). click the box next to "parent only." now click submit.
step 3. if you're already using a site skin, find it and click edit. scroll down to "parent skins" and add the one you just made. click update.
now if you click on a fic where the author copy-pasted claude directly into the work text box, the whole screen will turn bright red 👍 (or, if you go into the skin you just made and change #ff0000 to another hex code, it can be whatever color u want) (the world is your oyster. go my scallops)
edit since i forgot to add how it works: it doesn’t look for typical “ai tells” at all, instead it searches the code for “font-claude-response-body” in the source code, which is why it only knows something’s ai if it was copy-pasted directly from claude! i’m not sure if there’s similar code for other llms and i’m not sure how i’d find out but i’m glad there’s at least one way to tell if something wasn’t fully human-made
Wacom recently asked me to talk about why I make queer comics, and given there are multiple bills right now floating around in congress that are effectively "we will kill your livelihood if we get a sniff of queer" I had some pretty strong, simply feelings to relay.
You can read the interview here, you can buy my graphic novel featuring a gay vampire here, and you can call your congressmen about rejecting HR 2616, HR 8705, HR 7661 using 5calls.org (they don't have these specific bills listed as things to call about, but luckily you can talk about whatever you want on the phone)
i will never stop loving how dr stone gives us a stoic supergenius protagonist who's always idolizing science and logic and stuff and then instead of going the easy route and using that framework of cold logic to make him some aloof holier-than-thou figure who's above such petty things as "emotions" and "friendship" the show goes no! senku is actually a deeply compassionate person because that is in fact the logical conclusion to come to. there is no such thing as a lone genius. science is a collaborative effort, built upon the shoulders of those who came before. all of senku's vast mountains of knowledge would amount to absolutely nothing if it wasn't backed up by taiju's strength, yuzuriha and kaseki's crafting skills, chrome's ingenuity, the practical experience of people like ukyo and ryusui, the many individual skills of each and every person in the kingdom of science, the tens of thousands of years of human progress it took to build up those stores of knowledge in the first place, and the eternal faith and support of his father byakuya. every action senku takes is not simply borne out of devotion to science, but out of devotion to this specific understanding of science - the understanding that scientific progress is inextricably linked to society itself and that one cannot exist without the other. senku may be the smartest man alive (not to mention the de facto leader of humanity's remains), but he still recognizes that he is only a single man, no more or less important to humanity's survival than anyone around him.
Okay so. Maybe I've just never been involved in fandom at its peak popularity. That is entirely possible, even if I don't really think it's true. I was involved in the hazbin hotel fandom as both seasons came out. I wrote for the mandalorian while there was hype for the new movie. I wrote for stranger things while season four was airing. But still. Maybe I've just never been involved in such a large fandom at such an influential time.
But this is still crazy, right?
I think we can all agree that fandom culture is Different these days, okay? It's a lot of mindless consuming. Looking at art and reading fanfiction and looking at posts. Dropping a like or a kudos and being on with it. Not actually commenting on the work or engaging with the creator. I find myself guilty of this sometimes, too. It's become less normalized to vocalize your excitement for something someone has created.
Which, without getting into it as much as I could, is a really big reason I never finish things. Simplified, it's because I stop caring because people stop caring. And you can preach to me all day about creating for the joy of yourself - and that's absolutely true - but it's hard to stay motivated on one project when it feels like I'm the only one who cares about it. So I make a lot of projects and never actually finish them.
But it does really feel different with the people putting phm and iron lung together? Like. The genuine engagement I've gotten with it has been ridiculous compared to literally anything else i've written for or been involved in. My fic with just above 2,000 hits has forty comment threads. People reply and reblog and add tags on my posts. I feel like I'm actually talking to a community instead of posting to a void of hypothetical people that don't care enough to say anything.
I don't know. Maybe I just haven't been in the right fandom spaces. Maybe I just got lucky and a lot of really excited people found my stuff. But it's beyond wonderful to have a fandom of people actually really excited to be an actual community and talk to each other and create together. It's just so refreshing after actual years of barely anything.
it ain’t personal

the best fanfiction you've ever read was written by a woman in her 40s before she made dinner for her kids. it was written by a teenager after school when they should've been studying for a history test. and a barista came up with the idea while they cleaned the espresso machine and busser fact-checked it on their break and the post-doc edited between writing grant proposals and the nurse apologized for typos in the notes after a long shift and behind every drabble and one-shot and multi-chapter fic there is a person with a wonderful and interesting and chaotic life and it is such a privilege that we get to be a part of it because they decided to do this thing we all share, for fun.
