*No exact year is given for TRHOD, but Hellboy mentions the events of SOD, which takes place in 1994, happening four years ago. 1998 is the best estimate.
*Likewise, Box Full of Evil has no confirmed year, but Hellboy recounts visiting Count Guarino’s house in 1969, while Guarino himself bought it roughly 2 years later. He also tells Kate at the end about an injury Abe survived “a few years ago” in 1992 fighting the Ogopogo, and holds up the Lemurian Right Hand of Doom paper he showed Adrian Frost in 1998.
*Darkness Calls has almost no mention of time until the epilogue when Kate Corrigan finds a month-old letter from Hellboy that he’d sent to Connecticut, not knowing about the BPRD’s new location, and remarks that he’s been gone for 6 years, which roughly places the events of DC in 2008 (following from The Island, which is 2002). Other Details: Abe is wearing a sweater to emulate Langdon Everett Caul, but I will make a separate timeline for the BPRD. Liz mentions Daimio, the frogs, and Roger, which means this happens well past the Black Flame arc and Roger’s eventual death.
*No year is given for TWH either, but Hellboy mentions that the Osiris Club hasn’t aged in the last 50 years since he last saw them during TNOTB, which was set in 1954. This places TWH in 2004. Other Details: the club members state that the sisters have been dead for 12 years out of the 20 since Hellboy first helped them, placing their death in 1992 and Hellboy’s unknown case with them in 1984. Trevor Bruttenholm was a guest of the Wild Hunt in 1943. Alice mentions that it’s been 43 years since Hellboy was last at her house after rescuing her in 1959, when she started seeing the fae again around the ages of 4-5. Hellboy posits the years as 1962 or 63, which now in 2004 makes Alice 45.

sorry going crazy with the parallels here but i think there could also be some to make between the seven original Osiris Club members and the seven Ogdru-Jahad
omgg and the parallel to nimue wanting bloodshed for the sake of bloodshed and hellboy mauling the giants oh that’s so good. that’s also unfortunately another reason why the 2019 movie is so so awful. they wanted to be guardians of the galaxy so bad
i think genuinely the worst part about the wild hunt is hellboy and alice randomly having a romantic interest in each other. like even with their immortality he knew her when she was a newborn and a child .. i feel like it’s just common sense they shouldn’t have done that but at least it never became a recurring thing so it’s very easily ignorable in the grand scheme

okay i think im actually getting a comprehensive timeline down for the comics but i don’t know if i want to post it just yet or like organize it in a template or something first or just wait till it’s all entirely finished.. like for now im only following the main series’ storyline as i reread it so none of the BPRD side stuff is being marked down yet
woah woah are they implying the actual god of the hunt Herne was with them wearing the deer mask and orchestrated Hellboy’s assassination attempt. like this guy literally calls him cousin. Wow.
also noticing a pattern of different characters antagonizing hellboy while also emphasizing his inhumanness ; Henry Hood attacks him for being half witch and half demon, and Koschei assumes that the concept of a soul is meaningless to him. even tho the wild hunt comes way later i feel like this is all leading up to the Osiris club betraying him for being a “monster.”

the beginning of wild hunt is rlly funny with the huntsmen being so serious and snobby about the whole ordeal and Hellboy’s just like “okayyy so you guys have secret identities and your leader is a deer furry? sounds awesome. very cool and mysterious” “you’re seriously pissed off you didn’t inherent the SLUG house?” and then of course it all goes downhill from there
