So quiet...
I forgot about that bit actually. I guess Iâve forgotten that I have to pretend, Iâm just so used to saying the same phrases over and over again, maybe Iâve come to⌠Believe them. Not that I do, but you know what I mean. Yeah⌠Itâs not⌠Not like that though, itâs just- A new friend, someone I can talk to. It feels very nice, someone who doesnât want to get to know me to get in my pants, you know?
I wish I could say the same. I still want to throw up when I say them, and I still want to pretend I'm deaf and can't hear them at those parties. But whatever it takes to stay in their good books, right? I just want it to be less disgusting. I wasn't implying that it's like anything, Sunny. I'm just happy that you found someone who makes you smile a bit more, because if there's one thing that can lighten up this place, it is you being happy.
So quiet...
Oh, all the parties with the most insane amounts of food, not to mention how weâre supposed to throw it all up so we can keep eating⌠Itâs not exactly a good thing, not at all. If anything, itâs really damn boring. No, I really donât act grumpy at all, but I am⌠A little bit happier lately. I just⌠I found myself in some new company, and Iâm enjoying it immensely.
The part with the food and throwing up isn't even the worst about it. Having to pretend like I love the Capitol and talking to everyone there is even worse sometimes. I'd rather stuff myself with food than do that. Oh, you did? I'm so happy to hear that, Sunny. You deserve some more happiness.
So quiet...
Arenât we forced to attend enough parties as is? Well, I would want to celebrate getting out of all this. Get absolutely wasted to celebrate freedom. Iâm⌠Iâm alright. Iâm tired very often though, Iâm not getting much sleep. But other than that, Iâm good. I seem to smile a little bit more as of late.
We are forced to attend ridiculously disgusting parties that make no fun. I would throw one that would be fun and live up to the expectations for this kind of occasion. Not getting much sleep isn't a surprise around here. It's not like you usually run around all grumpy faced, but I did notice that. And I like seeing it. Is there any special reason for that?
So quiet...
Oh, that would have been absolutely amazing, I would not at all complain if that were the case. Itâs just been⌠Too quiet, itâs very freaky. Howâve you been, Robbie, we havenât talked in forever!
Neither would I. In fact, I would probably throw a tiny party if that were the case. Too bad it probably isn't. Oh, I've been good. As good as you can be around here at least, I guess. What about you though? It is true that we haven't talked in forever.

So quiet...
Eerily quiet, actually⌠Itâs- concerning to say the least.
Maybe they finally forgot about the games and we're free now. That's a better thought than thinking this building turned into a ghost town.
PROMPT: BEGINNING
Wake up, eat, smile, sleep. Wake up, eat, smile, sleep.
The days in the Capitol followed the same tiring, exhausting routine, yet every single one of them seemed to be a new trip of horror for Robbie. Some days he wondered if he would even ever get used to this. Probably not. Looking at the mentors that were still older than him, he was actually quite sure that it never would. Except if he decided to drown himself in alcohol and pills, and that hadn't worked out too well. He wasn't sure if he should want it to help anyway.
Stepping into the elevator on the tenth floor, Robbie leaned against the cool walls, inhaling a deep breath as he looked at himself in the mirror in front of him. In his dreams he was still just a little boy who had to sit on a pillow next to Caesar to appear taller, answered his questions in a high, insecure voice and looked at the pictures of teenagers killing each other, of him killing others, put a look of horror on his face. When he was awake, the face in the mirror staring back at him was that of a grown up man, with shielded blue eyes not showing any sort of emotion, with skin stretching tight over the muscles he had built at night, and nothing that could possibly put horror over his lean frame. Not on the surface at least.Â
Running a hand through his hair, he pushed himself away from the wall, rolling his shoulders to get rid of the tension in his sore muscles, but that was probably impossible. It felt like the exhaustion sat deep inside his body, in the deepest fibres of his muscles and bones. It was everywhere and not letting him go.Â
Mentoring wasn't an easy job, and sometimes Robbie wished to be able to go back in time and not survive the Games for the simple reason that he didn't have the nerves to send young innocent teenagers to their death bed without being able to do much about it. Even if the nightmares were already eating away at him, this job did so even more. Building their hopes up every day destroyed his own, seeing the flicker of life in their eyes blew out the one in his, and letting them cry at his shoulder made him reach for someone else's shoulder for him to cry on.
Today though, there was no shoulder for him to cry on, and no possibility to crawl into his bed and hide there like a weak doll either. It just so happened that his male tribute of the year had done something stupid, was held up by peacekeepers now, and Robbie had to fix that. At least this was something he could actually fix, not like the approaching death of these children.Â
Stepping out of the elevator in the basement, he already saw a woman in a white uniform stand next to the door to the training rooms, with crossed arms, an annoyed look on her face, and brows that furrowed at his sight. Robbie put his best smile on his face, pulled the corners of his lips up with imaginary fingers and straightened his shoulders as he stopped in front of the peacekeeper.Â
"Hey. Listen, I'm sorry about what Scott did in there. I'm a hundred per cent sure that he knows he's not allowed to attack other tributes, and I'm also a hundred per cent sure that that wasn't his intention. You know how they are, teenagers, heated heads, angst before the games. You can't seriously blame him for what he did. Besides, I think the Capitol wants to see their tributes entering the arena as a whole human being and not scarred from something else already", Robbie started to ramble, his voice light and careless - as if he was.Â
The peacekeeper rolled her eyes and just nodded back over her shoulder. Then she moved to the side and through the door into the training room, leaving Robbie alone again. Or so he thought. After exhaling a deep breath, he caught movement out of the corner of his eyes and turned around to see another peacekeeper drag his tribute down the corridor. The young boy, seventeen years old, pretty thin even for a District 10 boy, with reddened cheeks and sweaty blond hair, stared at the floor in front of him instead of Robbie, who folded his arms in front of his chest and raised an eyebrow. Although he didn't feel like blaming the young boy, he couldn't appear too careless either. If Scott did something like that again, attack another tribute with a sword, something was bound to happen to him.
Robbie's eyes wandered from the angry face of his tribute to the strong fingers holding him by his jacket, and from there up to the face that was hidden by a helmet but revealed soon after. His eyes connected with deep blue ones, hard and unforgiving, and a thousand times more distant than Robbie's own had looked in the elevator. High cheekbones drew sharp shadows onto scruff covered cheeks, brows furrowed low over those hardened eyes, lips pressed into a thin line. Yes, Robbie had to admit himself that face looked anything but inviting. Yet he couldn't help but feel like he wanted to run his hand through those brown locks and graze his lips along that jawline.Â
Shaking his head slightly, he pulled himself out of those hilarious thoughts and cleared his throat, barely keeping himself from blushing. "You can let him go now, thanks. Please. You're not going to harm him for such a stupid teenage thing to do, are you?"
For a few seconds silence hang over the corridor, then the peacekeeper's lips opened and a deep bass voice with a slight accent Robbie hadn't heard in a while reached his ears. "We actually should."
Seriously? Robbie's swooning stopped immediately, probably only caused by his too long abstinence. Was this guy serious now? What the hell would it give him to punish a little boy who'd die in a week anyway? "But you won't", he replied in a cold voice, eyes battling with those of the peacekeeper. The other man raised an eyebrow, so did Robbie in return. Finally, the peacekeeper replied, "I haven't decided that yet."
Robbie rolled his eyes, pointing at the closed door next to him. "Look, your colleague just walked off, so I'm assuming she doesn't really care. You shouldn't either. He's going to be thrown into a deathly arena in two days and will probably be punished better than whatever you can think of in that brain of yours. Just let him go, okay? He won't get dinner tonight, if that makes you feel better." His lips formed a smile, rather sarcastic. The attitude of this man pissed him off, he had to admit it. Threatening to hurt Scott wasn't really something that was attractive, even if the rest of him was.
Eventually, the man's fingers losened around Scott's shirt and he took a step back. "If you attack another tribute again, I'll break your fingers on my own", were the last words formed by that deep voice, then the peacekeeper turned around and walked off. So did Robbie. His fingers tightened around Scott's arms once he grabbed it and then he started pulling his tribute down to the other side of the corridor, disregarding the quiet "ouch" leaving Scott's lips. "Never get me into such a situation ever again", Robbie said through gritted teeth shortly before they appeared at the elevator.
He slammed his hand against the button, and only then looked back. His eyes found another pair of blue ones at the other end of the corridor, and for a second it even looked as if they softened, sending a rush of tingles through Robbie's body. Then the contact broke, the elevator door's opened and Robbie returned to reality.
But that was the day that changed his hatred for the Capitol, and if only because one person managed to make his stays better.

Silhouettes | Jethro & Robbie
Capitol parties. Deplorable. In retrospect they were divine, but when you were a Peacekeeper responsible for the guests safety, the good time seemed to dwindle. Jethro had been there from the start, surveying the area and giving orders. There were drunks every which way and women to ogle at a man in uniform. He dealt no interest their way, and wished for none in return. He stood beside the partyâs main entrance, peering clearly through the visor of his helm. If his face was available to the public eye, theyâd be able to see just how entertained Jethro truly was. Capitol parties- Jethro knew- rarely ended at midnight. By dawn some would shuffle out, and the rest would be escorted. Passed out or not, the room would be cleared, and heâd be assigned to yet another building that held another room with yet another horrific group to babysit. Well, Jethro only ever wanted to âbabysitâ one person, and heâd just arrived.
As always, the mentor held what Jethro had decided to be a godly complexion. If anyone else in the room would agree, he knew itâd be every woman within Robinâs vicinity. He was too handsome for his own good, and the attention he received was always enough to make Jethro drown in envy. Overprotective? Perhaps so. It was difficult not to be when your relationship happened to be punishable by death. Snow never missed a chance for an execution. Jethro himself had carried out a number of them personally. When he was around, he liked to consider Robbie untouchable. Except, of course, by him. In charge of that nightâs security had a plus side after all.
Peeling his eyes off Robbie for even a millisecond was a challenge, but necessary if Jethro planned to leave his post. There were plenty soldiers under his command that he could place at his station, and it didnât take more than a glance Robbieâs way to tempt him. Raising a hand he motioned toward a recruit across the room and hardly waited for a sign of recognition before pushing from the wall. The sweat-filled sea parted quite easily as he walked, most likely not finding it in their interest to challenge one with a gun. He couldnât blame them for being fearful. As of late, several Peacekeepers had resorted to the weaponâs use. Panem was growing restless, and he was a soldier in its vengeful wake.
As always Robbie was well dressed for his attendance. Catching the eye of Sponsors was never an issue for him. His tributes had always at least gotten one, even if they had nothing to offer. This year though, District 10 seemed to look rather promising. Before long Jethro was planted directly behind the man, and was grateful that his helmet his wandering eyes. âSir,â the Peacekeeper began, voice disrupted by the helmetâs mic, âyou need to come with me.â And stay with me while youâre at it. Whether Robbie would realize it was him or not, heâd be taking a short trip from the premises.
Two minutes with three babbling Capitol women were enough to set Robbie on stand-by. Yeah, his hair really did look exceptional, and so did his clothes. Who had made them? This or that stylist, all the new trends, and oh, how do you like this new hair colour? Who with who and who isn't with whom anymore? Was he still single? Was he interested? Was he bored? What, what, what? If Robbie hadn't been doing this thing for so long, he'd probably be tired and without voice after those two minutes - but he had been doing this since forever, and he had learned how to talk to save himself the trouble of talking too much. Capitol women wanted to hear mysterious statements that did not at all answer their questions but sent them into a never-ending river of talking. Robbie just zoomed out of it. Smiling, nodding, running a hand through his hair and looking around the room without really seeing anything at all. What he thought about? Well, there definitely was something he thought about, but that something - or someone - shouldn't get public knowledge.
It wouldn't though, seeing as Robbie only thought and did not talk. Therefore he was a little confusedas he was pulled out of his thoughts by a rather metallic voice sounding from behind him - the first thing stopping the women around him from talking. They stared with wide eyes and pouts on their lips, because obviously no Capitol citizen having their hand on a victor wanted to let them go again so easily. Yet nobody would talk up against a peacekeeper with a gun. And Robbie surely wouldn't be the first one to do that. After throwing a brief glance towards the white uniform next to him, he offered the disappointed women around him wide smiles. "I'm so sorry. You'll excuse me for a second, right? I'll be right back to talk about that impressingly beautiful dress", he said with a wave of his hand into their direction that would probably sent them into a discussion about which of their dresses he had been talking about, where they got them, who made them, and so on.Â
His thoughts were not at all circling around their mostly ridiculous dresses. Robbie was nervous. He couldn't remember the last time he had been accompanied by a peacekeeper, to that away from a party. Had he done something wrong? Would maybe even Snow want to talk to him? Hopefully not. That would completely ruin his night. As if it hadn't been ruined enough already.
Following the peacekeeper out of the crowded and awfully loud room, Robbie's eyes unconsciously moved up and down his figure, and found himself disrupted in his panicking thoughts. He was pretty sure he knew this person. The way the man moved... could it be? Without having any sort of confirmation, Robbie felt a warm feeling spread through his chest. If the peacekeeper really was Jethro, his night just got a million times better. Unable to keep a smile from his lips, he cleared his throat once they were out of reach of the loud and vibrating music. "May I ask why I have to come with you?"
Silhouettes | Jethro & Robbie
Robbie detested Capitol parties with a fiery passion. He hated everything about it. The overflowing food, the drinks, the overheated, sweaty and drunk people, the fact that everybody only vanished into the bathrooms to throw up and keep eating and drinking, and that he had to pretend he enjoyed every single second of it.
Of course he knew he had to deal with this though - it was just one of the many disadvantages of winning the games and being a mentor. He was expected to attend the parties he was invited to, and he knew they were the best chance at getting sponsors for his tributes. The best and only chance. That was the only reason why he ever survived them, and he knew tonight he would concentrate on nothing but the fact that he had to find somebody to keep Tempest and Sebastian alive. Besides, he had survived sixteen years of this craziness. He'd surely survive another one.
He inhaled a deep breath to calm himself down as he stared at the big doors, standing white open to let everybody important and known inside - it was a blur of colours, hurtful for the eyes. Maybe the horror and hilarity of it all, such an awful mixture, was what really got him through all of this, he thought to himself as he adjusted the jacket of his suit - he had to admit it was one of the prettiest he had ever worn, a dark grey one with shimmering leather arms - and made his way through the entrance.
From one second of the next the rather quiet Capitol night turned into a big eruption of colours, sounds, and smells. He could feel the bass of the loud tunes vibrate in his chest, and could smell the mixture of fresh food, slight sweat and too much perfume. Perfect. Clenching his jaw, he inhaled another deep breath before he put his best smile onto his face, not one second too late as he suddenly found himself faced by a small group of women who batted their eyelashes and pulled their dresses down. Let the Games begin, he thought ironically to himself as their chattering voices started to drown him.
Rejecting Capitol women really isn't my favourite thing to do.
Seems to a common problem for male victors of years past.
I think the main thing you have to fear are their claws if they get really upset with you.
That statement does not at all surprise me.
Their claws, right. That's why I always try to run away before they take them out.

Rejecting Capitol women really isn't my favourite thing to do.
Oh, I see, differente tastes⌠Well, that explains why their persistence would be bothersome for you.
Well, I agree, just seeing it must be⌠Upsetting. I mean, from what Iâve seen theyâve got everything. Never even heard of a starving man in the Capitol. But⌠Well, living there has to be better than life in the Districts, right?
Everybody has their own preferences, so yeah.
A starving man in the Capitol? Not really. They have these pills and drinks so they throw up to be able to eat even more. Something that is more than upsetting coming from a district like mine. I guess it's a better life if you've grown up here, if you grew up in a District you don't really want to live here, believe me.
Rejecting Capitol women really isn't my favourite thing to do.
"Eh that must be quite hard, Iâm sorry you have to do it."
I know there's worse things. But it really gets on my nerves.
