Hi! I'm starting a new project!
ok so i've teased it already but i wasnt sure if i should post about it until i was 100% sure i would finish it. I'm feeling brave rn, and i think that posting this could keep me accountable (and help my chances of actually completing it)
Basically, i want to make a watercolour illustration for each chapter in The Lord of the Rings.
Which SOUNDS easy when i say it like that, but keep in mind there are 60+ chapters total (62 if i counted correctly). 62 full illustrations is A LOT. i want to keep them in a similar style and generally make them a full set, so there's a lot of planning that will have to go into it (i already started planning the ones for FOTR). I finished the first one (for A Long-Expected Party) and it took me 2 days from thumbnailing to finishing the painting. Granted, it's the first one and i was still unsure of how i wanted to do it, so that slowed me down quite a bit. Also i restarted it from scratch coz i hated how the first try came out. But still! It takes a long time!
Each illustration will be of an iconic scene from that chapter, or one that is important for the narrative. I'll probably pick the ones i vibe with the most, but when i'm not sure i'll probably turn to you to help me choose :))
I'll post the first part (out of 62. that's a lot.) probably tomorrow. After that, i dont guarantee i'll post regularly but i will try my best!
