everyone on riverdale can be a christ figure if you manipulate things enough. archie? habitual lamb to the slaughter. jughead? rose from the dead. easy. veronica? fated to follow the path laid out for her by her father. betty? had a serial killer dad (see: noachian flood). cheryl? denied herself life and luxury for an extended period of time as sacrifice. also started a church briefly. toni? had at least 12 friends following her lead (serpents). gay kevin? tempted by the devil

Best thing about Ladies Who Lunch is that musical numbers just happen in Riverdale that has been well established and when they do happen everyone joins in and acts like it’s something normal that just happens sometimes (because according to the rules of this world it is). But not in this scene. Suddenly it is not normal for Veronica to be having a mental breakdown and expressing it through song. Everyone reacts the way you most likely would in reality if your friend took over your other friend’s wedding rehearsal with a musical number which is with confusion but also worry. No one knows why she’s doing this. The entire laws of the world of Riverdale change so that Veronica can be a little freak weirdo and greatly embarrass herself. And I think that’s beautiful.

one of my favorite plot beats in Riverdale is in s6 when Cheryl gets possessed by Abigail, her ancestor from the 1800s. And nobody notices bc Cheryl already acts like the main character in an old gothic novel. Abigail says shit like “oh my beloved Toni, what for ails your weeping heart” and Toni just answers without a beat because that’s exactly how Cheryl would ask that. She tries to poison Betty Jughead and Archie and they’re just like “Huh! Guess she’s in a mood again. Whatever. We should maybe look into that later.” It’s like she’s been preparing herself her whole life to be the perfect stealth vessel for her tragic murderess lesbian witch ancestor. Character of all time.
