My Only Comfort is the Moving of the River

3 days of sunset at 5pm and I already feel my flesh amd bones rotting

thinking with so much love and fondness of the time i went camping with several gay men and they were all asking me curious questions about being on testosterone in my 30s and being very kind and affirming and encouraging of me which was so sweet. anyway at some point on the trip we were all whiskey drunk and ended up standing in a circle with our arms around each others' shoulders swaying back and forth singing something and then i stepped out of the circle to get a drink of water and the circle dance turned into a circle kiss where they were pecking each other on the lips one at a time and passing the kiss around like a hand-rhyme game. and one of them was like "story, you're a gay dude get in here!" and i was like "all of my love so deeply and so truly from the bottom of my heart for the gender affirmation, but i'm still a lesbian." a few of of them nodded sagely but one of them said "why would that have anything to do with it?"

Driving out to the store only to drive back through (beside) a wild fire was not exactly what I wanted to do today.

It is under control and was more of an out of control brush fire than anything but damn it is scary to be driving home into a cloud of smoke seeing a quarter-mile section of forest smoldering.

when i say i like hiking, i don’t mean “eight mile backpacking trip with special gear and an emergency beacon” sort of hiking, i mean a three mile loop to go look at pretty things and then a huge brunch after.

this is in no way a slam on hardcore hiking, it’s very fun, but i mostly just need to lower people’s expectations when i say hiking is a hobby of mine

Why I stopped going on hikes with my local hiking group was that they advertised a hike as “intermediate” which involved scaling a near 90 degree slope. I was PISSED

That’s why I love AllTrails. I love a long hike but if I see a scramble on that trail preview I’m OUT

Perhaps the only creatiure, in all the ocean, is the fish

social anxiety so bad i wonder if i’m welcome at places i was invited to.
