He's been sleeping at the manor for the last few days; snuck in through the window of the study next to the library. A purposeful blind spot. He uses the bedroom just across the hall, bed meticulously put back together the moment it's not in use. He never leaves a thing out of place. Knows which floorboards to avoid. Knows which speed to open the door without a sound, only to read at night.

Alfred knows.

Bruce pretends he doesn't.

The bats swarmed, frightened just as he was

Bruce hated to admit it, feeling too incompetent to be in the position he was to Dick and unfit to be taking care of him, but there were times where he was sure Dick understood him better than he understood himself. And instead of that working in his favor, it only distanced them further. Dick knew too much and expected too little.

That left him nothing. He was alone now more than ever.

And it was all Bruce’s fault.

Bruce Wayne Week Day 2 and Day 7: Hugs & Cuddles and New Parent

In a fleeting thought, Bruce couldn’t lie: it was a decent plan, he’ll give them that. In wanting to find amusement in the situation, he bit his tongue, resisting the urge to give them better pointers for next time. Solid execution, six outta ten. Although, maybe triple check I’m not Batman next time. A ghost of a smile crept onto his lips. It helped pass another moment. That’s all he really could do without garnering suspicion. Pass another moment until the GCPD—or most likely, one of the Birds—arrived on the scene.

But until then? Bruce was bored.
