Dude, I feel like Iâm mature enough that this year Iâve realized how stupid that Valentineâs day crap is. Like Iâm not gonna fucking lie, I still love doing romantic shit for people- but like why does it have to be Roses? Wouldnât Valentineâs Day be more romantic if you just relaxed eatinâ Chinese takeout and Drinkingâ beer? And instead of roses, you just did like⌠bouquets of pairs of cool socks? The past few times Iâve been in a relationship, Iâve been like- all out with gifts, flowers, making a nice meal. But I feel like that shit makes it even less personal? I feel like romance should be specific to the person, I dunno.
Oh, my god! Thank you. For one, I donât like roses, because thorns. Like, here take this flower that can stab you. And, yes, they cut the thorns off, but then it just feels like a lie. I prefer simpler flowers, anyways. I will say I prefer the chocolate aspect, but even then, I think itâs ridiculous to pay a buttload of money for a box of chocolates. It does make it feel less personal. Like people feel the more they spend, the more they care. Iâd rather cuddle all day on the couch, watch movies, have a good meal.Â
Exactly- like fuck, I remember spending so much money on a huge rose bouquet for a girl once, and she said is that it? Apparently roses are just like the mandatory shit, and you have to also get someone chocolates and a pretty gift and a card. Like... what? See, you totally get it. That shit is so much nicer. Means youâre actually making the effort to do something the other person likes, and spend time with them, yâknow?
