Matched my lipstick to our Phone Line materials for my last day of work. Launching the Phone Line has been one of the most challenging projects I have worked on. But it was so very worth it. Forever grateful to my fellow organizers and the best roster of volunteers a Coordinator could dream up. We made something where there was nothing and every call we've gotten, every person who has shared their story when we tell them about the Line, the relief on people's faces, every conversation we've started about assault and consent reminds me of how important this Line truly is. As a person (and femme) who lives with severe anxiety and depression I was feeling proud this morning. I got up, got dressed (often a huge source of anxiety), put on my makeup (including the dreaded liquid eyeliner), made myself breakfast (& ate it at home while it was still warm!), packed my lunch and left the house without any sort of anxiety attack/meltdown! It's important to celebrate these not-so-small "small" victories. I also know that sometimes these victories don't include getting out of bed, putting on makeup, going to work etc. and every day we simply exist (especially as@quuer and trans folks) can be victory enough. (Thanks to Jill for being so genuinely excited for me this AM). #anxiety #depression #queer #femme
