The Spring 2023 cover of Wonderland turns a nearly shared kiss into a bold, intimate fashion image. Black and white keeps the focus on touch, expression, and the closeness between the two women, while embroidered fabrics, jewellery, and the visible tattoo add texture without distracting from the moment.

The original was elegant. Someone decided it also needed evidence.

William Andrew Loomis’s Two Women is already a beautifully composed illustration, but this edited version adds a wonderfully playful twist: the lipstick marks were not part of the original artwork. They seem to have been added later, turning a quiet moment of closeness into a tiny visual joke.

The quiet theatre of getting dressed

Duncan MacRae and Florian Neuville appear in a portrait that turns a simple styling gesture into something intimate and almost ceremonial. The oversized silk bow, crisp tailoring, and controlled black-and-white light give the image a refined, slightly theatrical mood.

What makes the composition memorable is the contrast between stillness and touch: one model looks directly into the camera while the other adjusts the bow from behind. Fashion often finds a subtle queer charge in moments like this, where care, elegance, and male closeness are allowed to remain visible without explanation.
