The train is across the river and beyond the trees. I never saw it. This is recorded from a pier, jutting into the river past the marsh in Rocco Park, on the river by New Smyrna Beach.

In Bucharest there is a park full of people. Gradina Cismigiu, is known for its beauty and, as evening approaches, the roosting of its crows. First, as I sat waiting, I heard what seemed to be a single crow, cawing in groups of three, with about fifteen seconds' pause, and then another three. 'He' did this many times, and then went silent.

This performance, by Craig Hultgren, is particularly significant as many of the cello samples are culled from a recording he made of Parables, the first stage in this adventure in form.

Ever since i heard Bobby McFerrin work with this tune i wanted to have a go. Here I have attempted to bring in some fairly deep and meaningful concepts which can quite easily/happily be missed .. It's a long piece, a meditation.. it plays with past and future, it plays with emphasis and dominant notes. It plays with the obvious and the not so obvious as well as reminding us of the beautiful tune Charles Gounod added which seems as though it must have been written at the same time as the accompaniment but wasn't. It plays with the idea of improvisation in classical music and wordless vocal sounds within a Classical style. There are SO MANY ways to make music that is lovely without following perceived rules to the letter.. This was performed in a spectacular church in the City of London called St Mary Aldermary. You can hear the coffee machine and the tinkling of spoons on china and a little of the people talking. It was a busy day in the cafe at the back... people filtered in and sat and listened.. a lovely experience. I could have stopped to sort it out, however sometimes you have to let the documenting go out the window... come down next time and hear it live.. :)
