Hey everyone, while I work on my next project, I wanted to bump something I think is worthwhile.  The online journal, Zetetic: A Record of Unusual Inquiry, has started a fundraiser on Patreon.  

Zetetic is a wonderful journal that publishes unique prose and poetry that doesn’t fit the traditional mold of storytelling.  Some of the stories published on their website are absolute gems, like this one.

What they mainly want to do with the money is be able to pay contributors more for their work, and to be able to release stories more often (they currently release just two stories a week).  So whenever you donate to their cause, in a way you’re directly giving money to the authors that work very hard to get their ideas out there.  The more money Zetetic gets through this fundraiser, the more unique stories you’ll get to read online (for free, by the way).  They’re not asking for much (just giving a dollar a month can go a very long way).

So think about it, you might contribute to giving an author their first big break (like they did for me!), you’re helping artists put food on the table, and on top of all that, you’re getting fantastic (free!!) stories you won’t find anywhere else!

I found this video a while back.  It’s an incredibly powerful piece about exploration, with a really great quote from the brilliant Carl Sagan.  It also has been a great inspiration for a bit of writing I’ve been working on recently.

After getting over the joy of having my first short story published, it’s time to get cracking on my next project.  There are a few stories I plan on writing over the summer, but the one that’s in the immediate future is currently called ‘The Othersider.’  It’s a science fiction piece about a young girl who’s learning to embrace her curiosity.  Along the way she runs into a strange woman who may hold the answers to her questions.  Here’s an excerpt from what’s been written so far:

I’m really looking forward to getting this story out there, because I think there aren’t nearly enough stories that encourage young girls to embrace their inner scientist.

I received an email yesterday informing me that one of my short stories will be published in the online literary journal, Zetetic: A Record of Unusual Inquiry!
