And this>>>
Wip!!
Grabbing people by the scruff of their necks and shaking them. You know Jax being a terrible person was the point right. That she pushed everyone away despite having all the opportunity to be better.
It's meant to be tragic. That even after all that she realized she wanted to change as her last words and thoughts. She didn't want to go.
It's okay I understand this is baby's first nuance.
jax i need you to lock tf in
I like to think she is as conflicted as I am.

I love the aquarium and everything it represents. I love how the dark smooths out the jagged edges of the Abstracted. How the water turns their panicked lumbering into smooth and graceful swimming. How they are keeping what I assume are Jax, Kaufmo, and Ribbit together, and how it's clearly a place they visit often to speak to them.
Everyone knows the trope of the Madwoman in the Attic. That the thing to do with an incurably mentally ill person is to lock them away where they can stop being so noisy and distracting and disturbing. Anyone who has been institutionalized or even been mentally ill enough that the institution was a possibility has dealt with the specter of the Madwoman: the idea that one day, people will decide they're done feeling sorry for you, so they're gonna get rid of you and don't care how badly you get hurt as long as it's quiet. Caine used the cellar as the Attic. He didn't care about helping the Abstracted at all, the fact that the dark helps calm them is a happy coincidence. He just needed them gone. They're too loud, too disruptive, so just tidy them away and forget. Out of sight, out of mind. Quiet.
The Abstracted are loud and flashy and violent. There is no reason to believe they can be cured. They are dangerous to help, and there's very little the Players can do to help anyway. But instead of just cutting their losses and locking them away, the Players went out of their way to do what little they could. Zooble sacrificed their whole stash of arms to take Jax somewhere safer. They built homes that would ease their pain, experimented to find what environment would be best for them and their unique needs. They still go to visit them, even if it might be personally painful. Just on the off chance that the Abstracted might find comfort in their presence.
The cellar is convenience at the cost of compassion. The aquarium is compassion at the cost of convenience. No, we can't save you, or heal you. But we will ease what pain we can, and we will never abandon you. Because as difficult and broken and dangerous as you are, you are still worth it. You are still loved.

Don’t worry guys, Jax is enjoying the afterlife (Fortnite)
how i predict ribbit felt after the argument + right up to her abstraction
I think Vox tells people he's from New York but he starts sweating when somebody asks about it. I think he'd like to talk about the glitz and glamor of NYC but everyone is like. Are you SURE. He talks like he knows it, at least the version of new york a well-to-do white fellow would know, but he's also a liar and a poseur. He might not have been to nyc until later in life OR never at ALL. But nobody can know that. He's probably like. pennsylvania dutch or something. Just barely creeping into the appalachia and I think it kills him that he's not from big fancy new york

A detail I absolutely LOVED in Obsession was the music cutting out whenever the real Nikki came out. It was like the audience was waking up with her.
nikki begging bear to kill her and all he does is ask whats so bad about being with him. one of the most nauseating scenes ive ever witnessed
I genuinely appreciate how obsession doesn't try to frame bear as morally grey but just fully leans into how deplorable he is. a lesser movie would have tried to give him redeeming moments along the way but no, at every single crossroads bear makes the wrong choice. when the customer service rep asks him if he wants to cancel his wish, he says no, and asks to alter it. when nikki, the real one, begs him to kill her, he asks her "if it would be so bad to love him", and right at the end, backs out of killing himself and tries to throw the pills up. he is the villain, not another victim, not a confused, cowardly boy, the villain.
there’s something so gutwrenching about the fact that the female characters in obsession have real dreams and wishes but never get the chance to see them realized, while both male characters waste their wishes on short-term selfish satisfaction. they were complex, free-spirited young women who just wanted to create art, and they were destroyed by a man determined to confine them to his superficial perception of them. nikki wanted to be a writer, sarah wanted to be a tattoo artist and now neither of them will get to be anything at all
it's funny to me that while toy story 5 is going on and bonnie is having trouble making friends, andy is probably like two states away and going through hell on earth on indeed.com

triangle IS CANONICALLY AND EXPLICITLY A GAY BAR. which MEEEEEEANS
IN ALL LIKELIHOOD, JAX IS OUT TO HER FRIENDS!
this is my copium fr
Actually. Yeah. Pretty much.
But to extend the metaphor a bit further, Imagine Caine is a person living isolated in the middle of nowhere without internet. He's desperately lonely, so he raises a bunch of ducks he captures from a nearby lake because they are his favorite animal.
The Ducks keep dying. He does not know why. The ducks peck at him whenever he tries to pet them. He does not know why. He tries to build the best possible coop for them, but they keep plucking their own feathers from stress.
He loves them, but no matter what he does, no matter what he tries, the ducks are miserable and keep dying and want nothing to do with him. But he doesn't want to let them go, he has nothing else in his life. He has nobody else in his life.
Now the metaphor breaks down when you remember the humans can actually talk to Caine, unlike ducks. But honestly that only would help so much, Caine had pretty much zero context to comprehend most of the things the humans talked about as being important to them.
Caine pretty much saw most of the human's complaints as being a case of Preferences rather than "I need things to change so I don't abstract from the stress". And given Caine does not really understand things like nuance and Unspoken Meanings, he was not going to get that unless somebody spelled it out for him directly in those terms (Caine my beloved AuDHD disaster dentures).
Caine literally had to Google humans in their natural habitat before he had even an inkling of what they were actually upset about.
Caine isn't innocent, he was very self-absorbed and at times willfully ignorant. But a lot of the harm he inflicted was genuinely born of true ignorance and inability to comprehend. Really, his main problem was he arrogantly thought he knew best and thus it didn't occur to him that he was far more ignorant than he realized he was.
And the thing is, he did listen and TRY to give the humans what they wanted. The issue is, humans are complicated beasts who don’t always know what we want. Zooble feels uncomfortable in their body? Bam, they can make their body whatever they want, problem solved! What do you mean they’re still complaining. I did literally everything for you. You complained about not liking the kind of bread I gave you so I let you eat any kind of bread in the world and you’re still upset. What.
