My housemate seems like sheās much younger than me. Thereās been a lot of communication issues. I arranged a mediated house meeting to get things figured out AND on record.
She insisted that the thermostat should be set to heat, no matter how many times the mediator and I brought up the heatwave; and reluctantly agreed to 72 degrees Fahrenheit (she wanted 75 at first).
Not even a full day, she left in the morning, came back late afternoon. I (and her cat) were roasting all day, she decided to just turn the thermostat to 66 degrees Fahrenheit because āsuddenlyā the heat was too high.
I set it back to what was agreed, told her that I reset it to the agreed temperature, reminded her that she had wanted it HOTTER. And then she asks why did you change it back? I didnāt agree to that. My cat is suffering, how dare you.
Iām fine to change the agreement before the next meeting. I contacted the mediator immediately after noticing her mess with the thermostat.
The fact that an hour of back and forth, saying how hot itāll be, trying to convince her to have the cold air for this week and weāll regroup the next weekā¦she didnāt think of her cat then.
Itās so angering. She doesnāt want consequences and acts like Iām cruel because Iām holding her accountable. She wants to keep turning the heat to near 80 degrees Fahrenheit or cold to near 65 degrees Fahrenheit depending on her comfort.
But is that just how 20 or something year olds behave now? Maybe she legitimately didnāt understand that 100 degrees is scorching, even after discussing that itās scorching?
