When you close one eye, you see nothing through that eye (not even black). But when you close both eyes, you see black

i.e. why when you or someone else gets stabbed or impaled, you should leave the object in the wound until medical help arrives.

Maybe dogs destroy shoes because they see humans always need them before they leave the house.
