Ren Hunter

"Yes, yes they are that dumb." She said and looked at Ren. "And I know, but the last thing I am going to do is waste my breath arguing with someone that is that stupid."

Ren laughed, shaking his head in disbelief. "You know what? Fair enough." He lifted his hands in surrender. "Some arguments are just a lost cause from the start." A grin tugged at the corner of his lips. "I mean, if seeing Earth from space isn't convincing enough, I'm not sure what else anyone could possibly show them."

"I feel like Gossip Girl always has something planned, and it's honestly just...kind of annoying." He laughed. "How are you doing, Ren?"

Ren let out a quiet laugh, shaking his head. "Yeah, she's got a talent for making sure nobody gets a moment of peace." He took another sip of his drink before glancing back at him. "Me?" He asked and smiled. "I'm doing alright. Work's been keeping me busy, but that's nothing new. Can't complain too much. How about you? Surviving all the chaos?"

"I used to go, but yeah, life just got too busy, the podcast, personal life, and everything else." He said with a shrug. "Yeah, and I think that events like Coachella have become so...over saturated, you know?"

Ren chuckled softly. "You're not wrong. Somewhere along the way it stopped feeling special." He rested his arm against the back of his chair. "Now it feels like everyone goes for the photos, the sponsorships, and the social media posts." He replied and shrugged. "Honestly, I think I'd rather spend a quiet weekend sleeping than fight my way through a crowd of fifty thousand people."

"Yeah, but as annoying as they are, they do tend to boost our economy." Nate said witha shrug. "I'm doing good, doing a lot of good for the city, and I couldn't be more stressed out, but proud at the same time, you know?"

"That's a fair point, sir." Ren replied and looked at him. "You're out there dealing with every possible problem before it becomes a disaster. It takes a certain kind of person to handle that much pressure and still show up every day. You should be proud. Not many people can say they do half the good you do for this city."

"Because Coachella is ridiculously expensive for no reason, we don't have the extra funds for that." She shrugged. "Of course she did, when doesn't she post about something? Even if it's a lie."

"Oh absolutely. It's probably ridiculously priced now, no argument there. I would just come for the music." Ren nodded his head in agreement. "Last time I went, I didn't have to pay. My stepfather tends to send tickets or VIP invites to everything just as an excuse to try and connect or whatever." He added and shrugged. "She's really annoying, what are we celebrities? It might affect my reputation as a police detective."

"I think going for the free food and drinks is the reason anyone goes to her parties, it's not like anything actually happens during them anyways." He shrugged. "And aren't you a PI? You can't really judge anyone for being in someone's personal life or personal space." He joked.

"Might as well enjoy it, I'll think of it as her payment for my mom teasing me about the posts that were written about me recently." Ren shot his head back and laughed. "Oh, you must've mixed things up. I'm actually a police detective and not a PI though I would say it's almost similar but I investigate crimes instead of people."

"Aww thank you, Ren. I appreciate you wanting to slap a weirdo for me." She smiled. "I've been doing good." She said with a nod. "Yeah, I mean, work is just kind of boring, but that's typical." She laughed. "How is that going?"

"No problem, I'm always happy to help. Some men in this city really lack basic decency and respect." Ren replied and smiled at her. "Good, I'm glad to hear that. Well, I've just been digging into the case, finding some discrepancies and talking to the witnesses. So far, I haven't found any leads just yet."

"I don't know, he probably was, but I don't care." She said with a shrug. "Good, then let's go and drink and have some fun."

"I'm guessing he's not exactly up to par with your type or he's a total himbo." Ren told her and laughed. "My treat then, I get it. I actually dated someone new but she's just not my type. I don't generally like someone who begs for free food just because she's an influencer. And she was so demanding about it, she acted like she was a food critic."

"Neither do I, I would never understand why she does what she does. It's definitely someone who peaked in high school, I'll tell you that much." Ren shook his head and chuckled. "How are you liking the city so far? If you need someone to tour you around and show you the best places, I'm your guy. I've lived here almost my entire life."

"Nothing will ever beat the drinks that Pyrthian and the fae have, but this drink is pretty damn close, so kudos to the bartender for that." @ggstarterblog

Ren tilted his head and drank from his own drink. "Is that where you're from? What's it like there? I still can't comprehend that there's supernatural beings living in this city. I mean I still haven't even moved on from you guys existing." He replied and laughed.

"What in the actual fuck is Coachella?" She raised a brow at Ren. "It sounds truly awful, if you ask me, so no, I'm not too worried about that I missed it."

"That's weird, I thought everyone knew about Coachella." Ren replied to her and laughed. "It's just this music festival in the desert where a lot of famous artists perform." He added. "What have you been up to lately?"

"No, I don't do Coachella nor do I go out unless I have to." He looked at Ren. "Doesn't bother me that I missed it." He added. "How about you? You sad you missed it or is it just another weekend for you?"

"Makes sense, why go out in a hot crowded place in your free time when you can relax at home. I get your point." Ren replied and gave his friend a smile. "I heard you're booked and busy with a lot of projects. How is it going?" He asked and looked at him. "Yeah, it's just another weekend for me. I'm busy with a new case."

"Nah, I don't do Coachella." He said with a chuckle and looked at Ren. "Haven't done it in a long time. You sad you missed it or anything?"

"Figures, I feel like you're not really the type to go to Coachella. You busy with your podcast, mate?" Ren asked with a smile. "Not really but I would've gone just for fun if I was free. Even police officers deserve a break but of course, justice prevails over everything."

"At least there's less influencers and tourists in town." Ren replied and chuckled. "Same here, my work is more important than a mere festival anyway." He said and took a bite of his pancake. "I'm good, busy as always with cases. How about you, Mayor Archibald?"

"no, no, no, i stopped going to coachella years and years ago. i grew out of the phase forever ago." she laughed. "how are you doing, ren?"

"Ah, I should've known. Of course, our job would always be more important than Coachella. Speaking of that, thanks for sending the evidence for the case I'm working on." Ren replied with an appreciative smile. "Well, I'm fine but I'm still working my ass off to get justice for my father. So far, not going really great but I'll be asking questions to possible witnesses. I want to prove his innocence even if he's gone."
