I think what’s more creepily imperialistic is the reaction of everyone in Narnia to the Pevensies.

This is why people recommending them as a “less problematic alternative” to Harry Potter drives me INSANE. And I don’t even dislike the books or anything but… have you even read them at all recently, or just like looked at a summary on Wikipedia for that matter? Everything problematic about Harry Potter is magnified tenfold in the Narnia books, and then some. Again, I don’t think they’re bad books and I am generally not a fan of saying “children shouldn’t read this” but it’s just bizarre to say that the alternative to the modern low fantasy with some troubling (but likely unintentional) choices of worldbuilding and imagery should be a book series from midcentury that is imperialist and Islamophobic and misogynistic in a way that is like integral to its actual themes, written by a dude who was famous for his Christian apologetics
