It initially bothered me how much people in universe explain shit to Rimuru when, also as a thing that exists there, he should know the thing. I handwaved it as being so the viewer can understand.
Then i realized.
Heās a slime.
Everyoneās explaining shit because they assume heās literally v new to having conscious thought. Like, slimes that can think donāt happen very often, and i assume when they do they donāt have context.Ā Like on the goblinsā part, theyāre probably humoring him initiallyāsince they comment on thinking heās just hiding in the form of a slimeā but then accept that no, he just a jiggle boi. thereās no braincells, just slime. So they explain.
Everyone else is probably thinking the same thing to some extent, thus the confusion about his whole deal. Like, power level comments aside, a slime is just literally the same cell, many times, multitasking. Thatās why they donāt sleep, they just transfer whatās acting as a brain around their goop and keep eating things. Thereās no central nervous tissue, and just.. generally not room for anything people would assume is enough brain to be smart.
Which is a delightful realization, because it means that in order for Rimuru to still have his Ego rolling around the slime on a biological level, his cells are basically galaxy brained the whole time. Which adds even more reasons why he can physically handle Great Sage and Raphael and so onā¦ doing things like altering time perception in his head and so on.Ā
Its also fun because that means when he forces elongated time perception on someone else, like Clayman for example, all THEIR brain can do is scream panic signals because it physically cannot handle that much input that fastā and it has to, because itās forced to process it instead of filtering it out.Ā
Basically i started atĀ āpeople just probably assume Rimuru is new to the whole thinking and knowing things thingā and ended up withĀ āRimuru could kill someone from neural shock and stimulus overload without having to eat or physically wound someone, in theoryā
