Probably the last devlog style post I do here, at least for now, since I am making progress slower than I want (this is also why I didn't post last month-), even though I know why, I'm struggling to stay focused for long periods still. I'm going to instead make posts when I get a decent amount of progress done, with the next hopefully being a complete or at least more complete Ruins.

Got most of the terrain done, just need to get in the rocks/cavern itself and get textures on the buildings, plus all the other set dressing (I've still got all of the assets done for that, but going to fix them up a bit when I finish the terrain itself).

I've also been rethinking the story a bit, or at least telling it, since getting an animation done will take a while still, so I'm thinking of making a comic of Mosiacverse, which would have been the last and connecting one, and get around to the other stories as animations when I can. I need to think about this more (and plan out however I do go about this).

I still never really know how to start these, so I'm just going to continue straight to what I've been doing: Early to mid December I was still struggling to get much work done, mostly focusing on finishing school work, but I have since been getting more work done again!

This year (2026) I will hopefully have a bit more time, along with pushing myself more to stay focused and on track, although I will need another job soon so that may eat into my time a little, but we'll see when I get there.

I've mostly been working on the shader and updating the assets, getting through a few of the categories. I'm aiming to get all of the Ruin's assets done, along with trying to get the Ruins done as a whole by the end of January, which I believe I can do so long as I can stay focused-

While I've still struggled to get back on Path of Another, I have been able to get work done on the InSilence script, getting the first two chapters to a final draft, and I'm going to see how well I can work on them alongside the Ruins.

Getting quite a bit into the Ruins, I'm going to focus this month on getting the cavern around it done, along with getting some more decorations and set dressing around. I am pretty sure I can get the Ruins done by the end of the year. I've also just been making changes to some areas, like how there is a massive lake there, and getting a few pretty views into the area.

As I was starting the draft for Path of Another (the extra story I was hopefully going to have fully drafted by this month), I realised that a good chunk of it doesn't make sense, basically reversing character development and events, so I need to take it back a bit to figure that out... fun.

I also kinda just mentally-blocked a bit on the last few days of october (and first few of november), so made pretty much no progress.

Every time I feel like I am both getting better, and still making no progress... fun times. I managed to make a bit of progress on writing but also found that I need to revise the written story... :)

The Ruins are also coming along, slowly but surely, getting the main path pretty much laid out and now onto Toriel's home, and starting to take notes of changes I need to make.

I also decided to try and get a small environment done in a week. I do have animated versions but Tumblr won't accept them-

As you can see, it's the Anti-Void! I like how it's turned out, still have a few things to fix but it's all good otherwise (and those are a lil above my skill level right now, so I may leave that until later). I'll want to make a few proper renders of it in the future, probably with Error and updated assets, but that will be in the future- I still need to work on the Sans model, I continue to not like it but I currently have a few too many things for my mind to focus on (which I'm kind of getting better at), though may have a plan for that and how to focus on work from now on.

I've mostly finished sans' skeleton (just need to clean up weight painting and uvs/textures), going to make his clothes first then make Papyrus next. Enjoy this mildly cursed image of him (not full body since he has no clothes).

I've gotten most of the Ruins' environment models pass 1 done, which is focused on the designs of the models with a basic texture (colour), pretty much just need some furniture and buildings. The shader also needs more work, but for now I'm just slowly tweaking it occasionally. Once these are done, hopefully early September, I'll be laying everything out in the Ruins, and will note and make any changes needed.

Pretty much finished planning out my next story for Wattpad, and have started writing out a draft to better solidify that plan, which I'm aiming to get done by the end of the month, and maybe start posting next month (so long as I do get it done...). While working on this I also realised that I prefer this method compared to the way I was writing InSilence (which was more of a script formatting), so I'll likely try writing it up in a similar way at some point after the draft.

sans' skeleton model is coming along somewhat well, I did want to have it rigged by now but welp. Should just need one more sculpt and can be rigged then, and then I'll either make Papyrus' model or do clothes for sans (aka a bunch of AU designs).

I have started on the models for the Ruins, which I'm aiming to get decently done and lay them out to make sure they all work well. I was focusing on the sans model for the first two weeks of the month and shared that focus when the school holidays ended.

The InSilence script is still far behind where I want it to be, however I've also looked at it and have decided that since it needs to be done by the time the models are done (so I can animate it), I can take my time a bit with it and divert some focus, which comes to the next two stories, both of which are written(typed ig-). The second one will be a rewrite of the original story, keeping it somewhat with the original design, but fixing it up to be better written and more in touch with the current state of my disassociating this story(s) a bunch over the past few years... and the first one will be a new story that is set after the events of the animations. Two things I had learned from the original story (and continuing to try afterwards and failing as well-), is to: properly plan out the story, not just an idea of what happens, but actually go through it in a simplified but thorough detail/story of events, which is where I am currently at. and the second is that I won't have a weekly schedule, or likely any except my own goals, as that tends to make me rush them out, and can divert attention from other work.

Going pretty decently, still not up to where I wanted to be, but getting there. The greybox of the underground environment is done (as can be seen above, although that image is slightly old / a few changes), and the plan to get the story planned out in an idea board is going. I have been noting down ideas and laying out story beats for the stories, mostly Trailing, and spent most time bringing InSilence in detail into the board, which I feel is also just a better way to do it, and the others will likely be brought up to this level slowly.

Like I said, a lot more detail, which I started doing since I was struggling to make any progress when trying to summarize events for it. Also got a few more of the character sketches done, so now the list looks like this:

Still... kinda cursed but that's how it goes lol (also have a couple more cursed images from this :3), and did a bit of work on various songs, so got a couple more that I kinda like, and two that idk where they'll go but I like them-

That's been most of it for the month, goal for next month is to focus on the sans skeleton model (again, but actually get it done this time) and get the InSilence board done, maybe some more planning into the other stories, and try to get more of these character sketches done. (edit: Also going to begin focusing more on the Ruins later in the month, with going over the assets made earlier and working on more for the area.)

There's quite a few creative liberties throughout here to try and get some parts to work, or were just funny and made sense.

Taking a step back from the model references to do a more basic reference of the characters, mainly to get an easier look at and notes of their designs, along with making sure they are scaled nicely with each other.

These are all still sketches, with sans still in progress and a couple others not started, and I'm going to do another run after, I am just first making sure their general proportions are good. This has led to some funny notes like Toriel's mouth looking way to big lol. After the Undertale characters are done I will begin working on AU designs, pretty much just building off of these ones again.

And finally, InSilence's script got to a pretty good stage, but a few things still feel off so I'm going to bring it a step back to be in the same state as I'm doing the rest of them now, which is first as an idea board on Obsidian, getting down all of the story ideas and building off of that a bit before getting into scripting properly, which is probably a step I should have done but I had skipped it since I already knew what I wanted to do, but didn't have it written down anywhere.

This is the board for Evershifting, too zoomed out to actually show anything (don't want many spoilers anyway), but it's a decent show of how the laying out works. some look longer, but are just more broken up, or rather have more detail in them.

And for June I should be able to get the Underground Greybox done, Undertale character references done, and begun on AU references, and hopefully most of the stories laid out in idea boards (Basically just finishing off what's been shown here I guess lol).

I had an issue with one of the core concept/theme/ideas of In Shadows We Live, which I have had an idea on how to fix that which has been noted (solely realized by the current uni assessment lol), and is ready to be expanded on more at some point.

Anyways!, Finally got the InSilence script done!, and got more through the character references but still got a ton more to do.

The other thing I've done is start to block out the environments, getting the Ruins and Snowdin grey-boxed. I had previously finished the Ruins one, which did lead to me learning a bit of Blender's limits, however it had to be restarted after reworking how I'm going to make these (partly due to that experience-)

I've had to utilize some of my "creative liberties" to help make some parts of this actually work, as well as just some things I feel make sense or make it feel nicer (at least to me), such as the actual game path being dug out into the ground, letting monsters watch as any human travels to the end, along with Home actually being built around the path, rather than extending out after it, since it felt nicer with how much space there was.

I also uploaded a short animation test early March for the art style and little test of animating in Blender, though it needs work, it does work as intended which I guess is good (flows to quickly and needs better camera framing for two).

Still a bit behind but still making progress, the InSilence script is almost done, just has one chapter left then it should be good. I've started working on models and environments again, and I am almost done with the sans references.

Kinda scattered this month, worked on the script and a handful of references. I have a better direction for what to work on now, and while I didn't properly set any previously, I actually have goals for next month, which if I can achieve means I'll have a little something to properly show off!

Didn't get too much done this month, but have started planning out 2025, so I have plans for how goals will be set.

I didn't get what I wanted done this year, however I did come to understand some limitations, drawbacks, and workaround for working, so hopefully next year it'll go much better! I don't think i'll get anything released next year, but I am instead aiming to be completely ready by 2026, meaning I can then go straight into animation. I don't doubt I still have more to learn, especially with how long it'll take me to actually animate, and how long parts of development will take, but I am aiming to try and get better with… myself I guess.

I also don't think I've properly 'announced' the story/ies, so I will need to make a post for that at some point lol. I do also have some other ideas for posts, but we'll see about them when I get to them.

All around, not too much progress was really made, mostly just on script and starting to learn some of Blender's geometry node system earlier this month.

One of the main things I 're-learned' is that I need to properly plan out/work on things in an order, so I have been laying out a HacknPlan and Trello boards to try and properly plan out what to do, as well as properly working on references. I say 're-learned' because this is stuff I already learned, but for some reason didn't properly follow them, so now I am trying to make sure I do, and stop skipping steps I normally (even accidentally) would where I can.

The end of the year is nearing, and while I know what 2025 will (hopefully) look like for me, I'll wait till next month to share my goals for it, but it'll largely just be prep for 2026.

Chaos/Tale. I have learned Blender basically has a limit of just over 65k objects in a scene, and because of how modular I was working with, lead to it breaking (I also learned I was terrible at research, cause I couldn't find anything about the issue after a few hours of searching, but a friend found it after like 10 minutes-) Luckily I have most of the layout of the Ruins known, I just need to rebuild it, where I am currently working on building variants for it (and New Home / similar areas that can use the buildings). And Thankfully there are ways around it (like through linking scenes). Also started on a few animation tests, getting a little effect for Fatal_Error, and trying to learn geometry nodes for Nightmare's goop. Hopefully I can get a few clips of them for the next update! Did a bit more work on the InSilence script, cleaning it up to be more detailed/refined.

In Shadows We Live. Not much happened this month, mainly just cleaning up the GDD and references (also just adding reasons to play games, but I still need to actually play them lol).

Minecraft Series. Got to episode 6, and while I am running out of recorded clips, I have also realised that continuing will require me to spend more time than I am willing to contribute to continue this schedule, which I think is part of why I stopped other series/playthroughs, as I have many ideas that I want to build, but they requre the time that I want to put elsewhere (Chaos/Tale). I am considering making a creative world, speed build series, that would have a monthly schedule instead, but not i'm not sure. I'm still going to finish editing the current episode, and make a final one, but yea.

Chaos/Tale. Mostly finished the Art Bible, leaving only a few slides at the end (Still a chance to add more characters/locations though, so never truly finished until the end). Made a lot of progress in building up the Ruins, and the assets related to it (that will be used a lot in it, and in other areas). I made a lot of progress with building up Home, but idk if the file got corrupted, or if it was too many objects for my pc, but selecting things started breaking suddenly, but after a bit of research, I'm now working on it in a way that should hopefully be better in the future as well :) This also led to me learning more about how to use Blender, especially with working with multiple scenes/files. ~Modularity~

Also made this concept sketch of what the surface could be like, might be a bit too big lmao.

In Shadows We Live. Just worked on the GDD pretty much, cleaning it up mostly, and looking at games to play/replay for inspiration (also being a further excuse to buy and play them lmao).

Chaos/Tale. Got a little bit of work done on the Profile Sheets done, and expanded on an Art Bible more, which mostly involved listing and gathering references for AU Characters that will appear, and for some environments inside of a general Undertale Universe. The main progress from this month was in beginning to build the Undertale Environment/Map in Blender, which will likely be used often, as well as models that are being used to build it, and can be used to build other environments for the story. I managed to complete an outline for the entire Undertale path, and mark out how the greater Underground area will look, and started building up the Ruins, getting the walls of the first few rooms done.

In Shadows We Live. This was a 'small', mainly outline of a game that I made for a game jam, and after taking a break from it for this month, I have decided I am, at least to some extent, going to continue working on it. To what extent? We'll see. For now I only intend to continue fleshing it out, figuring out what would happen in it, locations, etc.

Minecraft Survival Series. I've tried to do a few series, but kept getting sick of recording (? I think that explains it well enough), due to only letting myself play if I can record, which previously was harder to do with limited storage space, however with the HDD this shouldn't be an issue. This series is both because I want to have a Minecraft series, but also for some basic editing practice (especially with Davinci Resolve which I'm trying out now), and to try and keep an upload schedule.
