In other news, apparently Mitch McConnell is at death's fuckin door.
You know what to do, people.
Everyone in my notes right now:
I am NOT wishing for him to die.
I wish he'd died twenty or thirty years ago when it would've made more of a difference.
But I'll take what I can get.
adhd paralysis sucks bcuz im just sitting there and my brain is like

I wish depression were an emergency. I wish someone could take one look at how sick I am and go “oh my god, we need to get you to a hospital!” and then when we get there I get rushed into surgery and the surgeons say “it’s a good thing you brought her here when you did, this is a seriously advanced case” and then they put me under and spend the next ten hours pulling metres of long, sticky black strands of gunk out of my body, throwing it immediately into an incinerator so that it can’t infect anyone else. And then they could stitch me back up and I could rest a few days, and when I leave the hospital everyone can see how much better I am and they congratulate me saying “well done, you’ve been so brave, I’m so glad you’re ok. I love you.”

Hey, we’re in line for some absurd temperatures here in the southwest this week. This is very important to know and keep in mind. Be safe, stay hydrated, stay out of the sun as much as you can.
For my fellow Europeans south of us who are currently suffering from extreme heat. Stay safe!
I’d also like to add this
Additional you can also put them on your palms, also, make sure to always use a light towel or kitchen paper and don’t put the ice bags directly onto your skin!
Also to anyone taking antidepressants/SSRI’s/SNRI’s/ADHD Stimulants/Antipsychotics please be aware that these medications may cause you to be even more sensitive to heat!
If you’re on any medications, it might be a good idea to look up if it has any impact on your heat tolerance so you can be prepared. Here’s a link to the CDC.gov page on heat and medications if you want to learn more.
it’s just one of those croissant days
we love a recovery
A cat is a machine that turns proteins into violence.
#Helios was declawed by his former owners so he doesn't just slap things he dislikes like most cats#he really only feels confident in hissing at them#Especially because a lot of the thing he doesn't like are bugs and those are sharp sometimes :(#Selene has figured this out and now when she hears him hiss she sprints over the kill the fuck out of the bug#Helios has learned she will do this so he'll hiss at stuff louder and louder until she hears him#A nervous old man and his emotional support homicidal maniac tags by @gallusrostromegalus
I couldn't reblog without the tags because the context is hilarious

It's freaky how the brain will just plasticly learn novel motor output interfaces on the fly. It's almost like instead of hard coding a control scheme for anatomy that changes every few million years the strat that brains went for was to be openly reconfigurable to fit around whatever its nerves seem to be hooked up to via observed feedback.
I think they've done tests on this by getting people to pilot novel bodies in VR. But you don't tend to notice it day to day until something weird happens like just now. I was reading a paper book and it had a line of text blacked out as if redacted. Instinctively I go to move my cursor over the black line to see if I can read any text if I highlight it.
Except it's a book and not my computer screen, so the cursor my brain thinks it's moving across my field of vision in front of me doesn't exist. At the same time, my right hand is making a bunch of small involuntary movements next to me. I didn't intend to move it and didn't even notice it was moving until I saw it with my eyes. What I intended to move was my Cursor, something that my brain had learned to understand that it has, and the way it moves this is by actuating the muscles in my right arm, an action that is entirely disconnected from any intent to move my arm, which is a different thing.
I love being a pattern atop this eldritch mess of neurons, it's great
father I cannot click the book
The very first time I saw an iPod with the pinch-swipe interface, a coworker had brought it into the office. We all oohed and ahhed and played with it for a few minutes and agreed that it was fun and fantastic. I probably had it in my hands for a total of three minutes.
I sat down at my desk. I had two monitors at the time. I wanted to move something from Monitor 2 to Monitor 1.
I reached up to swipe the item down.
Remember, nobody had touchscreens at that point. This was an entirely new way to interact with stuff on the screen. And my brain clicked over in less than five minutes.
when you say something awkward and stupid in a social situation that probably no one will remember except you for the rest of time
