Genji finds the clan overbearing, their morals wrong and their expectations not aligning with who he wants to be. He wants to leave but Hanzo and Kiriko needs him here. He thinks he's in the right, that they should align their standards to him. He is, partially, but in the end he's hurting the people he cares about.

And Hanzo fears the clan, the people there, the elders, his father. Every action Genji takes effects him, effects his family and their status within the clan. He can't have Genji leave either, without him what more would he have? Every person he knows aligns with the clan, he said it himself, they have their eyes on everything.

Not to mention it's clear he was self deprecating even before the incident, which is awesome

The line where Genji says Hanzo calls him selfish struck me so badly... because he is in a way selfish, every action he takes and every misbehavior weighs on them all, I don't think he realized that as quickly as he probably should've.

Hanzo probably felt so betrayed that he said he thought about leaving, leaving Hanzo behind after everything they've been through and after all the hits he took for him. (As shown by him making an excuse to Sojiro)
