Oooh you would? If you find it difficult, donât force yourself. I know what itâs like with things we havenât played or seen. Then, can I request some good old fluff between Pharah (aka Fareeha Amari) and a female reader?
âFareeha? Fareeha, Iâm coming in.â
You wait for only a second, even though you know there will be no response. Youâre correct; ten seconds pass in which silence is the only thing given back to you, and so you do exactly as you said and push the door open, stepping into the office with your shoulders drawn back and your breath still slightly shaky.
In your hand you hold a plate of food - simple things. Vegetables, a bit of protein, anything to keep her on her feet during a time in which she is running herself ragged with forms and weaponry and training. She wants to be the best. No matter how many times you tell her that she is, she refuses to believe it.
She is sat at her desk now, hunched over a pile of paperwork that you had seen her with earlier on when youâd come to check on her. Even then sheâd barely looked up at you, too busy reading and rereading each and every line on the page, scribbling tiny little notes in red pen. Her dark hair is pinned back, only her bangs hanging down which she shoves behind her ear every few seconds.
You creep up to her side and place the plate of food on the edge of the mahogany desk. She glances at it, tries to quirk her lips into an acknowledging smile, but it falls short and youâre left standing there, looking like an idiot.
You fold your hands in front of you and sigh. âDo you wanna watch a movie tonight?â
âCanât.â She always says it so fast, as if sheâs expecting you to invite her out, as if she already has the answer ready before youâve even asked. âI have some things to fix on my jump jet. I canât ignore it.â
âRight,â you mumble. âIt canât wait till tomorrow? Iâll even help you in the morning if itâs that serious.â
For the first time tonight, Fareeha glances up at you. âI donât think youâll understand what needs to be done.â
âFareeha, I fix your weapons all the bloody time-â
âBut this is my jump jet,â she says, as if that somehow disproves every single piece of weaponry youâve ever mended. âJust leave it to me, alright? You donât have to worry.â She leans forward, presses a soft kiss to your cheek before pulling away and going back to her paperwork.
Itâs not really anger you feel, but something similar. It simmers beneath your skin, and you have to bite down in your attempts to hold it off. This is just how Fareeha is; her sense of justice is incredible. Her need to be doing something is beyond anything youâve ever seen, and it was this that made you fall in love with her all them years ago - sometimes, though, you wished the would just give you a tiny bit of the attention you give to her.
You sit down on the sofa across from her desk and fold your arms over your chest, eyeing her warily. You know for a fact that Fareeha can never, ever ignore your gaze - thatâs one of her weak points, and sheâs always chastising you about it.
âYou know I canât concentrate when youâre looking at me like that.â
You bat your eyelashes. âLike what? Iâm not looking at you any differently than how I usually would.â
She slips her bottom lip between her teeth, her tanned knuckles going a little lighter around the pen. âY/NâŠâ
âHonestly, Fareeha, Iâm just sitting here.â
Fareeha leans back, setting the pen down on the stack of papers. âWhatâs the matter?â
âI literally just bought The Incredibles 2 on DVD and youâre not even gonna watch it with me.â
She closes her eyes, an exasperated sigh slipping past her lips that has you grinning from ear to ear because you know itâs the sound of victory. âI have paperwork to finishâŠâ
âYou also have all day tomorrow and the day after to get it done,â you reply. You stand up, grab her hand and wrap your fingers around hers. For a minute, she keeps up the stubborn act by now reciprocating the hand holding, her fingers limp in your own. All it takes is one glance at your face for her to grumble incoherent curse words under her breath and finally grip your hand back.
You grin. âLook, Iâll even make us something to eat. I think you need to relax a little bit, Fareeha. Youâve been running yourself into the ground again, and itâs not a good thing to see.â
âIâm not running myself into the ground.â
You lean down, press a kiss to her lips that startles her just enough to flinch back. You raise a brow, and itâs only then does she seem to realise what you were doing.
  âWait, do that again.â
You giggle and kiss her again. This time, she responds immediately, placing a hand on the back of your head, tugging you onto the chair beside her even though thereâs barely any room.Â
She pulls back first, swiping her tongue along your bottom lip as if to savour the last few remnants of the kiss. âGod, why does it feel like so long since weâve done that?â
âBecause it has been,â you whisper, pressing another kiss against her jaw. âNow, go get your comfy clothes on and meet me in the living room. Youâre done working for now.â
You hear her scrambling out of her chair to follow you out of the room. âYes maâam.âÂ
