i saw this pop up in the tags on this post and it really hit the nail on the head for me

the source material is rife with issues and leaves a lot to be desired in certain areas. WE have always been the ones filling in the blanks and doing all the hard work. i was never into twilight back in the day because i thought the source material was that good - i was into it because i spent endless hours diving into fanfiction and fanart and engaging with silly fanon stuff. the fanmade conent has always carried this series. that was what made it so enjoyable for me then AND now

i don't WANT any new source material. i don't think any of us do, because we all want things that the people in charge of this franchise aren't interested in giving to us - and, regardless, none of them should continue to profit off of a very racist piece of media

if they make this show, they're testing the waters to see if twilight is still profitable and if they can keep milking it because we live in a terrible era of endless remakes and rehashes. don't let them do that. don't let them have your money or your interest. go read someone's fanfic - it'll probably be way better than anything made in any official capacity that's had smeyer's hands all over it

Rosalie Lillian and Jasper Whitlock* Hale

Twin Son and Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hale, born in 1915 in Rochester, New York.

Living during the Great Depression, they’re father’s family managed to stay afloat due to their father’s job at the local bank.

Jasper Whitlock, the stunning blue-eyed honey-blonde badass of the family, was originally drafted into World War II until some very specific strings were pulled and he was sent home after the sudden, horrible loss of his twin sister. He later left Rochester to go to Texas to help his mother’s family during the Great Depression - with work and other things. He suddenly disappeared within two weeks of being in Texas, he was turned by the vampire Maria who required him for her Southern Vampire Army. Later, in 1948, he found and fell for Mary Alice Brandon - more well known as Alice.

Rosalie and Jasper Hale were reunited in 1950 when Alice brought Jasper with her to join the Cullen Family.**

*- Jasper’s middle name comes from their mother’s maiden name

Jasper rolls up to the Cullen house pretty apprehensive about the whole thing bc his past experiences with other vampires weren’t great

The Cullens gather outside and Alice starts excitedly greeting them all by name, oblivious to Rosalie locking eyes with Jasper the moment she sees him

“Hi Carlisle, hi Esme, hi-” Jasper, absolutely stunned: “RosALIE????”

All the others are like ??? as Rose just propels herself into his arms sobbing “Jazz” into his shoulder

This would work like so wel with Rosalie’s character in general because she misses her human life, right, so she now has an eternal connection to that life to always keep with her to soften the pain a little, and whenever she’s sad she and Jasper gossip about the people who lived in their town

They return to Rochester one day just the two of them and walk around quietly, remembering the life they once had here, pointing at street corners where important events happened and places that housed their favorite stores

here’s how it goes. you’re a quiet kid. polite. bookish. mature for your age. when you introduce yourself with a nod and a “nice to meet you,” adults smile like you’re a performer in a play and notify your parents of what a little grown up you are. your glasses are too big for you. they slide down your nose. when class breaks, nobody wants to play games with you. well, you don’t really like games anyways. you like books, you tell yourself, you like learning, you like things that other kids don’t. you’re hardly a kid at all.

you spend your recesses in the library, or huddled in a corner of the field with books in your lap. you read nonfiction, because you’re hungry, because you yearn to know more, because you’re starved for something new. you read fantasy books, because they’re given to you on holidays, and you couldn’t bear to let it sit in your room with no one to read it. and you grow to like them too. they’re a different kind of nourishing. these kids are like you. smart kids. mature kids. kids that don’t play games at recess.

it doesn’t matter to them. these kids have magic.
