was at a bar and a 50+ year old drunk white woman complimented me and my friend's outfits, told us there was a campsite up in northern maryland where a lot of gay bears go to have sex in the woods. we asked her how she knew about this and she very aggressively said "because i'm a FAG HAG!!! but i'm not allowed to say that anymore I GUESS!!!"

the thing about heavy handed symbolism is that sometimes. it's fun.
I need to stop replying to “how do you make friends in your 30s?” threads because all my answers boil down to “you have to want to know people instead of have friends” and I don’t think people wanna hear that
It’s like. People can tell if you don’t really like or connect with them. If you aren’t truly enamored with someone you will have a hard time coming up with activities to do together to deepen the friendship. Because you don’t really like that person that much.
"i ate too many cookies" is truly an ageless problem. an unlearnable lesson.
you're just mad because you're hungry and tired and your legs hurt and you head hurts and you're too hot and you have depression
my fav creechurs :]

characters who get the "i can fix him" urge not because theyre a saint who loves everyone inherently but because they think "if i can prove there's good in everyone, maybe i can start feeling like i'm worthy or being seen as good too."
oh, no, you misunderstand me. those were my monkeys. yeah the circus and i have since parted ways. yeah it was the elephant thing, i dont really want to address that right now though
but i stay silly! *←said in the most world-weary voice you ever did hear*
“but I stay silly!”
Reblog you stay silly

“These new shows are just too expensive to make!” cry the people in charge of the choices that make shows too expensive to make
I watched a bts clip on ST: Picard about how expensive things were and that’s why we get such short seasons now then the next clip was about how the starship prop models were plated in real gold.
Okay so step one: don’t plate props in actual gold. This will save at least several dollars.
I guarantee you at least a third of the money could be saved on most of these shows if 1) every episode script was written before anything goes to camera 2) they stopped cutting prep days before filming and 3) directors have to provide a shotlist and 90% stick to it.
Seriously, the amount of pure bullshittery that happens because nothing gets planned is ridiculous.
If you're only going to film 6-8 episodes anyway, you can finish the damn scripts before going to camera. It's not a 24 episode season anymore, stop acting like it. What you also need is to let art department have enough time to do their damn jobs and not be constantly pulling overtime and costing you double and triple union rate to get your props and sets done. Likewise, not having a concrete plan for what your camera is going to be looking at on the day will once again be costing you overtime, but this time its the entire crew you've got on set. Because you keep making up shots and then the lighting takes an hour to change every time and camera has to send a runner for a new lens and-
You get it. Proper planning prevents piss poor performance. And saves money in the long run.

Sometimes you get a brief glimpse into the American worldview and decide that you don't want to know.
I cannot stress enough that this meme is entirely literal. there's no reference or subtext you don't know. these are simply the objectively most popular works of art from each denomination.
A few years ago while trying to find ways to commit suicide as painlessly as possible, I came across a PDF of Dr. Paul Quinnett's The Forever Decision. Thinking it might go into actual methods of suicide (I read an article once that actually did that and was trying to find it again) I started to read it, and I think I only got about two pages in before I was crying too much to actually see the words.
I downloaded the PDF to my hard drive and I open it again whenever I'm feeling too suicidal to do much else, but not enough to start booking a ride to the hospital. And every time without fail I only go up to a few pages before backing off and choosing to live another day just because suicide suddenly seems even more unbearable than whatever the hell upset me in the first place.
All the book really does is [I'm pulling a summary from GoodReads here as, again, I've read no more than 5 pages] "discusses the social aspects of suicide, the right to die, anger, loneliness, depression, stress, hopelessness, drug and alcohol abuse, the consequences of a suicide attempt, and how to get help."
But it also starts with the author kindly asking the reader to complete the book before going through with anything, and for some reason I'm compelled to really just try to read it all before finalizing everything. Despite not yet completing it (hopefully never will) I think I can safely say it's saved my life at least a few times now.
It's intentionally legal to copy and redistribute this book to keep it as accessible as possible, and it's very easy to find, but here's a link for it anyways.
