Because Iโm not a proponent of radical/extreme feminism. The feminism movement I appreciate isnโt divisive and uninclusive. If men (or anyone) for that matter can see strong women as people with potential and not metal-bikini-clad fantasies or threats against masculinity, theyโre gonna get some praise from me. Should we ban men from womenโs marches? Maybe some people think so. I donโt. โTo each his/her/their own, though.
Why tf would you give them a cookie for meeting basic standards of human decency??? It isnโt โdivisiveโ or โuninclusiveโ to expect men not to be giant whiny douchebags. Feminism is about womenโs liberation from patriarchy.
Thanks for making the gifset, but I was really disappointed that we canโt make content appreciating women without making it about men. Like, if theyโre so strong, then why canโt they stand it if we arenโt talking about them for five seconds?
That's a very good question. I wouldn't use the blanket statement to cover all of "them" though. Just the idiots of the bunch that, like you said, can't stand it if we aren't talking about them every five seconds.
My intent with the caption was to acknowledge that there are some men who appreciate strong women as they are. Not that we *need* that appreciation from them. Neither am I at all giving them a shout-out for making *me* and other strong women feel good about ourselves for their manly acknowledgment. I just think... maybe it's better to offer positive reinforcement for them acting contrary to how a patriarchal society raised them.
Fostering relationships with allies is better than potentially or intentionally turning it into an all-out "us vs. them" struggle. In my mind, anyway. I think there are always gonna be people within a movement who disagree about how to get results, but we can all agree on what we want the ultimate outcome to be. โค
