the cause of my ideological split with marxism boiled down to my finding it hard to reconcile the pervasive attitude of marxists—being that marx(isms) was/are uniquely situated outside of the system they are contained within by virtue of their theoretical approach, despite simultaneously believing that the analysis they produce (via dialectical/historical materialism) requires they be situated within it—which is echoed in the failure of contemporary transfeminisms to engage with the gendered subject as they are actually situated and instead analyse subterranean hierarchies. i call this the cup shuffle because every theorisation ive encountered requires that the subject be passed between one categorisation to the other in a way that therefore masks the movement between each: once you start embracing yourself as a man, therefore you were never a misogynised subject as you are a man nor can we map the movement involved in that process—the same way a transmisogynised person is understood to have always been so. it leads to toothless and unimaginative theorisation because it fails to engage with the gendered subject as a historical subject, much the same way most marxisms fail to engage with themselves as historically situated and materially grounded.
our analysis maps the system from within, but is exempt from the influence of the system because it is outside it, but also it remains in contact with the material Truth which can only be contacted from within. we map the boundaries of gender in order to rupture them from within but once you're a man then honestly it's hard to imagine you can still be affected by misogyny, i mean, that's not something that can happen to men, it's just transphobia since you're under this cup. what do you mean you were under a different cup before?
the rebuttal to recognition of movement of a gendered subject will frequently be that the opposite is from whence you get transmisogynstic theyfabs. where are you getting the fab from then 🤨
