Persistent Patience
Hello my loves,
It’s been a while my fearless Fibro babes, divine MS dolls and marvelous MG chicks. I have missed my time joy. The downgrade of my online time happen in conjunction with me going into the hospital. It was a hat trick this year, three hospital stays with umpteenth doctor appointments in between. I was wondering why my treatment wasn’t working. My energy was depleted, spams were ramping up, pain on the rise and new symptoms popping up left and right.
Instead of burrowing into myself and accepting where I was I turned to my amazing medical team. After discussion my concerns that my symptoms were increasing, while my MRI was staying the same my neurologist believed he had an answered. A disease that mimics multiple sclerosis nmo or Neuromyelitis Optica (NMO), also known as Devic's disease or Devic's syndrome.
NMO is a heterogeneous condition consisting of the simultaneous inflammation and demyelination of the optic nerve (optic neuritis) and the spinal cord (myelitis). I began this journey in 2011 and now I’m excited to start the next phase in my healing process. Yes, the road was long and frustrating at times. However, without the valleys I wouldn’t be able to enjoy the mountain tops. I wouldn’t be able to take claim of being this awesome strong woman. These diseases are a complicated maze to navigate, but with the proper support, prayer and patience anyone can be a conqueror.
