The crowd at today’s blood drive was rather surprising. Generally, they received a good turn out, but today was especially impressive. Normally on a busy work day, he would skip volunteering in the drive, but when he had seen mention that someone he suspected to be a Slayer was going to be there, he knew he had to go. He hadn’t had any Slayer blood to work with since Sabine had brought him the blood of Jamie Nash. Her ending was not necessarily a thrill to him, but he’d conceded there was no escaping Death. However, she was a very reasonable woman to work with which was something he had learned on his own.

Gregor had scanned the crowd of people waiting in line to donate. The number of lives that would be saved by these donations was enough to make him break out in a satisfied grin. Coming from a family of physicians, he had been lightly nudged to donate blood as soon as he had been able to. Saving lives had been something his parents and older sister were very adamant about and always had been. It was as if surgery was in their blood which always made it impossible for Gregor to imagine doing anything else with his future. From his youth, he knew what he was to be and now he was finally here though he sought to make the Fuchs name a legacy.

While looking over the crowd, his eyes fell on a familiar young girl named Danielle who he suspected was a Slayer. She was accompanied by a woman he recognized as Maggie and two other young women. The other young ones could likely be Slayers so he made a note to keep track of where their blood bags went so he could take them for his own studies. None of the nurses around would be any wiser. He continued taking donors in glancing out into the crowd to see where the girls were every so often. As they got closer to the front of the line, he made sure to keep himself less busy so he could retrieve their blood. When one of them reach the front, he brought her back. By the looks of her paperwork, her name was Estela.

A closer look at her paperwork and he noted she was not necessarily eligible to donate blood since she had moved her from Brazil less than six months ago. On the chance he was a Slayer, he took her blood anyway. Her paperwork would not be processed anyhow as he would putting her blood off to the side along with Danielle’s and Khloe’s. If his suspicions were wrong about Danielle, which given her username he was certain they were not, he could simply return the bags to the bank. He gave Estela a small grin, a goodbye and a cookie before letting her leave. When the other two left the area, he was sure to retrieve their blood bags and stow them away so he could take them a bit later when he left the premises.

A few hours later when he got the chance to leave, he went straight to his lab. There was no telling if he had received blood from a Slayer until he looked under a microscope which he was extremely eager to do. Upon entering the lab, he clicked the lock shut behind him. There was no need to draw attention to himself in this moment. Any of the doctors would believe him to be crazy if he bothered trying to explain it so he dove straight into his work. He took a small sample from the first bag and placed it on a slide under the microscope. Looking at blood close up was always awe striking. Something so plain looking had so many smaller components that made it whole. The world of science was fascinating that way. A whole world built on cells and atoms, but this blood definitely a supernatural component as well. The more defensive movements of the blood set it apart.

Really? I’ll probably come by and donate tomorrow then.

It’s absurd how some people can’t accept human ingenuity on its own merit, isn’t it?
