“In another universe huh..?”

“Yeah, maybe in another universe we’ll workout…” other than both of your sobs filling the room, it was silent. A comfortable silence. Your relationship with Jake was always the best, it was healthy. But that didn’t change the fact that you two were probably just better off as friends. You two had different views on the world, different opinions on many things, your futures didn’t match up. You two both wanted different things, he wanted to do this but you wanted to do that.

“Thought you didn’t believe in different universes.” You laughed sadly.

It was silent for a bit—so silent that you didn’t even want to move a single muscle in fear of making any kind of noise. “Y/n.. I didn’t bring up what I overheard because I didn’t want to talk about it. So can we talk about something else, please?”

"But I want an answer. I’m so confused. Minghao, why did you look at me at the cafe and act like you didn’t know me? Why don’t you want to talk about it? Do you not love me anymore?” Questions kept spilling out of your mouth. At this point, you had no control over what you were saying. You wanted an answer, and you were tired of being so damn confused over Minghao.

"We haven’t spoken in so long. Don’t make this awkward, please.” Was that his way of rejecting you? Why couldn’t he just give you a straight-up answer, yes or no?

"Can we be friends at least? Please..”

"I already said I didn’t want any contact with you. Please leave me alone.”

"But—" you were interrupted by the sound of the hang-up button being pressed. You looked at your phone in disbelief and felt your heart breaking into little pieces. It hurt even more when you tried to text him and saw that your messages weren’t going through. He blocked you. Why is it so hard for him to give you a clear answer? If he could just tell you how he feels, then you’d be able to go on with your life instead of being so confused. So why does he keep hurting you like this? You turned your phone off and went out. You were going shopping. You drove to a shopping center to buy yourself some new clothes, make-up, perfume, etc. When you got home, you dolled yourself up to take photos of yourself, and when you were finished, you posted them on Instagram. You posted some on your story as well, making sure to post them to a few of Minghao’s favorite songs. After you posted them, you immediately changed out of your clothes. Did you just get dolled up to take photos to post them just so your ex could see them? Yeah, you did. You also bought those really cute clothes and make up to wear them to school; if Minghao didn’t see your stories or posts, he would most definitely see you in class all dolled up. You bit your bottom lip anxiously while checking your stories and posts every hour to see if Minghao had seen any yet. You got many comments and likes on your stories and posts, but none were from the one person you wanted them to be from. You were starting to get frustrated when you refreshed your app and saw that Minghao viewed your story. You don’t know why, but for some reason you jumped up and smiled. Maybe it’s because you knew you looked hot. You shrieked excitedly, earning a loud knock on your door from Yeji, telling you to shut up. You checked the time and saw that it was now... 9PM?! You spent all day thinking about Minghao and didn’t even realize it was getting late and you had school the next day. You did your nightly routine, then laid on your bed, going on your phone for a few minutes before you actually went to bed. You replied to a few messages and comments you didn’t reply to earlier; you liked some of the comments, and then you put your phone away. You were excited to get dressed up for tomorrow, but you never really cared about how you looked in school because no matter what, people still had their eyes on you. You weren’t popular, but you were very well known; you didn’t care what title you had as long as it wasn’t anything bad.

The next morning, you woke up and got dressed, wearing the outfit and doing the make-up you had planned out the night before. You felt confident in yourself when you walked into school. Strangers and your own friends were all complimenting you. When you entered your first class, you saw Minghao sitting down alone in his seat all the way in the back of the classroom. You made your way over after saying hi to Seokmin and Seungkwan; they had no idea what happened between you and Minghao after you spilled all your feelings like that. You sat down next to Minghao and didn’t even look at him once; he stared at you for a while before speaking. “What are you doing, y/n?” You ignored him and put in your headphones. You didn’t even put on music, you just wanted to make it seem like you couldn’t hear him; in reality, you wanted to jump out of your seat and hug him. He tapped you again, making you take your headphones off. "Y/N, what are you trying to do right now?” I’m trying to be your girlfriend again. Isn’t that obvious, dumbass?

"What are you talking about? I just didn’t like sitting up front, it was soooooo uncomfortable. And this was the only available seat back here.” You said before putting in your headphones again that you didn’t look at him even when you guys were talking to each other, but you could feel his eyes burning holes into you. You knew he was staring at you, but you had no idea what he was thinking, which made you anxious. He turned around and sat there on his phone until the teacher came in.

"Goodmorning class, today we—“ you tuned out the teacher by putting on music for real this time, you ended up falling asleep. Meanwhile, with Seokmin and Seungkwan, they couldn’t stop looking back at you guys. “Do you know what’s going on with them? Are they dating?” Seokmin asked Seungkwan. Minghao never really told Seokmin anything—not because he wasn’t that close with Seokmin but because he never really told anyone about his love life. Minghao was a pretty private guy. “No, dumbass! They’d be talking if they were dating!” You haven’t told Seungkwan about what happened with Minghao; you didn’t want to. You felt guilty for not telling him, but you knew he’d probably tell the rest of your friend group, and you knew the rest of your friend group wouldn’t approve of you chasing after an ex of yours. Seungkwan or your friend group, Minghaos friendgroup included as well, didn’t know that you two were exes. You never told any of them because they didn’t know Minghao, and because you don’t talk about your exes, that would be weird, and you just found no point in doing so.

By the time class was over, Minghao had thought about waking you up; he decided against going through with the idea and just going up to Seokmin. Seokmin couldn’t stop giggling and smiling the whole time he walked around the school with Minghao. By the time it was time for lunch, he was smiling even more. "Dk, what’s so funny?” Minghao finally asked.

    “Nothing… kinda…”  Seokmin giggled out, and the rest of the group started to come up to the table Minghao and Seokmin were sitting at.

"So when are you going to tell us you were dating that baddie?” Junhui asked Minghao while smirking.

    “What baddie? I’m not dating anyone."

    “Oh come on! Dk told us all about it! Jesus, if I were dating y/n, I wouldn’t be afraid to admit it. Did you see how she came dressed to school today?” Soonyoung said while hitting Wonwoo's side with a grin on his face while wiggling his brows, earning a dirty look from Wonwoo.

"No, but he’s right, y/n is hot.” Jeonghan said while taking a bite out of Joshua’s sandwich.

    “Y/n? I’m not dating y/n." Minghao said while shooting a glare at Seokmin. Seokmin ignored Minghao's fierce glare and just continued talking about random stuff; the subject had changed, yet Minghao was quiet. He couldn’t stop thinking about you. He had to admit, you did look hot today. But he'd rather die than admit that to his friends or you, especially after getting defensive and saying he wasn’t dating you. You were walking with Seungkwan and Jihoon. Seungkwan wouldn’t stop giving you a look—a look that said, 'Well, are you going to tell me what happened?’ Seungkwan knew you knew what that look meant, but you were choosing to ignore it. When you all gathered up in the classroom,the secret hangout spot. You guys began talking about whatever. Seungkwan never took his eyes off you; he knew something was up, and he wouldn't stop until he got an answer from you. He sat next to you and whispered in your ear.

"What's going on with the new guy? Did you guys fuck or what?"

    “What?! No, we didn’t fuck! I just hated sitting in the front because it gave me memories of Youngbin. That’s it.”

    “Bullshit!” Seungkwan yelled out, making the rest of the group look at you guys. “Sorry! Y/N was telling me about the drama between her and  Karina.” This only made things worse because you knew your friend group was nosy.

"Oh shit, what the hell? Did more stuff happen? SPILL!!” Dino yelled out while getting comfortable. Your lucky Seungkwan used that as an excuse for why he yelled. You and Karina actually did have drama together, so it was kind of easy to change the subject over to that drama. Lunch was soon over, and you had one more class for the day. You had a class with Miyeon and told her about the Minghao situation. You felt more comfortable telling her about it because you knew she’d always support you and your decisions, no matter how insane they are. Plus, she was a girl, and it just felt more comforting. As you expected, she supported you and told you that you would most definitely win him over with how hot you look. She was supporting your delusions, which made you even more confident. Minghao had gone to the library after school, ever since he transferred to the school, he began helping out in the school library. You knew Vernon and Yeji worked there, along with Wonwoo and Joshua. 'Hey, babe, can you bring over some food for me and Vernon, please? I’m starving! We’ll pay you back! Xoxo.’ You read Yejis text and began making your way over to a fast food restaurant you guys all liked. You knew they weren’t going to pay you back, but you couldn’t really care about it either way. You brought over their food and were about to leave until you saw Minghao helping some girl out at the front. You believed she was checking out books, but you could also tell she wanted Minghao by the way she was pushing up her tits against the counter. You felt sick to your stomach watching this, but you continued to watch despite feeling sick anyway. You watched how he smiled at her and softly laughed at the stupid jokes she’d make.

"Oh, hey y/n—oh.. I had no idea Minghao was that type of person. I’m so sorry, y/n. If you need to talk, I’m here.” Joshua said this while rubbing your back.

    “What? What are you talking about?” You questioned him, turning to look at him.

"Are you not staring at your boyfriend letting some girl hit on him?”

    “Boyfriend..? I’m not dating anyone. Why? Did Minghao say we were dating??" You kind of lit up at the thought of Minghao referring to you as his girlfriend, until Joshua opened his mouth again.

"Quite the opposite, actually.. haha.. yeah, uh, we thought you guys were together because Seokmin told us some things.. Minghao told us you weren’t dating, but we all kind of thought he was just too shy or embarrassed.  Sorry." Joshua said awkwardly. Oh, so it was just a misunderstanding. Your face turned beet red from embarrassment, and you just left. You could tell Joshua was also embarrassed, for a much different reason. You decided maybe you should tell Seungkwan about everything; he would help you out by giving you advice, for sure. You asked him to meet up with you at your job, you knew today wasn’t going to be busy so you could talk to him while working. You made sure not to let Jeonghan hear. Knowing Jeonghan, if he heard you talking about his friend, he would tell him as soon as he got the chance. Work went by fast; you closed earlier than usual because it wasn’t busy today and barely anyone came. Jihoon came to pick you up as usual, and as you and Seungkwan got in the car, you guys were still talking about Minghao. Jihoon was listening in on the conversation and even joining in sometimes until he remembered what happened that one day.

    “Y/n… I have to tell you something.” Jihoon trailed off. “Do you want Seungkwan to hear? It’s about Minghao."

"Of course he can hear too! He’s bae.” You said smiling, but your smile dropped when you heard what Jihoon said.

"Minghao lied on your name the other day when he looked at you like you were a psycho. When Seokmin came and asked what his problem was, he claimed that you took his order and were being an ass to him. I knew you weren’t an asshole to him because you weren’t even there. I saw you disappear for a while, then come back.” Jihoon said, not breaking his gaze on the road, you were shocked to say the least.

"And you didn’t defend her? Are you serious? You just sat there and let them lie on her name?” Seungkwan got defensive over you; he always did. No matter who it was, he would argue with them. You over anyone.

"Seungkwan, it’s fine—"

"No, he’s right, y/n, I didn’t do anything. I could’ve spoken up and defended you.” Jihoon felt guilty now that he looked back at it. Seungkwan supported you going after Minghao; if he knew about it all from the start, he would’ve been the one making you chase after him. But after hearing about how he was shitting on you, his mind changed.

    “Woozi. Seungkwan. It’s fine, I promise you. I don’t mind that you didn’t say anything, Jihoon. I know you, and I know you don’t like attention on you, so I completely understand that you didn’t want to cause a scene. Yeah, I’m hurt and shocked that Minghao lied about me like that. But you don’t have to feel bad about not doing anything. In fact, I’m glad you didn't, or else I would’ve been a bit embarrassed.”

    “Shit dude! I still don’t care! If I were there, I would’ve said something."Seungkwan joked. You guys all laughed, and you invited them both over to your dorm, they accepted your offer. You guys made it to your dorm, this time, no drinking. The girls were home by the time you three made it there, and they all said hello to each other. It was a nice night; you hadn’t even thought about Minghao the whole night. It ended up with Seungkwan and Jihoon leaving together. The girls were already knocked out on the couch. So that left you alone, but you didn’t mind. This just meant you got to go to sleep without the girls screaming about some random shit. Just as you laid your head against your pillow, you got a text from an unknown number. ‘Is this y/n?’ You read the text but were confused. Who was this?

Minghao cleared his throat unintentionally, a habit he always had. He didn’t mean to make any noise because he was planning on just leaving and acting like he hadn’t just heard you spill your love for him, but now that he’s made a noise along with Seokmin’s loud gasp, he couldn’t leave. You freed yourself from Seungkwan's grasp and looked up to see who was there. When you made eye contact with Minghao, you froze. Seungkwan knew he had to do something, but he didn’t know what exactly to do, so he acted out of instinct and ran away from everything while dragging you with him. Leaving Seokmin stunned, he slowly turned around to get a look at Minghao with his mouth hanging wide open. Minghao closed Seokmin's mouth and was about to leave before Seokmin grabbed his wrist. “What are you going to do? Do you like her too? Oh my god, this is amazing! I’m finally witnessing my bitchless friend pull... They grow up so fast.” Seokmin said while wiping fake tears.

"Seokmin, this isn’t a joke. It’s serious, so stop treating it like one.”

“Ah, sorry. You’re right. So then what will you do?”

“Nothing.” Minghao didn’t let Seokmin respond because he left and went back into class, apologizing to the teacher about what happened. He sat down and acted like nothing had happened. It seemed that other people in the class didn’t notice your breakdown or your absence, so he knew you’d at least be glad for that. You were extremely embarrassed; you didn’t want Minghao to find out you still loved him like that. Seungkwan stood by your side until you calmed down. You guys decided to skip the rest of school. Dino was throwing a small party for close friends to just hang out and have fun tonight. Seungkwan knew he had to cheer you up now, and waiting for the party was going to take far too long, so instead, he took you to a karaoke bar. You guys got yourself a private room and ordered some drinks and snacks before singing.

"WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU GUYS?" Mingyu said loudly on the phone that you heard Seungcheol tell him to shut up and stop being so loud. You forgot they were still in class; you could see Dino, Vernon, and Woozi in the back of the FaceTime screen. You flipped your camera to show that you were at a karaoke bar and showed your drinks.

"You're drinking this early? God help you. What am I going to do with you guys?" You heard Woozi sigh while holding his forehead. You didn’t say anything but giggled before hanging up. Seungkwan was still singing his heart out while taking sips from his drink in between the lyrics. You joined in, and as the hours passed, it got later. Seungkwan had tapped out and was just laying on the sofa, trying to keep himself awake. He had to go to that damn party Dino was hosting. You were also wasted, but not as bad as Seungkwan. You two began ranting about whatever came to mind. You excused yourself and went to the bathroom before you got a notification. ‘Is what you said about Minghao true? You really like him?’ You read the text and felt sick to your stomach thinking about what had happened earlier today. You were so distracted by having fun that you almost forgot about it all, but Seokmin just had to text you about it. You ignored it and rushed to the toilet, holding your stomach. After a few minutes of making sure you weren’t going to puke, you fixed yourself up and headed to the room where Seungkwan was waiting for you. He was asleep, so you gently nudged him awake. He woke up after a few nudges and let you carry him to the bus stop. It was obvious you guys were both intoxicated, but nobody said anything. You got on the bus and made it to Dino’s and Mingyu’s dorm.

"Holy shit you reek of alcohol! Both of you!” Seungcheol covered his nose and made a fake gagging sound. Seungkwan pushed through him and sat down on the couch. You hugged everyone before stealing Dino’s drink.

"Don't you think you had enough already, Y/N?" Mingyu looked at you with a slightly worried face, mixed with a disgusted face.

"Don't you think you should shut up?” You said it sarcastically, making the group laugh because Mingyu looked deeply offended.

"You're going to die from liver problems! Don’t say I didn’t warn you." Mingyu scoffed and threw a piece of chicken at you. Vernon caught it and ate it. The night went on, and you guys played board games, watched movies, ate, and drank. It was all so fun until you got on your phone and saw Seokmin's message that you haven’t replied to yet. You felt yourself becoming dizzy; were the drinks getting to you or were you just overthinking about the whole Minghao situation? You had no idea, but you knew you wanted that feeling to go away, so you grabbed yourself some water. When you opened the water, you took a sip and then made a disgusted face because the “water” burnt your throat. “Y/n!!! That’s my alcohol back off!!"Mingyu snatched the bottle from your hands and put it back in the fridge.

"Who the hell puts fucking alcohol in a goddamn water bottle? Asshole!”

“Obviously I do!” You guys went back and forth about putting alcohol in a water bottle; apparently Mingyu had put it in the bottle so he could sneak it to school, and he had the nerve to judge you earlier for drinking so much?

The group was passed out while you continued drinking; you weren’t sleepy because you knew if you tried going to sleep, you wouldn’t be able to anyway. You grabbed your phone and kept staring at Minghao’s page—the posts of you that he still had up. You looked to see if you still had his number on your phone, and you did. Your finger lingering over the call button, you sighed and decided not to call. Yes, you were drunk, but you knew better than to drunk call your ex. You went out to the balcony because you felt like you were suffocating in that damn dorm. You pulled out your phone and found your finger lingering over the call button once again. This time you had accidentally pressed the call button instead of exiting out. You freaked out, and your phone wouldn’t let you hang up for some reason. You were so shaky that you kept missing the hang-up button until you heard a voice speak. “Y/n?” You felt your heart drop. It had already been too late to turn back, so you wanted to make it seem intentional, not like an accident, so you cleared your throat and started talking. The tremble in your voice made it obvious you were nervous.

“Minghao…”

“Y/n..?” Minghao sounded confused. Hell, if you were in his shoes right now, you’d be confused as well. “Why’d you call? Are you alright? Are you hurt?”

“No… I have a—why do you—it makes—and why—" Your words came out slurred, with only a few words being audible.

“Y/n, are you drunk? I can’t understand you; where are you?” Minghao asked worriedly; he had no idea where you were or who you were with. Yeah, he may have been a little mean, lying on your name and not talking to you after hearing you confess your love for him unintentionally, but he wasn’t a complete asshole. He still had human decency and cared about your well-being. You didn’t answer; instead, you hung up and felt your eyes closing. You couldn’t keep yourself up any longer, so you used all the strength you had left to go back inside and make it to the couch. As soon as your head hit the fluffy cushions, your eyelids gave up, and you immediately fell into a deep slumber. However, Minghao couldn’t sleep after you called him. He found himself tossing and turning; he called you three times after you hung up; he even went as far as calling Seungkwan on Instagram after finding his account from Seokmin's tags. Nobody answered him.

Minghao woke up from a restless sleep. All night he was thinking, and it felt as if he hadn’t slept at all in days. There wasn’t any school today because of the bad weather. Minghao clicked on your contact and was debating whether he should text you or not. “Minghao! Let’s go get some coffee. I tried going back to sleep after I got the email that we didn’t have school, but I can’t! I need something to wake me up.” Junhui yawned and knocked on the door.

"Same here, let me get washed up.” Minghao made his way to the bathroom to brush his teeth and shower. He looked at himself in the mirror. Already? Only after one night of not sleeping well? He groaned before putting toothpaste on his toothbrush. It took him a while before he was finally finished getting cleaned up. “I’m ready, Jun; let’s head out now before the weather gets worse.” Jun nodded and put on his coat; Minghao did the same as they walked out the door together. The cafe was a bit packed considering that it was the morning and people came in to wake themselves up with caffeine. Minghao stood in line with Junhui, and when they reached the register, Minghao didn’t expect to see you. “Glad to see you’re okay.” Minghao said, sounding slightly irritated, he was pissed off that you looked alight while he was suffering from the restless night he had, but he would be lying if he said he didn’t let out a sigh of relief when he saw you were okay. Junhui was confused, and so were you. What was he talking about? Minghao could tell you were confused, so he took matters into his own hands. “Jun I’ll order your drink, go ahead and wait at the pick-up section." Junhui followed Minghao's orders. Minghao had Junhui leave so he could talk to you one-on-one. “You drunk called last night. I couldn’t understand you, and you just hung up. What the hell were you on about?” You thought about what happened last night, and it all came flowing in. You were obviously embarrassed. “Delete my number, y/n. I don’t want any contact with you."

"Then why do you still have our posts up? Why haven’t you deleted them yet?” You were hurt by Minghao’s words, and at this point you were saying anything to keep him talking to you. You knew what you were saying barely made any sense replying to what he said, but you really were wondering why he hasn’t deleted them.

“What do you mean? What posts?” Minghao pulled out his phone and checked to see what you were talking about. “Oh, you're talking about these.” Minghao paused and laughed while running his fingers through his hair before he continued, “You know I’m not a social media person, I just forgot to delete them. If it makes you happy, I’ll delete them now.”

“You’re an asshole.”

"Do you want me to delete them or not? Make up your mind.” You were about to say something before the people behind Minghao in line were beginning to grow tired of your long conversation. Minghao left, and you knew he wouldn’t talk to you after this unless you spoke to him first. You cursed under your breath, pissed off at the ruined chance at finally being able to clear things up. You took the next order and switched positions with Mark; he took over the register while you made the drinks. You gave Junhui’s first but made sure to leave Minghao’s on the other counter. You were going to speak to Minghao no matter what.

"Minghao, why are you avoiding me? I thought you were all about ‘communication is key’ so what the hell snuck up your ass?"

"It's too early for this y/n, I’ll call you later. Just give me my drink and let me leave."

“Stop lying! I know you won’t call me, so please just speak to me now.” At this point, you sounded desperate. Minghao almost gave in but decided to leave without his drink. Mark overheard the conversation and told you to leave early since you were supposed to leave in 10 minutes anyway. You left but couldn’t find Minghao or Junhui anywhere. You walked back home with a heavy heart while listening to your playlist. The song made you even more sad, so you switched it to an upbeat song so you could at least lift your mood a bit. You knew Minghao wouldn’t call you, so when you got home and were feeling bold, you texted him first. ‘Minghaooo..’ All the confidence left your body, and you got nervous, so you did whatever you could to distract yourself from looking at your phone every second to see if he saw your message. You cleaned your room, cleaned the living room, kitchen, bathroom, even Miyeon’s room, and finished it all off by taking a long shower. When you got out, you tried to keep yourself from gabbing your phone but gave in and checked to see if Minghao had responded, and he did. ‘I knew you’d text. I was going to block you but felt bad.' You knew you should’ve been hurt by the fact he admitted to wanting to block you, but your heart skipped a beat when he said he’d feel bad. You saw that he sent another message under the previous one a few minutes later. ‘Call me when you can. I’m free all day.’ You wasted no time calling him; you haven’t even gotten dressed yet. The phone ringing made you anxious. You were biting your nails nervously and were wondering if you should hang up after the 5th ring came up. While you were lost in your thoughts, you heard his voice.

“Y/n..” You missed calling him, you missed hearing him say your name, you missed his voice. You missed him.

“Minghao..”

He awkwardly cleared his throat and spoke again. “Why were you working today? I thought you worked in the afternoons."

"I do. I was working this morning because Sakura had gotten sick, so I covered for her. Why? Did you you memorize my shift? Are you still in love with me?” You regretted your last words as soon as they left your mouth; you forgot you were talking to your ex and not a friend. It was silent for a bit before he cleared his throat once more.

"No, nothing like that. The world doesn’t revolve around you. You do know that, right? I was only asking because last time we met at the cafe, you were working an afternoon shift.” You were embarrassed, and his annoyed tone made you want to crawl into a hole and die.

"Yeah, I’m sorry. It just slipped out."

"You're fine. don’t worry, anyway." Minghao was nervous, and you could tell by the way he kept clearing his throat.

"I miss you, Minghao.”

"Y/n? Are you okay? Do you need pads? I have some in my car, I can go get them if you need them." You heard Miyeon knocking on the door; how long have you been in there for?

    "Oh no! Don’t worry, I’m perfectly fine! it was just a false alarm, haha." You yelled back while pacing around the bathroom. You looked at yourself in the mirror and at your outfit.

    "Thank god! I thought I’d be on my period next since we always sync, and I don’t even have pads. I said that so you could feel a bit of comfort. Anyway, I’m getting back to work. Hurry your ass up because we’re busy!" Miyeon laughed, but you completely canceled out her voice, thinking about how Minghao looked. FUCK! He looked so good today, and you were dressed in your lazy hangover fit; you hadn’t even put any make-up on. If you knew your ex-boyfriend was going to randomly show up at the cafe you work at for some reason, you would have gone all out for it. You can’t let him see you looking like a bum after your breakup! You did what you could and fixed your hair. You walked out of the bathroom, and Minghao was now the one ordering. Were you gone for long or not? Was the line really that long that it took him all that time you were in the bathroom to finally reach the register? It seemed that he was done ordering, so he went over to the "pick up" section so he could wait for the stuff he ordered. You went over to see what he had ordered, and you were surprised to see that he ordered an iced caramel macchiato. That was the drink you had introduced him to; he never really liked going to cafes, and if he ever did, it was because you dragged him to one. You respected his boundaries, so you never dragged him to a busy cafe; instead, you’d always drag him to the cafes nobody really knew about—those small family-owned cafes. You were lost in thought before you remembered you had to actually make the coffees. You got to work and started working on Minghao’s order; he also ordered a couple of pastries and an iced white chocolate mocha, which you were guessing was for his friend. Wait, who did he come here with? You looked over to see where he was sitting, and it was Seokmin. You quickly got to work on his drinks and pastries, and when you finished, you called out his name so he could pick it up. He looked up from his phone and looked at you. You don’t know what exactly he was trying to do, but he didn’t come closer to getting his order. You were puzzled, to say the least, but just set his drink down.

    "Dude! Can you not hear? They called your name out hours ago!" Seokmin said it with a pained look on his face. "NOOOOO!!! MY ICE MELTED BECAUSE OF YOU!"

"Chill out, dumbass. they called my name out only a second ago. Jesus Christ, and your ice didn’t melt. Stop being dramatic. Could we go to a different cafe next time? This one’s packed."

    "But… But what about Y/N? Wasn’t she cool? She’s worth going through all that line just to see her beautiful smile!"

"You talk like you're in love with her. Also, she was a total dick while taking my order. That’s why I don’t want to come here ever again."

    "Really? She’s not the type to be rude to anyone. Are you sure you got the name tags right?" Seokmin paused before looking around and leaning into Minghao’s ear to whisper something. "It could’ve been Miyeon... She’s kind of mean to customers here, but I don’t blame her! These students are so annoying." Minghao knew you weren’t the type to be an asshole; he knew that better than anyone else, but he still continued on with his lie for some reason.

"Let's just go, please." The two of them left, and a certain someone heard their whole conversation. Jihoon was sitting down there the whole time, listening in on what was happening. What the hell was this random dude on about? Who was this guy? And why was he lying on your name if you weren’t even the one who took his order? Jihoon made a mental note to tell you about this later; he wasn’t just going to sit by and let someone disrespect his friend. You were a bit weirded out by how Minghao clearly looked at you, then pretended to act stupid. Did he not remember you? You couldn’t get the vision out of your head; you could feel yourself slowly losing your mind more and more when you thought about it. You were so lost in your thoughts that when your shift was over, you almost worked overtime because of how much you were thinking about Minghao. Jeonghan had to nudge you in order to bring you back to reality.

"Hey, you alright?"

"Ah, yeah, I’m fine. Sorry, what time is it?"

"Time for you to go home and rest. You look exhausted." He said while patting your back and walking away after. Jihoon was waiting for your shift to be over so he could drop you off at home.

He was waiting for you to finish your rant about your day before you suddenly perked up.

"OH MY GOD, guess what the hell happened today, Woozi! I fucking saw my goddamn ex! I don’t know if he remembers me, though, because he just stared at me, then back at his phone. Or maybe I’m delusional and thought it was him, but really it was someone else? GAAAAHHH, I’m going crazy. Woozi, help me!" You exclaimed loudly while running your fingers through your hair. "And guess what else, bro? HE STILL GETS THE DRINK. I INTRODUCED HIM TO OH MY GOD. HE WANTS ME SO FUCKING BAD!" Jihoon was trying to put everything together in his head; he’s sure he saw you call someone out, then have awkward eye contact with them as they ignored you and went back on their phone. It finally clicked that Minghao was the asshole lying on your name.

    "Y/n…" Jihoon began but didn’t know if he should tell you. You were clearly excited to see your ex again. It was obvious you still had feelings for him.

“How long ago did you date him? And what was the reason for the breakup?”

You sucked in a breath. You looked off to the side before responding, "Uh, we broke up about two years ago. We broke up for a couple of reasons. I don’t want to talk about it." He looked at you before looking back at the road.

"So does he go to our school? Or what? Why are you just now seeing him?"

"Hmmm, now that you bring that up, I honestly don’t know why he’s even here, but as I said, it may not actually be him." You guys got distracted by other topics, and it completely slipped Jihoon’s mind about what Minghao had said, and before you knew it, you were home. You waved goodbye and said thank you to Jihoon for dropping you off; he said it was alright, and he’ll always be your personal Uber, whether you like it or not. You giggled at his humor and left while waving once again. When you entered your dorm, you went on Instagram, and that’s when you saw Joshua’s post. It was a photo of Joshua, Wonwoo, and Minghao. You clicked on the photo and saw that Joshua had tagged both of them. Yup, that’s him. You thought as you clicked on Minghao's You looked through his posts and saw that he hasn’t really been on Instagram ever since you two broke up. You went down all the way to the bottom of his page when you saw that he still had a picture of one of your dates posted. You clicked on it and scrolled through the post. You saw countless photos of you and him together; your heart was running miles, and you felt like your chest was on fire. Why were these still up? Why didn’t he ever delete them? Were you thinking too much about it? I need a drink. You made your way to the kitchen and found alcohol in the fridge.

"Drinking alone without us? Awh, you’re mean! My hearts shattered." Yeji spoke and grabbed herself a bottle as well; Miyeon was probably going to steal sips from both of your bottles.

"Guys, please, can you help me out?" You said it almost desperately while making your way to the living room, with two of your roommates following behind you.

   "Yeah? What’s up?" Miyeon said as she popped open a bottle and took a couple of sips.

"What does it mean when your ex still has photos of the two of you when you were together posted on his Instagram?"

"Honestly, I feel like that means he still wants you, babe. I don’t blame him. You’re smoking hot." Yeji spoke, making Miyeon hit her shoulder.

"Gosh, Yeji, you sound like a middle-aged man who’s hitting on a young girl at the bar!" Miyeon giggled, "But yeah, I agree with Yeji. It’s weird that he hasn’t deleted them, especially if he’s still active on the account." You took out your phone to look back at the posts; you saw his most recent ones were from yesterday and today. You didn’t know Yeji and Miyeon were being nosy and reaching over your shoulder to see what you were looking at.

    "THE NEW KID?" They both yelled out in shock, making you jump.

    "Holy shit! You guys know him?"

    "Yeah! I have a few classes with him, so does  Yeji." Great. So Xu Minghao went to your school, and that means that definitely was him at the cafe.

"I'm going to sleep, guys. Goodnight." You rushed out while making your way to your room, you felt tipsy because you chugged your drink a lot while talking to those two. You knew you wouldn’t be able to sleep at night if you didn’t.

You woke up, ready for the day. You had a plan in your head: you would find Minghao and talk to him. You spent extra time getting ready; you wanted to make sure he’d take you back no matter what! When you made it to school, you were looking all over for him, yet you hadn’t once spotted him. You decided to go to class, and when you walked in, you said hi to Seungkwan and Seokmin. Seungkwan could tell you upset; he could read you like an open book.

    "Y/n… come here." He got up from his seat and waited for you to come to him. He hugged you tightly and asked you what was wrong. The tears in your eyes were starting to slide down your cheeks. For some reason, ever since yesterday, when you saw Minghao, your mind has been going in spirals. You felt like all the memories came rushing in, and damn, you missed him. It was all so hard to accept that he was actually here at the same school as you. Seungkwan had no idea why you were crying, but he quickly hid you so nobody else saw you break down. He walked out of class, not caring whether you guys got in trouble or not. You were more important. As he hugged you, you only felt the tears pour out more violently. Every ounce of sadness you’ve ever held was coming out now, and all the stress you had built up in you was all coming out. It seemed that Minghao was the breaking point; you were fine with all the stress building up, you were fine with all the sadness you held in you, and you were fine hiding every problem deep inside of you. But for some reason, since you’ve seen Minghao, you felt like literal shit.

"Seungkwan, I miss him so much—so fucking much it hurts." You spoke in a raspy, strained voice; it was quiet, and only Seungkwan could hear you. He had no idea who you were talking about, but he still wanted to comfort you, none the less, so he just listened to you. "I can’t find him anywhere, and I’m just so damn confused. I just want to talk to him and clear things up! Maybe I even want more."

    "Who? Who’s this ‘he’ you’re talking about, y/n? I’ll help you find him. Just let me know, please. It’ll all be okay, yeah? Just let me help." Seungkwan never once softened his grip; he was letting you know he was there for you, but his grip wasn’t so tight that it could hurt you. He knew what your limit was, so he never crossed it by hugging you any tighter to the point where you’d get hurt or feel like you were suffocating.

    "Minghao! The new kid everyone's running their mouths about—that's what makes it all worse! Everyone seems to know where he is, yet I can’t fucking find him. It’s like he’s avoiding me." You were right, but it seemed like right now Minghao couldn’t avoid you after being dragged out of the classroom by Seokmin to find you. Minghao heard everything.
