also love how the original metaphor of “nailing jello to a tree” is about trying to force your bizarre and arbitrary will on something that is categorically disinclined to do such a thing, for no conceivable reason.

"You only get one family" is true, but not in the way that people who like to say that think it is. You only get one family, the first one is free. If that one sucks or it's just not a good match, you can get a new one but you're gonna have to find that one yourself.

I just watched a video essay about how the twilight movies specifically have compelling evidence for the entire thing being something Bella made up after falling down the stairs and going to the hospital and usually I hate those “it was all just a dream” theories but frankly this one is hilarious so I like it

My dad used to say that the only men who are adamant about their female sexual partners being virgins before them and obsessed with women having low body counts are men who are extremely bad in bed and are afraid of their female sexual partners having anything to compare it to and the ability to recognize that sex is supposed to be good and that particular guy is not good. Which I believe to be true but it was a bizarre yet insightful bit of sex ed to get as a teenager.
