This is the thing for me. The only person who has the right to talk about her marriage, her child and her personal life is her so it’s up to her to make that decision.
She is playing the role of a mother in her new movie that she is promoting right now so it makes sense that being a new mother is part of the conversation. We wouldn’t bat an eye if it were a different actress doing that. I don’t know why it has to be different with her.
The comment about the “crazies”, I think it’s a product of killing two birds with one stone. What would have people said if she had given an exclusive interview to talk about that? If people take the time to read the Vanity Fair interview they’ll realize that is a minuscule part of it. Of course, most people criticizing it have just read the parts she is talking about the OL fandom that have been posted here.
It also proves that when we say that what happens in this corner of the fandom stays here is untrue. They are truly aware of it since most of these convos happen in Tumblr, not Twitter.
C has made unfortunate comments about the fandom (horny grannies comes to mind) but bringing light to the absolute and perverse nature of the conspiracy theorists is not one of them. I am pretty sure that besides bringing light to it, she has taken the matter to whatever institutions should be notified about it. One thing doesn’t preclude the other from happening.
Sitting outside her house behind tinted windows, calling the church, hiring PIs, making videos of the evolution of a pregnancy that never was, writing in a public blog (hiding behind a screen name) that S is the father of her child, etc. is so beyond the line that many people have crossed that I just don’t know what else to say.
This fandom, in its majority, is full of S onlies who hide behind the ES, WS, S label. I say it because I have seen it. I say it because I have heard ES criticize C for all she was doing to their Golden boy and say that if it turns out they were not together, they would continue supporting S. I say it because I see the inequality of content posted.
I’m not a fan of C anymore. I stopped watching her outside of OL because this whole craziness has tainted the way I perceive her but I will always be a fan of a woman who wants to protect her family. She has a platform, she has a voice and she is using it.
