It's kind of going to be a mixed bag for the Zelda crowd here because I have to talk about a lot of my Mass Effect work, but it is what it is!!
Skylines (with 79 kudos) - so this is my oldest Mass Effect fic that I wrote publicly as a gift exchange. It is Jackanda for those In The Know, and I just. Do not like it unfortunately. πβ Like it's *fine* don't get me wrong, but it is so deeply unlike everything I write usually that I always felt very ambivalent about the fact that it was (for a very long time) my most kudoed fic. I get the appeal, it's short and sweet (but also weird on the worldbuilding??) but yeah it is as unlike myself as you can get so it's a bit weird! But I'm glad people enjoy it!
Litany of Betrayal (with 79 kudos) - yaaay!! I really like Litany of Betrayal and I'm really happy people enjoy it too!! I think it might be one of those rare fics where I wouldn't change a thing about it, even years later. Sometimes I wonder if I just, didn't manage to hit every single point I wanted to explore with TLOZ in this one fic and I've just been running in circles repeating this idea but Less Good ever since... But existentialism aside, I really like it!!! I'm glad people do as well!
Descant of Greatness (with 66 kudos) - Yay it's Ganny time!!! I'm glad people like Descant!! I think Descant has some really cool stuff and I particularly enjoyed the process of writing it, how I allowed myself to completely freestyle it with non-linear chronology and trying to excavate ideas about what fascinates me with Ganondorf without putting too much pressure on myself. I think the result works in most parts! Tbh I kind of consider it mostly brainstorming grounds for Thralls now, and there are ideas I have gone back on since or ideas that devolved in importance in favor of other, clearer interpretations, but I'm super glad I allowed myself to experiment here and get very stuffy and literary with it, even if it does end up meadering in places if I'm being Quite Honest. But yay!! As one of the bookmark tags put it "good ganondorf study I think" πβ
The Empire of Preys (with 15 kudos) - ok so is it crazy work to put a non-Zelda fic as number 1 that 1) isn't ANYWHERE near finished , 2) I haven't been able to work on for months because it's stuck in a broken laptop, and 3) no one who will read this post will care about? absolutely. It's still true though. I have the whole outline and it's about half done IRL, and I think it's hands down my best work regarding worldbuilding and character study. It's less emotionally gripping than my other stuff perhaps, but I think it's my most mature and carefully constructed work by a long shot. It will only appeal to 5 people on this fair Earth, but, I fear it might be where I truly peak as a writer if I ever manage to get my fCKMING LAPTOP BACK
Litany of Betrayal (with 66 kudos) - I said my piece already! Love it! Glad people love it! Peace and love and horrible dinner scenes upon the world!
Halfway Home (with 58 kudos) - ahhh. My horrible child. My horrible, horrible child. It took me seven years to bring you into the world, and you truly helped me get through some of the most challenging periods of my life (including one time during surgery where I hallucinated I talked to a weird being of light who asked me whether I had any regrets if I were to die, and I told them that I'd be bummed out about not finishing my Mass Effect fic, which is true it truly happened and it really shows you my fucking priorities in life πβ). Thank you for being the place in which I howled all of my corrosive toxic goo, as it desperately needed to go somewhere. That being said, I utterly overworked it and yet I still think there's a TON of things wrong with the final result, it's basically too toxic even for me to look at at this point, and I have a lot of bittersweetness attached to its existence. Very complicated relationship to this work, but you know!! It still stood with me for almost a decade, so it would really suck if it didn't make my top 3 πβπβ
