Raven goes to do an errand for Vic, but is horrified to find that they don’t have the correct brand of protein powder he wants.

Raven wishes that her companions were better at this.

She considers them exceptionally competent people. Well, most of them. Most of them, she handpicked to help her save the universe from her father, Trigon. All of them except Tara, who still has something in her that Raven cannot pin down, something in her that screams of danger, that Raven is too unsure about, too wary of pre-judging as Zatanna did to her, or of mixing up her father's influence with this child's.

Either way, the point is – this is a group of people who should not be stymied by restaurants.

It's after Father lost his temper – after he taught her her lesson in pain – that Raven finally manages to see Mother.

Mother will understand Father. She must, mustn't she? Raven's not really sure how else their relationship would've worked.

And so she makes her way to Mother's tower. There's a guard outside – that's smart. Father wants her protected, obviously. And Raven climbs up the stairs and –

Why is Mother still sad? She can feel her sadness from here.

Raven gets to the top of the tower and knocks. She can sense Mother's trepidation through the door.

Chapter 1: Raven is Faced with the Prospect of Declaring a Major

Raven considers herself good at college.

She was taught how to study on Azarath. She studied a lot. She spent endless afternoons in the library when she was not allowed to play with the other children or indulge frivolities.

So why is this difficult? Her academic advisor in Manhattan College said that she should choose a major. When Raven clearly had no clue what to choose, she recommended that Raven explore her options. And Raven doesn't really know what her options are. A career was not something she had to consider when she was on Azarath. Her “career”, as it was, was controlling the potential for evil within her.
